April 27, 201114 yr Author 27 - The Corrs "Runaway" (1999) (+32) This song may have had a chance at number one if it wasn't released at the same time as million seller Britney Spears. But they did eventually get a number one hit in July 2000 with 'Breathless', which wasn't the follow up to Runaway, but to number 18 hit 'Radio' 1_lfpr9bT7k
April 27, 201114 yr Author 26 - N-Trance "Set You Free" (1995) (+33) Gooddelta won't be happy with 2 fave songs just missing out on the top 25, but results are results. Celine Dion denied this song of number one but it was still a massive hit, spending 9 weeks in the T10. They scored another number 2 hit with 'Staying Alive' but that didn't do nearly as well chartwise Bcf5kzBCdy4
April 27, 201114 yr This is INCORRECT. I know B!STR very well, better than Go West anyway. And I wasn't even alive in 1993. I too remember B!STR, I like it in a novelty way, but beating Go West was a real injustice especially at how close it was :( one of my favourite number 2s
April 27, 201114 yr "Go West" was a pointless cover version, the first real sign that the Pet Shop Boys were running out of steam and becoming a sort of parody of themselves. -- Richard
April 27, 201114 yr Oh and Boom! Shake the Room! is definitely remembered, probably moreso than Mr Vain. It's huge with my generation, a Babylon classic!
April 27, 201114 yr 5 VERY good songs in a row. I suspect I shall be upset to see some of the tracks that have beaten them to the top.
April 27, 201114 yr Pretty glad N-Trance didn't get any higher - it was ok at the time but it sounds very cheesy today.
April 28, 201114 yr Author Oh and Boom! Shake the Room! is definitely remembered, probably moreso than Mr Vain. It's huge with my generation, a Babylon classic! According to Compare My Radio, in the last 30 days these songs got: "Mr Vain" 42 plays "Boom! Shake The Room" 2 plays Quite a big difference
April 28, 201114 yr Author 25 - Manic Street Preachers "A Design For Life" (1996) (+34) This was the first big hit for the Manics, becoming their highest peaking song at the time. The follow up went to number 5, but they finally scored a number one in September 1998 with "If You Tolerate This...". "A Design For Life" was the first of fourteen T10 hits for the Manics. April 28, 201114 yr Author 24 - The KLF "Last Train to Trancenteral" (1991) (+35) Cher kept this off the top spot for 2 weeks, it would have been a second number one for them if she didn't. This was the third out of five hits for KLF, all their hits went top ten before they disappeared. The KLF have another song in this chart, "Justified And Ancient" is still to come. aqxtBggVsi0
April 28, 201114 yr Author 23 - Pulp "Mis-Shapes/Sorted for Es and Wizz" (1995) (+36) Pulp were unlucky to have two songs miss out on the top spot, this is the second of them, and it went number two behind Simply Red. They slowly died down in popularity ever since, with their follow up "Disco 2000" reaching 7, and their last hit was in April 2002. PUqg5DLReJA
April 28, 201114 yr Author 22 - Bluetones "Slight Return" (1996) (+36) Babylon Zoo kept them off the top spot, and they never were in the running for it again, with their next two singles peaking at 7. iIzcRqyXGdk
April 28, 201114 yr Author 21 - Cardigans "Lovefool" (1997) (+37) This song went to number 21 when it was originally released, but on re-release it went to number 2 and missed out thanks to Olive. The follow up went to number 35, but they did have another top ten hit in March 1999. I9zpnLBtwwg

April 28, 201114 yr Corrs and N-Trance which I'm not keen on, that was a very solid 30 to 21 rundown - The second songs from Pulp and KLF still to come and, oh yes, Prodigy too.
April 28, 201114 yr My teo favourites, 'Justified and Ancient' and 'Torn' still to come, so I'm happy. (Hope I haven't cursed them now!)
April 28, 201114 yr Runaway and Set You Free outside the top 25? What a disaster, two of the greatest songs of all time, let alone UK #2's! Better Off Alone had better be top ten! I'd have given anything for Runaway to be The Corrs' sole #1 over Breathless, I can't say I listen to the latter much out of choice at all, although curiously I do still hear it just as much on the radio even though I think Runaway is far more of a classic.
April 28, 201114 yr According to Compare My Radio, in the last 30 days these songs got: "Mr Vain" 42 plays "Boom! Shake The Room" 2 plays Quite a big difference  That doesn't mean that much though. Boom! Shake the Room is still a well remembered song, just not played. Babylon 90s like Relfex is 80s, Boom! Shake the Room gets played pretty much every time I'm in there and gets a massive reaction, I'm not sure I've ever heard Mr Vain in there. It's still a fully deserving number one single. And Boom Shake the Room has 18 plays here... http://comparemyradio.com/tracks/DJ_Jazzy_..._Shake_the_Room
