Is Baby Cakes really going to be the first song to be voted out? That's a great song.

I voted for Steve Brookstein because it's utterly awful.

f*** You Right Back got my vote, but to be honest any of those with a good few votes can happily leave.

Steve's is a crap version of a decent song, so for now I think he deserves to stay over some of the utter dross here.

This list leaves you with the question: what crap will manage to get to the top 10. Really hard to pick a winner here. The Rasmus, Outkast, Mad World or O-Zone deserve it, best songs there :) Wouldn't mind Eminen and D12 getting far :)

MTV is pretty much $h!t in here too but there isn't any alternative really. The other main channel is MuzTV which is like 10 times worse with loads of Russian crap music being shown loads. There are some other music channels too (we even have our own 'Box' too IIRC) but they aren't really known. But, like in the other parts of globe, main MTV and that MuzTV channels aren't about music anymore, they're more about teen entertaining sadly. However, in 2004 MTV was half-decent, it showed actual MUSIC and sometimes it was nice to watch it, especially night programms with some real quality music there.

Oh, we have another music channel which is quite popular at the moment, it's called A1 (Alternative One, The First Alternative). It's pretty much $h!t too because it's far too narrow-minded. Such genres as pop or commercial R&B or Dance are pretty much like a swear words for them. Instead they show countless faceless rock/indie bands (I mean, those rock-indie bands who are really faceless), sometimes mixing them with the quality electronic music (OK, I'll give them credit to that). Their shows are very hilarious to watch too. For instance, one sport show is the show where they go, say, snowboarding to some mountains and like 20-30% of the whole air of the programme takes talking and chatting how nice the native girls are and how it is lovely to tweak them on their asses, that made me cringe. I know this channel quite well, as I go to the cafe where it's shown, to be honest it's sometimes even quite entertaining to explore what the 'cool' guys and girls tend to listen/watch .

Edit: and another one is RuTV but there are 100% of Russian music being shown. My ears are bleeding when I accidentally watch it here or there.

Wow, you really seem to hate your own country's music! :heehee: Is it that bad? Clearly this must be why 1 in a million actually make it outside of Russia... :D

I just never really liked MTV to be honest, but I don't really know if the Europe version was better than the UK and Ireland one. But here there were so many better alternatives that showed music videos pretty much all day, rather than going on to Cribs or whatever rubbish. I just wanted to see music! Although admittedly some of the spin-off channels like MTV Base and MTV2 are alright (or were, I have no idea what they're like nowadays, I don't watch them anymore).

The Box was definitely the best here, though - I always genuinely looked forward to First Play Friday (or whatever it used to be called, they always changed it) to see the new videos they added

Wow. That sounds, er... fun?

On the channels I get, they both pretty much play chart music. One of them actually plays the official top 40 every day, which takes up a few hours. I agree, night is the best time to watch them though. They play songs outside the charts more. They occasionally do interviews with artists too, which is cool.

There's a massive lack of rock/indie/etc. music on them though. I'm not the biggest fan of those genres, so it's not the worst thing for me, but still. Although one of the channels I get (it might be 4Music?), used to do a special chart for a few hours every week for only rock songs, which was at least something.

The pop music channels have always been biased against rock/indie music. Back when it actually had a presence in the charts (so not like nowadays), the likes of The Box only really played the big acts like Coldplay, U2, you know those kind of acts - the ones who would get a hit anyway. They certainly never supported new rock/indie acts, but made huge efforts to try to break crappy pop acts with stupid promo slots during the adverts breaks :nocheer: To be fair, though, it's not like rock/indie fans would be watching The Box, so they were probably just aware of their audience - which was very much pop and dance fans, you would only need to have watched their Boxtops chart (of their most requested videos) to know that.

That's all I seem to see when I flick through the music channels these days - endless countdowns :arrr: They're way safer than they used to be, sadly. It's a shame.

I agree with you on both O-Zone and D12. Both two of my favourites for sure.

I also want Usher (Yeah!), Britney (Toxic), Kelis (Milkshake), Rachel Stevens and Eric Prydz to do well.

Oh yeah, the countdowns can be annoying. :drama: I mean, they can be relatively interesting the first time you watch them, and can remind you of songs you might've liked but forgotten, etc, but some channels do one, then repeat it every fortnight, which is just :drama:.

I was drunk most of 2004, but I remember most of these. I voted D12 because it's UTTERLY UNLISTENABLE and barely even music. Baby Cakes, while terrible, is soooo much fun to hate.
I actually remember all of these fairly well, though 'Hotel' only vaguely. Theres a hell of a lot of crap though, even if I rather liked 2004 on the whole. Peter Andre gets my vote though, didnt it deny poor brave Jamelia a #1? Horrific song anyway.
Busted - Thunderbirds :puke: :puke: Loved this as a kid, but has aged really badly

Some horrible songs in here - Maroon 5 is the worst though. One of the worst songs I've ever heard...then Natasha Bedingfield, nearly as bad.

Looks like I won't be alone voting for M5 then :D But I want to get rid of the Eamon $h!te first

Steve Brookstein - Against All Odds

Awww. I love Natasha Bedingfield! :o Well, the chorus at least.
