Considering those who qualified earlier, it's certainly looking better for Blue. If UK end up in the bottom half of the scoreboard after the last set of results are announced on Saturday night then something is WRONG I tells ya!!! :o

Which would see Ireland royally SLAUGHTERED, Queen D's return along with Anastasia and Eric thrust into the spotlight, a nice big contrast between Blue, Nadine and Lena (and Dino after), good early contrasts between Denmark, Estonia and Slovenia (don't forget 7th is a better slot than it would first seem - Zsob si Zdub '05, Boaz '08, Yohanna '09, Tom Dice '10) and some nice death for Romania.

Slow Down wouldn't have won Phil. Loon glasses off :P Top five possibly.

I pray that they would have stuck with Nótt had the Icelandic had ears or brains.

Nott wouldn't have won either.

I'm certain Ireland won't qualify, but if we do then we'll flop regardless of our performing position...
Nott wouldn't have won either.

I did say perhaps. We all know she's flawless live. Top3 would have been near certain for her though.

They'd have gone with Slow Down - 100%, it was originally recorded as that and then translated into Icelandic because of the new rules in their NF apparently.

I think Yohanna would have been looking at low top ten-mid table. Granted she wouldn't have embarrassed herself on the comeback trail as much as Dana International is about to but she certainly wouldn't have been doing a Dima Bilan...

Sjonni's Friends could actually do roundabout as well as she'd have done, which is a surprise :o

Amazing show tonight! Can't believe some of the qualifiers! Major shock at Switzerland going through in particular, but so glad they did! From my original predictions, I got 7/10, and from the ones I did tonight after all songs had been sung I got 8/10. Unbelievable that Norway and Turkey are out. That must be the first time since...1999 that Turkey haven't been in the final? Wait, no I've just looked and it's the first time since 1994! :o

Being vocally flawless isn't the only thing to it. She sounded dead behind the eyes during the Icelandic NF performance.

If it's vocally flawless you're after, tune into Semi 2 on Thursday for the goddess also known as Nadine Beiler! I'm also hoping that Maja Keuc pulls it out of the bag, my confidence in them both qualifying has gone up significantly after looking at tonights results - quality songs deserve quality results, whilst crap deserves to fail.

judging from rehearsals Dino is very solid vocally too... granted he is not singing anything extremely complicated, but after today... i'd be happy with do-mi-so-do repeated perfectly in pitch for 3 minutes

05 Hungary

She has no chance anymore.

So, UK or Ireland to win! :teresa:

WHAT. THE. f***. Just cause some random Icelandic guy died that $h!te beats one of the best ESC songs of the past few years (Haba Haba). I had an inkling Norway would miss out though :( NU ANNA BERGENDAHL :nocheer:

On the contrary, I think they'll do far better than people expect - the juries will surely reward them for their sentiment and televoters will be more aware of the song being in 21st. Slow Down (as it would have been) is nowhere near as good as Is It True and I don't think it would have been a top 3 contender - not to mention the fact that that AWFUL Magni Mangusson or whatever his name was would have actually been here over Yohanna anyway

I'm sorry to see Yohanna not here as I do obviously prefer Slow Down/Nott to Coming Home BUT at the same time, I'm pleasantly surprised with how well they seem to have done so far, and I've always liked the song. Iceland usually flick between power ballads and camp Eurodance anthems, so it's nice to see that they can get something completely different into the final as well.

Random Icelandic guy? Sigurjón Brink was far away from being just anybody. He was one of the all time greatest artists of Iceland. The Icelandic song is special, it's a sweet, beautiful tribute to a dear friend of Sjonni's friends. The song is different from all the other songs in the SF1. They sang very well and their performance was great.

Norway? Seriously? The norwegian song sounded like every other new song you hear on the radio. It sounded very alike "waka waka its time for africa" to me, which isn't very good. And the lyrics are just terrible.

Jóhanna (Yohanna) wasn't voted nr. 1 because mainly people didn't like the song itself. But her singing is always beautiful.

Magni Ásgeirsson is one of icelands greatest rockers ever. He has a beautiful voice. You may recognize him from Rockstar: Supernova. You can see him if you go to youtube and search magin dolphins cry.

Is it just me, or is the greek song one of the worst entries in eurovision from beginning?

Did they release the results for the semi? They don't usually do that do they?

It says here:

1. Hungary

2. Azerbaijan

3. Iceland

4. Serbia

5. Finland

6. Greece

7. Russia

8. Georgia

9. Switzerland

10. Lithuania

Were the placings of the qualifiers...

They get released after the final. The above could be correct, as reports regarding which country has won the exclusive jury vote that took place a few years back were sometimes accurate, but I'd be more tempted to say that's just someone guessing tbh...

I remember that the order of the qualifiers were leaked in 2005 because I rushed to put money on Romania's Luminita Anghel after seeing that she'd won the (one and only) semi  Helena won though of course, an auto qualifier...
