@IveGotIt: how is Lady Gaga not a 'proper artist'? she writes her own material and is a good singer- she is just as much an 'artist' as Adele is ;)

Most artists in the chart at the moment (co-)write their lyrics anyway. Looking at the iTunes top 10, Pitbull, Wretch 32, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Tracy Chapman, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas, Mann and 50 Cent all write their own lyrics.

It's not particularly unusual.

I guess Adele has got success from releasing brilliant songs with 21 of the back of her voice + how fantastic songs are.

& a *lot* of hype

anyway, Gaga's not a genius and Adele probably outshines her vocally, but they are both artists in their own right-they just use different methods to express that

GaGa looked like she was going to take over the world a year ago but she's faded in the light of the Adele storm. Adele is a proper artist GaGa just a very poor man's Madonna. Adele is what people want now, not GaGa.

I can't stand GaGa, I think she's pretentious, arrogant and annoying, but saying she's not a proper artist is a downright lie. She writes all her songs and has started producing some of them as well. She plays musical instruments, she can sing live and has a major hand in her career. You may not like her, but there's no need to lie about her.

I think Judas might well hit #1, briefly, when the video comes out but I don't think it will actually peak at #1 on the singles chart.

I love Gaga but I just wish she would focus more on making great music - for me there's too much hype and not enough substance about her at the moment. I guess there's quite a lot of pressure on her though and it must be hard.

I must admit that I would chuckle a bit if Fast Car overtook Judas!

It must be difficult though, if you want to always top your last video. Although if she keeps going at this rate, her next music video will be a sex tape. :drama:
It's funny how before the release of BTW everyone thought it was a certainty for #1. I'm still a bit baffled as to why it never made it to the top in the UK when it did in almost every other country! Although I do agree it's not quite as good as Bad Romance/Telephone etc. But thinking back to those singles, if I remember rightly, Bad Romance only got to Number 1 following its X Factor performance, and Telephone only got to Number 1 the week the video came out, and all the hype surrounding the video. So in other circumstances those two singles might not even have got to Number 1, and Alejandro only peaked at Number 7, so maybe everyone was a bit too quick to assume BTW was gonna be an easy Number 1? It will be interesting to see how Judas does though, I've only heard it once but already i think it's better than BTW...

dunno. prob never. Lke others said , it may techically hit #1 on iTunes but Im not feeling an overall #1 from this- and rightfully so.Im already prediciting well get this wannabe epic, WAY too long video with several speaking points/ slow down in betweens etc etc LOL basically exactly what we all predict and know shes gonna do . Shes just NOT on top of her game this entire era. Everything has been beyond contrived and many people seem to be seeing that. The hype and expectarions was 80s, 90s MJ, Madonna level, and shes just NOT universally delivering. Shes been way more Cyndi Lauper etc..who by the 2nd and 3rd albums, who technically had some hits but whose "shtick" and music were just not as innovative and more tired than anything.

So true. It's actually hard to believe that her exclusive brand new singles, off her forthcoming much anticipated album, could both miss the top spot.

Noone could have seen that coming I guess :o

We don't know if 'Judas' will miss the UK No.1 spot - yet. It went

in at No.14 on less than 2 Days Sales, & it was rushed out so fast

that many people would not have been aware that it had been

released.

Just because 'Born This Way' Peaked at No.3, in the UK, does not

mean anything. I recall that ABBA were said to be 'on the way out',

when 'Summer Night City' Peaked at No.5 in 1978. And they failed

to reach No.1 for 2.5 Years, after 'Take A Chance On Me'. (6 Singles

Peaked from No.5 to No.2). They still had 2 more No.1's in 1980, &

2 UK No.1 Albums, during the 2.5 Years of no UK No.1 Singles.

As to 'Alejandro' Peaking at No.7 - it had sold well over a Million on

'The Fame', in the UK, so, it was held back by that. The Video was

rather off-putting as well - too dark/gloomy.

Even The Beatles did not reach No.1 with every New Single. Why

expect it of Lady GaGa? I think that 'Judas' is a far better, & more

interesting Single, than 'Born This Way'.

Yes I agree - Lady Gaga is over..

She is so 2009..

Waits for next annoying girl singer to come along and be the next hot property for the next 12 months

:P

The only reason 'Born This Way' missed getting to #1, (and what will also be the reason if 'Judas' misses out on #1 too) is because of this 'On Air, On Sale' thing. Without a doubt, if both 'BTW' and 'Judas' has set release dates, and had Radio/TV been playing both tracks a few weeks in advance of the release date, then they'd both would have shot to #1. A la 'On The Floor'.

Well, Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone were all "On air, on sale", so it is possible for her.

I do agree with you though. I'm sure they'd've gotten to #1 if they were held back.

Oh come on, when a song is really a proper mega hit, no matter when it gets on sales, it makes it to number 1 at some point. Look at songs that stays at number 1 for weeks like 'Someone like you', those are real number 1s and doesn't need clever strategy to get one week at the top.

Yes releasing 'BTW' on a Sunday or holding the release a bit could have made it get to number 1, but realisticaly, 1 week at the top due to the hype is all that 'BTW' could have got. So whatever way you look at it, it hasn't been the huge hit we were all expecting from her comeback.

The numerous million sellers that didn't get to #1 beg to differ :P (Last Christmas + many others #2, Blue Monday #3, Angels #4...)

Give the GaGa time guys! Judas is not yet a flop because the video hasn't premiered and it hasn't gained AirPlay. Judas can still be a big hit even if it is only at 7 right now, it probably won't get to number one but will go on to become a 400k seller like BTW will do in a few weeks.

The 43 people who voted for never are winners, the only prize is... PRIDE!!!!!! The people who voted later might be winners if the song climbs and doubles it's pop bars like I'm hoping it will do when the video comes out, this is unlikely as I said before
