The Nu Shooz sample is exactly the main reason why I think this track is brilliant. As many people are already aware, I'm not the biggest fan of US RnB and US Rap because most of it sounds far too minimal, empty or take good samples of other peoples songs but slow them right down so they sound deathly depressing compared to the original. This is also 50 Cent's biggest hit in my chart although I actually liked 'In Da Club' at the time so that would've been a top 10 hit for me.

If my chart was based on "sales" then this week was the closest battle yet for #1. I did contemplate putting Kanye West at no. 1 but in the end decided to keep Jennifer Lopez at no. 1 for a fifth week. As for Blue, I very much doubt they'll be no. 1 in my chart but 'I Can' is likely to make my top 10. The comparisons to 2001 are quite bizzare but yet true - all we need now is Atomic Kitten and S Club 7 to reform/return to the music industry and your 2011 will be complete. :lol:

I can understand why people would regard this as "worst #1 of the year so far" and "rubbish" but it appeals to my inner teenager (ie; it's exactly the type of song I would've liked aged 14) so I can't help but like these type of tracks. However, I'm sure this will be the peak for LMFAO (although I think I said #6 would be their peak last week so who knows :P ).

Caro just missed out on a third top 20 hit in my chart following the massive success of 'A Night Like This' which peaked at #4 around this time last year iirc. :o Then there was 'Back It Up' which peaked at #16. I wouldn't rule out 'That Man' climbing into the top 20 though.

To be honest, I've slowly started to lose interest in Arctic Monkeys. I liked their debut album and set of single releases. Then along came 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' which I thought was a stronger album. Since then, however, they've lost that youthful spark they had in 2005 and 2007. It's like Oasis releasing two supperb albums - then releasing a pompus album like 'Be Here Now' which lacked everything that made their previous two albums solid throughout. I guess this is the result of running out of things to say when you're a songwriter. Basically, I find this song quite underwhelming.

I'm sure you'll be devestated to know that this week I nearly did put Kanye West at #1 but in the end I decided to stick with J-Lo as the #1 single. Sowwy. :(

06 (08) Snoop Dogg Vs David Guetta - Sweat (10-08-08-06) [4 wks] - Okay. Like Felix but it is a bit cheap really.

At first, the Felix sample bugged me purely because it had also been used on 'Feels Like Home' by Meck only last year so it seemed like a cop out to use a familiar track. However, I've grown to like the Felix sample as part of this track. It probably enhances the track too and without the sample, I doubt this track would be anywhere near as Euphoric.

08 (09) Cee Lo Green - Bright Lights, Bigger City (20-09-08) [3 wks] - Again, okay enough.

Well, it's easily better than 'It's Ok' but I think most people would agree that 'Forget You!' is still in a different league altogether.

09 (07) Adele - Someone Like You (01-01-01-01-03-03-05-07-09) [9 wks] - Still prefer RITD but this is great too.

Adele is currently my artist of 2011 without shadow of a doubt. Two excellent singles with possibly a third (if the record company can get it right) and also a solid pop album that's probably not far off selling 2 million copies in the UK.

12 (24) Crocodiles - Mirrors (24-12) [2 wks] - Doctor Blind has a good ear for UP entries!

He sure does, although I still don't get the hype for The Naked And Famous. I've seen the video on MTV2 a couple of times over the last month or so but I still only think it's ok and nothing more. Crocodiles, however, really is ace. Just a really anthemic rock track that would be a breath of fresh air if it was in the UK charts (but alas it isn't :( ).

Considering '5 Years Time' got to #2 in my personal chart, 'L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.' has done remarkably well to stick around as long as it has with just a peak of #6.

Yeah, I don't get the instant hatred for 'Judas'. Sure it's not 'Bad Romance' (even if it's got the same structure) but it's still better than 'LoveGame' and at the moment, I'd say it's on par with 'Alejandro'. Lady GaGa has released better singles, but she's also released weaker too.

20 (15) Katy B - Broken Record (09-15-20) [3 wks] - Nice enough.

Indeed, but it's one of those songs that's very "of the moment" and I'm already getting slightly bored of this song. Doesn't leave a lasting impression on me.

22 (20) Take That - Kidz (09-07-06-08-11-15-20-22) [8 wks] - Still my favourite thing by them to date.

It is a cracking pop track but I personally think Take That have released some brilliant tracks since they massive comeback in 2006.

26 (27) Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks (27-26) [2 wks] - This has grown on me hugely, will enter my chart today.

:D These Unknown Pleasures 5 track have managed to maintain some momentum in my chart. Perhaps this will climb again next week.

There was me, genuinely thinking I was onto a winner when I discovered this track. How WRONG was I? :lol: Still, I like this song but clearly compared to other UP5 entries that are higher, I will admit my own entry wasn't the best on the contest.

31 (21) Patrick Wolf - The City (14-14-21-21-31) [5 wks] - Love Patrick but only like this track, not a patch on Time Of My Life

'Time Of My Life' was indeed a fine track that also benefitted from the post-Xmas slump as it catipulted its way into my top 3 in January. I initially thought 'The City' would've made my top 10 (the week it spent a second week at #14) but it fell short.

39 (--) The Strokes - Under Cover Of Darkness (39) [1 wk] - I'm over them I think, I listened to this and it was okay but nothing at all exciting

'UCOD' is ok for what it is. I liked it enough to chart it but hence low down at #39 so it'll probably suffer an inevitable 39-OUT style chart run.

If my chart was based on "sales" then this week was the closest battle yet for #1. I did contemplate putting Kanye West at no. 1 but in the end decided to keep Jennifer Lopez at no. 1 for a fifth week. As for Blue, I very much doubt they'll be no. 1 in my chart but 'I Can' is likely to make my top 10. The comparisons to 2001 are quite bizzare but yet true - all we need now is Atomic Kitten and S Club 7 to reform/return to the music industry and your 2011 will be complete. :lol:

04 (06) LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem (06-06-04) [3 wks] It's a massive grower, these sorts of songs never make my top ten and usually settle for the 21-50 area but this one just about managed to get in there!

I can understand why people would regard this as "worst #1 of the year so far" and "rubbish" but it appeals to my inner teenager (ie; it's exactly the type of song I would've liked aged 14) so I can't help but like these type of tracks. However, I'm sure this will be the peak for LMFAO (although I think I said #6 would be their peak last week so who knows :P ).

21 (--) Caro Emerald - That Man (21) [1 wk] Like this a lot, nice to see A Night Like This getting success in Germany, if only it could do the same here (impossible I know :drama:)

Caro just missed out on a third top 20 hit in my chart following the massive success of 'A Night Like This' which peaked at #4 around this time last year iirc. :o Then there was 'Back It Up' which peaked at #16. I wouldn't rule out 'That Man' climbing into the top 20 though.

33 (36) Britney Spears - Till The World Ends (37-27-39-36-33) [5 wks] SMASH HIT!

Isn't it just. :lol: At this rate, it might end up topping my chart in its 15th week on the top 40. :P The video does help though in this case even if I still think 'Hold It Against Me' was the better track. Why couldn't 'HIAM' have had a music video like 'TTWE' - and visa versa instead? :D

37 (--) Arctic Monkeys - Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair (37) [1 wk] Rather low :o Not much a fan?

To be honest, I've slowly started to lose interest in Arctic Monkeys. I liked their debut album and set of single releases. Then along came 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' which I thought was a stronger album. Since then, however, they've lost that youthful spark they had in 2005 and 2007. It's like Oasis releasing two supperb albums - then releasing a pompus album like 'Be Here Now' which lacked everything that made their previous two albums solid throughout. I guess this is the result of running out of things to say when you're a songwriter. Basically, I find this song quite underwhelming.

To be honest, I never got the big deal with Atomic Kitten after the huge success of 'Whole Again'. They suddenly just started releasing singles like 'Whole Again Pt II' (aka 'Eternal Flame), 'Whole Again - The Next Chapter' (aka 'If You Come To Me). Basically, their sound became tired very quickly which is why I lost all interest in them. Well, I did like 'It's Ok' to be honest and they returned to their more "pop" roots with 'Be With You' but I'm sure if I had been compiling a chart back then, they would've have made a major impact with most of their singles. :(

As for Caro Emerald, 'A Night Like This' lacked one vital ingredient in last years BJSC = my votes. :P No doubt I would've given the track big points as it is a brilliant classy pop track. I've seen the track resurface on the release schedule, but even now I'm still unconvinced it'll be a hit. Didn't 'ANLT' scrape into the iTunes top 200 a couple of months back, only to disappear again about 24 hours later? :lol:
