Well the fact she hasn't stepped foot in the Country since 2008 gives a slight look at how well Brit is actually doing. If she'd promoted this era I'm sure we'd be seeing better results, but who cares?

She's britney spears, she shouldn't need to step foot in the country to sell. Her name ALONE should be able to do that. She's not a new artist, she's established and recognziable enough without having to appear on f***ing Paul O'grady.

Britney has nothing to prove as an artist (See her albums "In The Zone" & "Blackout"). She has proved herself multiple times, she can get hits without even trying. You may want to note that her 'flop' of a single "Till The World Ends" has NOT been getting radio support here, so any chart success is working on video play alone. The remix is just an added bonus.

She has everything to prove, it's been over 10 years since her glory days, and she needs to PROVE she can take on the likes of Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry etc etc.. and the only thing she's proved with FEMME DOM is that she can't :) and don't give me the radio play excuse.. Alexandra Burk hardly got any radio support last year for "All Night Long" (it was either that or Start Without You) yet she still got a nice top ten position :)

Secondly why bother comparing her to the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry.
Why not? it's logical. They basically appeal to the same demographic, and it's interesting to note how peoples taste has evolved from how it was years ago. Hell, Britneys hardly been a HUGE success since 2004 has she? And yes, I'll tell you why I will compare them and I'll also use Kylie Minogue as an example.

Kylie Minogue - ATL (first single from her new album)

320k even while up against STRONG summer competition from Katy Perry & Lady Gaga

Britney Spears - Hold SH!T against me (First single from new album)

150k with hardly any competition in January.

See? So sit your arse down and learn about statistics and why comparing actually IS relevant. Just because you don't like the results, doesn't mean you can placate them.

There's room for them all. And the fact that Rihanna had Britney added onto her remix and scored another US #1 goes to show how Britney really doesn't need to "throw in the towel".

She may aswell, if she can only be relevant by LIVING off "in" popstars like a parasite. She should simply hop off Rihanna's bandwagon and stumble back to her crashed one.

Your example with Kylie is a bit unfair since Kylie heavily promoted ATL in this country. Britney didn't. Just because she is a "big name" it does

not guantee a big hit.

Couldn't give a sh!t, love. Even when Britney does promote (Womanizer on the biggest show in the UK) it hardly helps her. It did f*** all for the album. Are you telling me every single song that's done well in the charts has been heavily promoted? NO! Britney Spears is one of those recognizable artists where you'd hear people in schools saying "Have you heard the new Britney song?" and you'd read about it on the internet. the internet is one HUGE promo tool for artists now.. twitter.. facebook.. everything. If it has the power to make things go viral, and the video can be viewed millions of times, then why is nobody buying the single? Not an unfair example by any stretch of the imagination.

I remember back in January how many people all over twitter/facebook were excited for Britney's new song... and look how that turned out. LOLLOL!

Gaga didn't promote Born This Way, did Black Eyed Peas promote just can't get enough? Did Chris Brown do any promotion? Hmmm?

Wow, what an expert you are at communicating on the internet. Holy f***ing $h!t, 35k posts and you PRIDE yourself on your perfect literacy? Why not get off your chair indented Scottish arse and do something more constructive with your time other than evidently spending most of it on the interwebs.

:D :o

What a fantastic thread except what the f- is Femme Dom?

Thank you, I would've elaborated more until f***ing Michelle Mcmanus over there got involved.

Well aren't you just lovely? :heehee:

Why don't YOU do something more constructive with your time other than moaning about Britney?

Oh look, another sale for her :cheer: 34,844 now :D

I think 'Gasoline' could do good.... She hasn't really flopped in Ireland TOO badly. Till The World Ends entered at #7, then fell to #22 and out of the chart a few weeks after. But the last couple of weeks it's risen again, now it's at #11 on iTunes, and #16 on the official chart :)

Moaning? Moaning would be me disappointed with the sales. I'm GLAD she's flopping.

This is a music discussion forum. I am discussing music. Problem? Too bad. Silly little highlanders..

This thread is a mildly diverting, fairly amusing thread!

Welcome to BJ Shangela! I must be honest though - even though I can't stand Britney (the miming, the bad dancing, the fact that she's only made one decent song - Toxic) I wouldn't go as far to make a personal comment about her (i.e., 'slag' - that's a tad uncalled for).

Looking forward to reading more of your posts ... and what other artists you intend sabotaging the shelf-space of in HMV.

Kath

Oh my. Discussion between Regina and Shangela is f***ing exciting. Keep bitching bitches.

nother sale for her :cheer: 34,844 now :D
