yes, that would be a better wording

just look what happened to Duffy and Leona Lewis - I can't see it doing anywhere close to how well this has done, I don't think she'll ever have this level of success again- I don't think its even possible any album can outshine this album's success :drama:

Its amazing and to think that that 1 brits performance had alot to do with its success.

BTW wasn't a flop, it did reasonably well actually, just not as well as some people were expecting. If it had a normal Sunday release, its chart run would look like:

1-3-8-4-4-7-10-13-14-17

It would have still been in the top 4, 5 weeks after hitting #1, which for songs now a-days is impressive.

It would be more like 1-8-4-4-7-10-13-14-17. Considering its first two weeks at #3 were essentially one week of sales, if it were released on a Sunday that would only be 1 week at #1 and it would then drop to #8 before recovering to #4 the next week with the video etc.

If that makes sense :P

The truth is GaGa is not doing as well as alot of the loons thought!

I like her ALOT, but like quite a few of my friends, have slated her new material and recent video....it's all rather sh!t!!!

The casual listener will more than likely agree....these songs are hardly get up and dance numbers...extremely cliched.

They are not flops, but her they are underachievements tbh (in terms of sales).

Her album will no doubt see 800k + sales in the US, but its longevity will be highly questionable tbh!

actually if Gaga had gotten a normal sunday release, the week coming was the week Adele performed on the Brits, that would've been an incredible battle as Gaga wouldn't have been slowing down :o

Ga Ga has really lost her magic with this new era IMO. Her new songs are just generic :(.

You are right but I honestly doubt, if it had hit #1, it would have fell to #8 as many people would have heard it in 'chart rundowns' and got more airplay and exposure from being #1, so it would have probably fallen to about #6.

Agree with all of this. I am sure she has lost a lot of album buyers over this. I don't think her album is going to sell that well tbh. As i said in my previous post, her magic/credibility to the casual buyer is gone.

That was all part of the problem with BTW. The loons backed her up so much to have another massive hit on her hands, but when it didn't absolutely smash, people called it a flop. The loons bigging it up so much is the reason why it is being called a 'flop', because they bigged it up too much and it just couldn't live up to the expectations. I think it did rather well considering.

the thing is Born This Way will still sell over 500k Most Likely, hardly a flop! But dissapoitment.

Gaga's problem is the exact same of Britney they're releasing the video WAYYY to late.

(Leona - Echo 600,000+

Duffy - Endlessly - Less than 75,000?

Say no more.)

Adele wont ever have an album as huge as this one, i'd say it happens once in an artist's career, but her next album will be successful, like Leona's Echo i'd say, but then some people will be like, oh she's flopped, only because they compare it with this one. -_- Silly I know but hey, if you call double platinum album a flop, its pretty stupid.

Heard Beyonce's () new song, not very good  Not sure how well it'll do..

Judas #8, i'm still not getting this song, not a fan of it right now.

Born This Way is NOT a flop, what is wrong with people? A single which will go on to sell over 450,000 at the least is not a flop, also a song which went to #1 on every single iTunes store, and sold millions WW = definitely not a flop.

Also lee its not the exact same problem as britney, HIAM has flopped, as has TTWE (as it stands right now).

Glad Lazy Song & Nobody's Perfect climbing :)

You heard the demo, finished version not out yet.

And releasing the song WAYYY to early. I don't think the on air-on sale is great for big artists like Gaga & Britney as obviously fans buyers will get them high initially but then they will start falling and then radio and TV wont be as keen to play them due to them not doing as great in the charts. I think BTW would have done far better if it had been released three or so weeks after it premiered and a week or two after the videos come out.

Thanks Regina, hope the real version is better, but still dont think i'm going to like this song, unless its changed up quite significantly.

the reason I said Leona was because even though her album still sold well, it paled in comparison to Spirit ('underperformed' would be a better word than 'flop') - this is something I think could happen to Adele, only because standards are very high- or she could flop altogether like Duffy did

I'm not saying anything more about Leona :P

At the end of the day I believe an artist (if lucky enough) will have one HUGE album of their career, and then (again if lucky enough) have numerous other albums which are also successful, but not as successful, and then compared with that one huge album, people will look down on the success of say a double platinum album because that artist has had a 12x platinum album previously. If an artist continously sells albums that sell 500,000-600,000 sales they may not have that huge album, but when people look at their sales they have no huge album to be compared too, so will be praised more in having numerous double plat albums.

Sorry going off topic.

Cant believe how well fast car is doing, such a beautiful song. :)

Well, in most other countries songs are released on air-on sale all the time, and Gaga does fine there. You're right though, you sometimes get weird chart runs. Like in the US, I Need a Doctor got to #1 on iTunes for a week, then a week later it was out of the top 30. Then the promotion started and it got back to #2 on iTunes. And this sort of thing is quite common there.

That said, Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone were all on air-on sale.

Also, to whoever said it, I wouldn't say Hold It Against Me was a flop.
