Alicia is brilliant, but she's NO Diane.

I have a feeling this new firm and Diane's new job and everything really could be a massive breath of fresh air to the show (not that it really needed it), provided they do it right. It also leaves Will in an interesting position, he has Kalinda but that's about IT. Well, David Lee I guess but he's as much of a liability as an asset at times

It would be nice to see Will V Alicia/Cary arguing in front of the Honourable Diane Lockhart *.*

What can you tease about Season 5?

Robert King: What we've been saying to the actors and what we'll happily say to you is this season is really going to start at 90 miles an hour, because next year it is going to be civil war in the firm. Every year up until now, we've had some kind of outside force. This year, it's going to be an inside force that's the problem, and that's going to play out as not needing as many guest stars to create tension, because most of the tension is going to be created by our characters within the firm. Usually, it's a little bit of PR bullshit when you say, “Oh, next year will be the year when everything explodes.” Well, it's not really PR bullshit for us to say that. This can't end happily for them. Once Alicia says “I'm in” to Cary, all the characters are going to be at each other's throats. You know what I'm most excited about? I think Matt Czuchry probably has not been as well served by our show as his talents deserve. Next year, obviously you're going to see Matt more at the center of what's going on.

:D

ALSO. They get it: In looking back at this season as a whole, is there anything you would have done differently? And, conversely, what surprised you the most in terms of how the season turned out?

Robert King: We wanted to give Archie something meatier. If we had to do it again, we would not go down that route, as much as we enjoyed what Mark Warren did with Nick.

SO SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED for this to be back in a few weeks. Got myself caught in a couple of youtube cycles of the several hundred amazing moments across S1-4 the last few days. There is just so much to love.

Top 2 here *.*

I'll push it to top 5 for you.

If we have another few quality seasons it could be up there with 'Fraiser' :o

Hmm, I know I said the same thing last year but I really would be AGOG if it gets renewed again (but obv hopin' and prayin' it does).

Its ratings are holding up no?!

They are. They just happen to be crap too. To be honest I would rather it went out on a HIGH, up until now and bar the slightly awful Kalinda's husband thing it's been nearly the perfect show.

Going off Wikipedia it seems to be averaging 9 million. Not bad at all to my untrained eye (?!?)

It's got a good amount of viewers but the networks favourite rating is the 18-49 share where it under performs compared to the rest of CBS. It is however a critical darling and has just scooped syndication. If it can hold strong on it's numbers this year it may just avoid the chop for another year.
There are at least three other CBS dramas I could potentially see ending after next season, could be a close call.
I reckon 5-0, Mentalist and potentially CSI + Blue Bloods are up for the chop. The later had the same numbers as CSI:NY but survived because it hits syndication this year.

I would agree that The Mentalist and probably Blue Bloods are almost certainly a goners, 5-0 has a syndication deal with TNT so it might stick around for a bit longer, CSI I don't see going anywhere for the time being.

re. this though, I tend to try and convince myself it's all over so that when it is I'm in some way prepared for it. I've been relatively lucky with the shows I ADORE not really getting canned too quickly, but I can STILL feel the bitter sting of reading that Sanctuary had been cancelled last year :(

OMG that sneak peak was everything. SO MUCH dramatic walking down corridors *.*

Lovely episode to return on too, nice heartwarming story and some interesting plot developments. Had everyone on FORM too which was nice and I like that this is all putting Alicia in yet another awkward position. LOVELY to see David Lee being a regular too (forgot all about that happening until I watched it) and in general YAY at it being back.

The only thing I wasn't hugely keen on was Peter and Marilyn, I guess they never really had any chance for him to LEER over other women much before but it felt a bit like they were trying to make us dislike Peter again and after S4 I think that's a bit odd.

Oh and we can add Jeffrey Tambor to the ever growing roster of amazing guest Judges.

Fantastic start to the new season (compare that episode to the premiere last year!). The preview looked incredible as well!

So happy with the Alicia/Cary storyline – especially now everyone is going to fall out. DRAMA DRAMA.

Echoing the praise for the return! Looks like they are determined to go out fighting which is superb. If they can keep the quality up through the year then they might just get a 6th season on Fridays. Might.
Just watched the first episode of the New season! WOW! After the episode there was a season trailer and I did get the sense they could be seeing this as the last season. Hopefully not :)
