Now i'm curious on how her next album will do, will she decline due to the overhype of Born This Way or will she just keep on increasing on sales...

What I don't understand is people banging on about how many she sold in the US when it was almost given out for free (well, less than a dollar!) lol

Wow, bitter much? It was given out for free during 24hrs, the week has 7 days. Amazon has 19% of the digital market which, in itself, is probably around 19% of total sales. Besides, let's not fool ourselves, she would have huge sales in the U.S. without the 90cent promotion and Amazon lowers the price for lots of huge releases (3.90 for TSwift's last album, also for Kanye and Nicki Minaj etc).

What I don't understand is how certain haters can be so arrogant and not realise (despite being told many times) that the $0.99 deal was not Gaga's doing. Interscope sold the album to Amazon for $9 and Amazon decided to sell the album for $0.99 as a loss-leader to create hype and publicity for its improved MP3 service.

BTW could potentialy sell more than the combined 1st week sales of "Femme Fatale", "Loud", "Teenage Dream", "Love?" and "Cannibal" (not that the final 2 sold very many) which was around 830,000 (i think)

It will sell in USA 2 times more then what Femme Fatale has sold in its entire chart run. In the UK it already sold almost twice as FF in just 1 day! Britney Spears is nothing these days.

Wash your mouth out with soap & water - Britney is much hotter than Lady Gaga could ever be! ;)

Being 'hot' doesn't get you sales - take a look at Adele. Britney may be 'hotter' but her music is 100x worse than Lady GaGa and she is just about irrelevant today, the general public are tired of her and have moved on.

Britney's music is much better than Lady Gaga's imo. Even Till the World Ends, I don't think there's been any Gaga song I've enjoyed as much as that (except maybe Chillin').

But thats your opinion though, the general public has moved on like I said. Lady GaGa's fanbase is much bigger than Britney's which is why all of GaGa's singles entered in the top 20 when released OA/OS. Brit had to wait a week or two to get her T10 hit (Hold It Against Me) which fell down the chart very fast

Some people think Hold It Against Me would've charted higher if it was released the same time as everywhere else in the world. Obviously we can never know though. Maybe the same might've happened if Born This Way was held back. People bought it because it's Lady Gaga, but maybe if they heard the song beforehand they might've decided not to buy it.

Till the World Ends has been absolutely huge in the US though.

I wouldn't say the general public has "moved on" from Britney. Just the way it works these days is that if people hear a song, and if people like it, they buy it. So clearly with Britney, people aren't hearing her songs, and people aren't liking her songs. Kind of similar with Lady Gaga. I think this era has been a success for far for her, but she's doing poorly compared to what she was in 2009.

I don't think that's fair to say. Born This Way has been a huge hit everywhere and her album is set to do much better than The Fame was doing in 2009.

People are always thinking about the next album, whenever anyone has a successful album people always go 'Oh i wonder how she'll do on the next one' Dont bother, just think about this one for now, its only just come out will probably be the most recent album for over a year at the least!

I think a lot of people underestimated the first week sales of this album, and now the poll is going more towards to the 200k+ way because people already know the mids

I voted 200-250k from the very start :smoke:

I wouldn't consider this era "poorly" at all considering her album is bombing the charts worldwide. Single wise she's decreased but album wise she's still growing.

Universal Music now has the last four million selling debuts as Lady Gaga joins Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent in a very rare category these days. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

*Lady Gaga (Interscope) 1m+

*Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) 145-155k

Adele (XL/Columbia) 125-135k

*Glee Cast Vol. 6 (Columbia) 75-80k

Now 38 (Capitol/EMI) 45-50k

*Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made, Vol. 1 (Maybach/WB) 45-50k

*NKOTBSB (Columbia/Jive/Legacy) 35-40k

*Journey (Nomota) 25-30k (Wal-Mart exclusive)

*Foster The People (Startime/Columbia) 25-30k

Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 24-27k

Seether (Wind-up) 21-24k

Beastie Boys (Capitol/EMI) 18-21k

Lady Gaga The Fame (Interscope) 18-21k

Lemonade Mouth (Walt Disney) 18-21k

Fleet Foxes (Sub Pop) 18-21k

*Debuts (5/26p)

Don't forget, she just spent longer at #1 in the US with one song than she has ever spent with her other #1s combined...

gaga will sell around 220k this week here and then probably about 150k next week, then be taken over by artic monkeys new release and then by take that's new progressed album

oh my god EVERY time i see you post it's bashing lady gaga. then again, looking at the woman in your avatar, it's not that much of a surprise.

surely selling an album for 99 cents is better than having someone illegally download it because they can't afford the actual price? the buyers obviously intended on buying the album, they didn't "give it away". if there is intent there, it's a fair sale imo.
