Posted May 11, 201114 yr I hope this shallow thread of mine is allowed. :( So we start with Semi 1. Prepare yourselves for a long essay. And yes, i do remember every performance with each detail even after a long day of stupid work that i am quitting in 2 weeks anyway. Ha! ============================================== 01 / Poland - Magdalena Tul - "Jestem" So this year's show started with probably the most forgettable song in the competition. Pretty much like all the time. Anyway, Magdalena really appeared to be quite bold and aggressive for me. She seemed to have a big mouth too in such lighting as well i noticed. Bitch got it together well after the first verse and finished pretty good actually. I imagine she came like 15th or even above. Staging was awful, if i can call it staging. IIRC it was only her and some other bitches dancing along? In that case yeah it was awful and effortless. Also, darling, those sleeves look AWFUL on you. 02 / Norway - Stella Mwangi - "Haba Haba" Yeah absolutely adore the instrumental parts of this song with this amazing hand-booty-turn-shake dance. Goosebumps. Other than that she obviously appeared to be very warm and sweet. And i love the hair. Yes. Totally suits her wonderful face. The only problems i had with this performance are the DRESS and sometimes shaky vocals. The dress was SO HORRIBLE i wanted to die. but i didn't as i wanted to know results. 03 / Albania - Aurela Gaçe - "Feel The Passion" LOVED IT ALL. She is supposedly Albanian version of P!nk as the commentators said! Powerful, red and wonderful. Had it been a slightly more memorable song with a twist or had something special, it'd so have qualified. Uh very disappointed at Europe right now. Also they're not qualifying since like forever ago last time. Who will finish 17th this time?! ): 04 / Armenia - Emmy - "Boom Boom" JUST KILL ME. Horrid performance. The ONLY thing i couldn't take my eyes off is the dancers OBVZ. Oh my father died and i am dedicating this song to him. Sad, yes, but let's not dedicate this awful performance, ear-damaging vocals and looking like a SLUT to anyone with a pair of eyes and ears, even if this person is dead. 05 / Turkey - Yüksek Sadakat - "Live It Up" AND COMPLETELY DIDN'T RIP-OFF THEIR LAST YEAR'S ENTRY! Woman appearing in the end? No? The singer was so half-arsed about doing this actually. Looked as if he thought they had it in the bag. I mean he was more comfortable in that scene than probably at home. And guess what? They FAILED TO QUALIFY. It'll finally teach them how to not send SAME SHIT two years in a row. BTW that girl in the cage was as flexible as f***. I wonder if she can actually touch her vagina with her mouth? 06 / Serbia - Nina - "Čaroban" It was AMAZING. My 2nd favourite performance of the night. So cathy, vocals were AMAZING, facial expressions - just brilliant. Nothing to say bad about it really... Staging - AMAZING, costumes - AMAZING, song - AMAZING, back-up dancers/singer - AMAZING x3. I'd have voted if i had enough credit left. )': And obviously I am absolutely happy that it went through. Very well deserved. 07 / Russia - Alexey Vorobyov - "Get You" It was good actually. Intro was beautiful. Didn't like the "С днем победы" (Happy victory day) phrase he said afterwards though. Seemed so out of place, unnecessary and cocky. I know he's not as cocky and absolutely AWFUL as Jon Lilygreen but let's not lower yourself to such horridness. 08 / Switzerland - Anna Rossinelli - "In Love For a While" OMG I WANTED TO FLY INTO DUSSELDORF AND CUT THAT HAND RIGHT OFF. And this qualified? Probably the dullest song EVER if you ask me. Definitely shock of the night. It must've qualified from 10th position and have been massively loved by the juries? Anyway i hope she gets the performing slot before Lithuania and therefore finishes bottom 2 in the final. 09 / Georgia - Eldrine - "One More Day" INCREDIBLENESS. So powerful and anthemic. I wasn't a fan of the song at all before this and even jokingly predicted loving it after seeing the performance. And it really happened. Weird. Georgia is on a roll. 3 MASSIVE entries in 5 years! Anyway, the vocali8st really started not as strong at first but slowly managed to improve and by the beginning of the last set of choruses she was unstoppable. Like FLAWLESS. Top 10 in the final please. Also, she looks so much like Jennifer Love-Hewitt, just wanted to tell haha! 10 / Finland - Paradise Oskar - "Da Da Dam" Blah blah. Eco-friendly $h!t and all, we get you. I noticed the crowd was pretty WILD after him performing and announcing he made to the final! Don't see the appeal. And even russian commentators loved him. WHY?!? Loving the violin parts obviously though. Oh and i thought the Earth behind him would rise further and further up until by the end of the song it shows completely... but it didn't happen. I was disappointed. 11 / Malta - Glen Vella - "One Life" 'Oh yeah here's the t***** one'. *song starts* 'OMG IT'S A MAN'. Seriously thought it was a woman! Performance was outstanding. Confident, powerful <3 MJ-tastic in some of the sounds too. He wasn't too campy too which is a plus. A very good performer with an average song. 12 / San Marino - Senit - Stand By FIRE THAT HAIRDRESSER. You looked like a tramp after a catfight in the street behind a bar. Vocals - shaky, confidence - appeared for short moments and then gone again. I was rooting for San Marino for the first time this year. After such so-so performance i wasn't happy obviously. I also noticed that when back-up singers tried o sing along with Senit it all sounded SO much better. And performance-wise she used this safe pose, a narrow range of emotions, absolutely no spark... SHAME ): 13 / Croatia - Daria - Celebrate OMG anyone noticed the moment RIGHT after the faux-dubstep part when she threw her hands up and started walking away dancing. Her face was HILARIOUS. Performance definitely deserves and WON the most AWKWARD number of the night. She was so BIG and looking heavy. But of course i couldn't hate on my Daria who was my Top 2 favourite of the whole contest like ALL of the time before the semifinals. 14 / Iceland - Sigurjón's Friends - "Coming Home" Vocals were actually VERY good, but i am not keen on the song, set and actual PITY PARTY going on. This is a song contest, not a OMG HE DIED, I NEED TO VOTE FOR THIS SONG EVEN THOUGH I LIKE SLEPT ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT, LITERALLY. 15 / Hungary - Kati Wolf - "What About My Dreams" DRAG QUEENS UNITE! I actually voted for this, just to feel the peer pleasure of being a runnishgai. She was awful vocally in some places though. Blue colour reminded me of Hero performance. So awaiting for the same result for DAME WOLF? 16 / Portugal - Homens da Luta - "A luta é alegria" It was great, the whole thing! Vocals were not as messy as in the national final performance, characters looked AMAZING, their acting skills were great. Loved the different languages signs part OBVZ. I wanted it to qualify definitely. 17 / Lithuania - Evelina Sašenko - "C'est ma vie" Ridiculous pronunciation. Qualified partly for the sheer effect of the language sign skills she showed. Overall it was strong, confident, if not a bit boring performance with probably the most generic song of the genre this song belongs to. 18 / Azerbaijan - Ell & Nikki - "Running Scared" 'I'M GONNA TAKE MY HAND OUT OF HIS HAND LOOKING LIKE IT WAS ACCIDENTALLY' 'OH SHT HE GRABBED IT AGAIN WHAT SHOULD I DO, PANIK ATTACK' She really looked BLANK and dull. At first i thought it was another N'evergreen/Chanee moment but then they actually did some face-to-face intimacy stuff which denmark 2010 duo lacked COMPLETELY. This song is still as boring as hell. 19 / Greece - Loukas Giorkas feat. Stereo Mike - "Watch My Dance" AMAZING. I WANT TO HAVE HIS BABIES. Of course they would not hit those bigger notes as their father lacks the ability for doing that but at least they'd look like GREEK GODS/GODDESSES. I love everything about Greece and especially their traditional music and dances. So it was a pleasure for me to watch this performance, especially that it was the closing one. ============================================ SEMI 1 PERFORMANCES RANK 1. Georgia 2. Serbia 3. May 11, 201114 yr I'd agree the two best performances last night came from Serbia & Georgia. Although I'd disagree I thought Switzerland was really nice too, it's growing on me so much. I was a bit meh about it when I first heard it too.
May 12, 201114 yr tbh I don't see this Georgia love here :manson: I had Georgia in my top 20 for a long time, but after the preformance in semi final one it was just a bloody earrape
May 12, 201114 yr I thought the Georgian performance actually bought more to the song. It's rocketted up my rankings!
May 12, 201114 yr I don't see how anyone is taking this seriously. Portugal is 3rd on Pavel's ranking. THIRD. I know Pavel's music taste has taken a nose dive recently but my god that;s one hell of a nose dive to deem that piece of $h!t anything other than bottom 3.
