April 15, 201114 yr I could reconcile myself with that top ten. But only if it was in a completely different order.
April 18, 201114 yr Author Another one with odds and diaspora: 1. Norway (188) 2. France (176) 3. Moldova (174) 4. Greece (165) 5. Bosnia Herzegovina (153) 6. United Kingdom (149) 7. Serbia (142) 8. Russia (138) 9. Sweden (132) 10. Azerbaijan (128) 11. Italy (94) 12. Turkey (85) 13. Armenia (83) 14. Hungary (82) 15. Denmark (82) 16. Austria (75) 17. Poland (69) 18. Finland (68) 19. Spain (59) 20. Romania (56) 21. Ukraine (54) 22. Slovenia (50) 23. Latvia (41) 24. Germany (28) 25. Israel (23) EPIC top 10, Moldova  excepted. Decent showing for Italy too
April 18, 201114 yr Wahey! I did it again too... 1. Turkey (248) 2. Azerbaijan (206) 3. France (204) 4. Estonia (199) 5. Sweden (192) 6. Bosnia Herzegovina (163) 7. United Kingdom (158) 8. Germany (150) 9. Norway (141) 10. Finland (90) 11. Russia (90) 12. Ireland (88) 13. Italy (80) 14. Switzerland (76) 15. Poland (69) 16. Austria (57) 17. Slovenia (48) 18. Israel (46) 19. Romania (43) 20. Serbia (38) 21. Denmark (34) 22. Greece (24) 23. Moldova (24) 24. Hungary (13) 25. Spain (13) Not so great. That would probably the most diaspora-tastic top 2 ever. France doesn't deserve to (and won't) do that well either. How so? It's easily the grandest song in the competition imo, the music is incredible (even if the vocals are marmite depending on whether you can stomach that sort of thing ). I don't know if France WILL finish as high as the bookies are predicting, but they would definitely deserve it as they did for sending such an 'epic' and different sounding song to the contest. I'd like to see them rewarded with a top five finish at least, they seem to have put some actual thought into their entry for once, which they weren't doing for the majority of the 00s.
April 18, 201114 yr Author There is some originality in it for sure, more in actually choosing to send it than the song itself, which is Josh Groban singing Ravel's Bolero in Corsican, but I really don't know. It will score well with the juries of course, but I just can't see where it will get televotes from. Don't get me wrong I'd LOVE them to win, but it leaves me cold and I don't think i'll be the only one. Low top 10 beckons imho.

I adore it, but it's very difficult to see it going down that well with the general public, so I would share your view of low top 10 for it, possibly 7/8.
April 18, 201114 yr With current voting odds and diaspora I got: 01 Norway 201 02 United Kingdom 195 03 Armenia 174 04 Russia 163 05 Estonia 162 06 France 139 07 Finland 128 08 Sweden 128 09 Netherlands 126 10 Germany 121 11 Azerbaijan 121 12 Turkey 102 13 Ireland 91 14 Bosnia Herzegovina 87 15 Ukraine 77 16 Romania 71 17 Poland 68 18 Slovenia 50 19 Israel 48 20 Hungary 46 21 Greece 36 22 Austria 35 23 Spain 26 24 Switzerland 25 The UK was leading the entire way, until the last set of votes in fact. April 18, 201114 yr Everybody keeps saying that they don't think Sognu will go down well with the public even though they like it (a few people excepted of course, who genuinely don't like it!). I don't see why it can't connect to the televoters if it comes across as standout and above the pack, sometimes people vote for songs from genres they're not perhaps a fan of, just because it's THAT good a performance/moment - Lordi for example, who on earth would have thought that a song from that genre that could ever win? Ok, they had their gimmick in the costumes, but it was a solid, memorable song, far better than any other rock/metal-lite song entered into the contest before and since. I really think that Sognu will do better in the public vote than a lot of people seem to think it will personally. It's not my type of music at all, but I love it - so do most of the OGAE voters, so do the bookies, so do people on music forums across the internet. On paper it should flop, but in reality, I'm seeing a smash.
April 18, 201114 yr I think the main issue with Sognu is that it isn't especially instant. It takes a few listens to grow on you and that doesn't lend itself well to this kind of competition, especially not for one of the Big 4 being heard for the first time for most on the night. I think with a stellar performance it might do better than 7/8 but really what can he do. He's a fantastic vocalist, but again the song doesn't lend itself to a particularly energetic performance, at least not that I can see.
April 18, 201114 yr OMG the return of Inget konstigt alls? AMAZING. My facebook URL is this. :kink: qUsErkT1OCk
April 18, 201114 yr It's still genius  The zebra crossing dance with shopping bags is unforgettable! Get it back in your 'profile description' too Pavster!
April 20, 201114 yr Here's my results for my latest simulation with odds and diaspora voting. So pleased for Estonia  who after being around 5th most of the way shot up and beat France! UK didn't do to well though and how Malta lead the voting past the halfway stage is beyond me! 1. Estonia (214) 2. France (211) 3. Malta (191) 4. Hungary (189) 5. Germany (152) 6. Azerbaijan (147) 7. Armenia (145) 8. Denmark (127) 9. San Marino (122) 10. Lithuania (118) 11. Moldova (116) 12. Russia (97) 13. Romania (85) 14. Italy (85) 15. Croatia (80) 16. Israel (76) 17. Spain (71) 18. April 21, 201114 yr Surprised at the UK that low, what a very odd set of events that would be. Edited April 21, 201114 yr by Johnkm
April 21, 201114 yr With current odds and diaspora: 1. Estonia (219) 2. Norway (171) 3. France (159) 4. Croatia (154) 5. United Kingdom (147) 6. Bosnia Herzegovina (146) 7. Germany (136) 8. Netherlands (60) 20. Austria (37) 21. Spain (36) 22. Belgium (36) 23. Slovakia (30) 24. Moldova (30) 25. Switzerland (27) It was actually a very interesting voting, France led for about 7 the first 5 votes, then the UK for another 5 votes, then Norway for a couple but then Estonia pretty much had it in the bag with a series of 4 12's on the trot. Semi 1: 1. Croatia (130) 2. Norway (126) 3. Hungary (108) 4. Poland (97) 5. Russia (97) 6. Azerbaijan (96) 7. Greece (94) 8. Armenia (79) 9. Switzerland (77) 10. Finland (70) 11. Serbia (56) 12. April 21, 201114 yr I'm going to make an attempt at adding up all the final scores to give us an overall simulation as I'm quite bored! Should be interesting :D

April 21, 201114 yr You should probably stick to ones that are explicitly odds-based otherwise you'll end up with some bizarre results... Yes, I will do :)
April 21, 201114 yr I'm about halfway through adding them up, I'll finish it tomorrow :) Meanwhile, here's my new simulation results ;) Go Estonia and UK!!! : 1. France (314) 2. Estonia (211) 3.
