Posted April 27, 201114 yr The Voice is an American reality talent show that premiered on April 26, 2011, on the television network NBC. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton are the judges and vocal coaches. The judges are unable to see the acts when they are performing, they are only able to listen to them and if they like what they're hearing and feel that they want them on their team, they press their button, their chair turns around and they get to see the act. The first episode aired last night in America and I thought it was fantastic! It's so much better than programmes like The X Factor and American Idol because they're actually searching for talent. They're not interested in how the artist looks, it's how they make them feel and I give them a lot of praise for it. Has anyone else watched it? Jx9msPbwgnQ
April 28, 201114 yr I was meaning to download that. I really like the concept, glad that it was a good show :)
April 28, 201114 yr I really loved the first episode, I love the concept of it, all the contestants where really good and the judges (coaches) are really good. I also like that the contestants get to pick who mentors them (if there's more than 1 person that wants them) Can't wait for the next ep!
April 28, 201114 yr Author Does anyone know where I can download the first episode ? You can watch it streamed online via one of the links here.
April 28, 201114 yr I quite enjoyed it, and I loved the idea of the judges not being able to see the act. But once we get to the live shows, will the American public be able to see them on screen whilst they sing? It may be a bit odd if not, but if you can, wouldn't that kinda defeat the object of the show?
April 28, 201114 yr really like this, inspired by Susan Boyle perhaps? i think the BBC should pick this up could easily rival X Factor. I quite enjoyed it, and I loved the idea of the judges not being able to see the act. But once we get to the live shows, will the American public be able to see them on screen whilst they sing? It may be a bit odd if not, but if you can, wouldn't that kinda defeat the object of the show? the next round seems to still be about the voice only still as 2 acts sing the same song but only 1 will go through.
April 28, 201114 yr this sounds great tbh- I'd love to see this be more successful than US X Factor, its seems so much better and a really good panel Edited April 28, 201114 yr by chart wizard
April 28, 201114 yr I really really enjoyed this! It wipes the floor with Idol & The X Factor in concept & judging panel. They have some really talented people & I'll be watching until the end!
April 29, 201114 yr You can watch it streamed online via one of the links here. Thanks ! I watched it and really enjoyed it ! The panel works greatly, Christina is GOD and Adam is so so so so fit. Yum. There are so many sob stories though, I'd say even more than on the X Factor  I didn't find the contestants that talented though. Most of them had a very good voice but that was it, I wasn't that blown away by any of them, as far as I remember. Can't wait for episode 2 though !
April 30, 201114 yr Aguilera has a weak group so far... 2 black bitches and a fierce lesbian? Didn't like the country guy in a hat that is in Blake's group. Too strict, straight, LOUD and stuff like that, you know, that make his image so much heavy and EXHAUSTING. I was like, he's a cutey pie indeed, but hell watching and hearing him sucks all of my energy out, get him off the stage already. Edited April 30, 201114 yr by Pavel
May 4, 201114 yr I'll have to check this out, love the concept of the show. However...it's not exactly an american show. Wasn't it originally a dutch show? I quite enjoyed it, and I loved the idea of the judges not being able to see the act. But once we get to the live shows, will the American public be able to see them on screen whilst they sing? It may be a bit odd if not, but if you can, wouldn't that kinda defeat the object of the show? Think about it though, hiding them would be pointless because we'd have already seen what they look like in the auditions. May 4, 201114 yr Author However...it's not exactly an american show. Wasn't it originally a dutch show? Yes I think it was originally a Dutch television show, but the Americans have done their twist on it.
May 4, 201114 yr Watching the first episode now, there's so much wallowing in self pity though. (like the guy who was bullied at school, I mean really?) I think someone mentioned it earlier. Moreso than in the X Factor. It's also a bit too dramatic for my liking.....but American shows often seem to be like that so I suppose it's not a big deal. Edited May 4, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
May 4, 201114 yr UIt's no more dramatic than American Idol tbh  Anyway I'm slightly disappointed that the auditions aren't ACTUALLY in the dark if you know what I mean :kink:
May 4, 201114 yr For some reason I thought the judges would be facing in the singers direction but they'd be behind a wall or curtain. Rotating chairs are much more swanky though. :P Loving Kelsey Ray. I also like how they don't have any joke auditions like on X Factor. Sure it's funny but after a while it feels a bit tacky. May 4, 201114 yr love love love this show so much, already more interesting than Idol this current season.
May 4, 201114 yr Beverley Mcclellen so reminds me of Lisa Wallace from Big Brother 9 UK. Only in looks though, Beverley is like the polar oppisite of Lisa personality wise. love love love this show so much, already more interesting than Idol this current season. I know, from watching the first show there's a nice group of singers that made it that I really like. From the first episode I'm loving: Rebecca Loebe Kelsey Rey Jeff Jenkins Beverley Mclellen Xenia Vicci Martinez That's a good chunk of those that got through, even the ones I didn't list I think are all very strong too. Honestly don't think any of those that got through were rubbish or even near poor. (might grow on me when I hear them sing another song). Interesting that Sonia Rao didn't get through, I think it seemed like something X Factor would gobble up in a heartbeat. Sonia was very good, but imo not as good as the six I listed above...at least for me. Edit: On another note, if the voice came to the UK who would you want as judges? Again like the American version of The Voice I'd like to see all four being respectable that can really get the feeling of a great voice. None of this manager/producer rubbish. They should be from 4 varies genres too. I haven't though of all of them but I think Adele would make an amazing coach for a UK version of The Voice. Edited May 5, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
May 5, 201114 yr Really enjoyed episode 2 too ! Mainly for the interactions with/between the judges though, because I wasn't blown away by the contestants. Some were very good, some were very random voice-wise. And so many sob stories in that episode again. "Hi, I'm gay, and my dad don't know about it... until now". How tacky is that. They want to focus on the voice and not the looks, great, but they could as well avoid the sob stories. Thankfully the contestants weren't exposing their stories in front of the judges. Oh and I think the 'second chance' part at the end was cheap. They should have auditioned more people, and not recycled previous rejects. On a separate note, Adam is :kink: and Christina is
