'Temple Grandin' was incredible and probably the best performance she'll ever do but I liked the pilot.

 

I know 'Temple Grandin' won every television award for two years running (or so goes the joke) but suspect old-age make-up puts me off.

Jesus. There is not a single hit new drama so far this season on broadcast. Revenge looked good at first but its 18-49s run (3.3, 2.7, 2.4) suggests it'll only become a minor hit although if it bottoms at 2.2 then it should be good for a full order. Person of Interest and Terra Nova are the only ones scoring roughly in the 3.0 region but the latter is so expensive to make that that can't even be considered a hit. Just awful across the networks. Comedies are doing well though.

 

Of what's being held for midseason, I'd say Scandal (ABC), Alcatraz and Finder (FOX), Awake and Smash (NBC) could all become reasonable hits. The River I'm on the fence about. I can imagine Good Christian Belles and Once Upon A Time will be flops for ABC.

 

Claire Danes is not in any WAY doughy, my GOD she could do with EATING SOME DOUGH. As for her performance in Homeland, it is incredible. She is so intense and the show itself is amazingly gripping. It's almost as good as/complex as S3/4 of BSG which is incredibly high praise from me. Obviously with it being on Showtime is has to fill up the female nudity quota but WHY did Morena Baccarin (whom I adore) have to go FULL FRONTAL in episode 1.

Things are bad at NBC. How bad? We already knew they'd been beaten last night by Univision, but that's nothing new, it's the second time that's happened on a Monday and the season's just 4 weeks old.

 

Last night (10/10/11) NBC was beaten across the board* by its NBCU corporate sibling USA Network's primetime line up of an NCIS repeat and two hours of WWE Raw.

I don't think there is any coming back from being beaten by wrestling and an NCIS repeat on your own Cable channel.

Last night was a disaster all-round. 2.1 for Castle! It might still get a renewal though because a full season order would put it to 76-78 episodes and from there it's not far to syndication. Terra Nova won't make it beyond 13 episodes. Even the eighth season of House is beating it for christ's sake!

The mass amount of sport screwed over the whole schedule. Fox's shows were push back an hour so TN aired at 9pm and House aired at 10pm.

I am saddened, but not totally surprised, by the underperformance of Terra Nova. I just hope we get a suitable conclusion to it before they cancel it.

With all the money they have thrown at it, I think they'll give it the 13episodes then axe it.

Same. I think it's a very interesting concept. It is very light viewing though, so I'm surprised it's not doing a bit better. I'd suspect it does a lot better on DVR, and recordings opossed to live viewing though, as even though I'm a fan, I can't say it is a show I am itching to watch all the time like I was with LOST!

I wouldn't write NBC off until after the Superbowl and we've seen whether Smash & Awake are hits (and see if The Voice can be as big in S2), but things don't look good. Even if they are hits I don't know if them alone can help re-build the network. Really need a great pilot season next year.

 

The CW looks even worse. They'll probably give it another season to see if the new Head can do much with it, but if things don't improve during 2012/13 then I don't know what'll happen. Could try re-branding again, but I can't see it making a massive difference.

 

Wouldn't mind a channel merger for NBC, but I don't want to 'lose' any networks as such.

I just watched the second episode of 'Homeland' and wow! Easily the best new show of the season.

 

91% on Metacritic too! I can see Claire Danes beating Julianna Margulies next year.

Deservedly so, unless J Marg pulls out another powerhouse perf like she did in the BIG REVEAL episode last season.

I want Jark to be there when it happens.
