:o Busy thread

Hard To Beat is an essential of 2005. And fortunately it was blasted out by Radio 1 frequently. Hopefully the new album will be released/leaked soon ^_^

Hard To Beat summed up summer for me last year. :party2:

Yeah hopefully the new album could be out within the next 7 months or soon. :o ^_^ They've finished touring Stars Of CCTV now and are fully concentrating working on the new album. :party2:

That new smiley is clearly where it's at

Yup, I know they toured the USA a few months back but to little/no success it seems so a new album was put back. But I suppose it just means less time between releases/more promotion for us if they're not over there doing the same thing ^_^

Yeah it really is. ^_^ Me and Cassidy are trying to put :party2: on the map. ^_^

Well SOCCTV was a quite succesful album. ^_^ Well yeah it kinda flopped in the states but I guess most stuff does from Britan. :( I have a feeling though the new album won't be anywhere near as succesful as SOCCTV but I guess it just depends with what single they put out first.

Hmm, I actually think that the follow-up will be as big but it really depends on the material

I don't think they'll change their sound too much like the likes of Keane did -_- and they're pretty much guaranteed support from Radio 1 who seem to love them. And of course this album will have a bigger budget than Stars.... which was made for £200 or something daft, but imo that added to the to the CD and made the songs sound more like anthems

So yeah  overall I think it will be as big, Stars only did about 700k anyways I think

Even though they have a bigger budget their still recording the album in the old recording studio. Yeah I think your right about Radio 1; they normally always support them and hopefully they will again with all the new stuff. ^_^ Do y'know on SOCCTV if you listen closely enough you can actually hear 'the planes taking of from Heathrow'. :o

I think SOCCTV did about 300-400k last year and its done about the same this year so yeah its on about 700-800k I reckon. ^_^

Stars Of CCTV was made with only £200?!? :o That's ridiculous!

Amazing album, though... should have sold at least 3 times as many copies as it did :( Also a shame that it got to the top of the album charts during the "slow" post-Christmas period, when it should have been one of the best-selling albums of the year

Well the ORGINAL version of SOTCC was made for £200. :P Yeah then they got discovered by Atlanta records and then they got a bigger budget to re-make SOCCTC. ^_^

Hmm i'm pretty pleased with the sales of SOCCTC tbh. ^_^ Not many indie albums so that well and Cash Machine being released as a single really helped the album. :party2:

Very true that. Although 5 top 15 singles is nothing to be sniffed at, I can't help but feel Hard-Fi have been slightly robbed of a few top tens :(

'Cash Machine' and 'Tied Up Too Tight' should have been top 10, imo

Tied Up Tight is just a great song. :cheer: I'm not really bothered that it didn't chart too well but bleugh. Cash Machine would have gone top 10 I reckon if the b-sides weren't dire. :arrr:

What was the B-Side for Cash Machine?!

What was the B-Side for Cash Machine?!

It was just an acoustic version I think. I passed on buying it as i'm not a great fan of acoustic versions. With Better Do Better though they has Polish Love Song as a b-side to it. ^_^ It didn't do too well chart wise but it was the 5th single off the album.

Yeah, I thought the release of 'Better Do Better' was milking it a bit (Like The Kooks did when they released 'Ooh La' from 'Inside In/Inside Out). Don't get me wrong, good song and everything, but I just didn't think it was single material, tbh

Yeah it wasn't really single material; they couldn't have really re-released Tied Up Too Tight as that did ok chart wise and got Radio 1 airplay etc, but they only other song they could have possibly released as a single was Move On Now, which IMO would either have massivley flopped or become a radio classic. B)

I would have liked to have seen 'Move On Now' released simply because it's so much different from the other songs on the album. I agree with you there though... it would have been a make-or-break single. I don't think it would have done as well had it been released last.. possibly would have done better released after 'Hard To Beat' or possibly 'Living For The Weekend'

Move On Now is just a nice little airplay hit and it would have probably done well and there was talk of releasing it as a 6th single, but i'm glad they didn't in the end, as I don't know whether it really would have been worth it in the end.

Yeah, I think by the time they'd 'Better Do Better' they'd already sold about as many copies of the album as they could, and people started to lose interest slightly

One thing I could never quite figure out is why was the radio version of 'Better Do Better' shorter than the album version? Ruined it, imo

Yeah your totally right the radio edit totally ruined the album version. :( Whenever I heard the radio version I was always expecting it to pan out like the album version but it never did. :( I eventually got used to it though. ^_^

 I never did!

It seems a shame that they do that to a lot of singles - shorten them or "remix" them. Pointless. A good example of this is the Black Eyed Peas 'Elephunk' album (I don't own it - my mam does.. HONEST!). Every single they released from that album was either shortened, remixed or changed completely! What the hell was the point in that?!?!!? It's like buying a completely different album <_<

Yeah I know what you mean but the Radio stations have to play the single edits or else the tracks drag on WAY too long. It works well on an album because a person has willingly spent their money towards the artist and obviously likes what their listening too so they can darg tracks out (expect Justin Timberlake who takes advantage of that too much. ) but on the Radio they have to cut the needless parts out of the track.

Well, they don't HAVE to.. i mean, let's face it, if they had to cut out all the bad parts of 'Crazy Frog' there wouldn't be anything left to play
