Haha I'm already plotting to get Tom and Martin to allow it with me just to p*** you off :lol:
I'll have you and Martin removed as moderators before you could even try such a thing. ^_^

There is no way on god's earth we'd have grounds to veto any entry again after letting one of the years biggest comebacks from one of Buzzjack's favourite artists [And Europe's best selling girlband of this millennium] in, even as an Ashton entry.

Oh and I actually would have you removed. The only reason you pair have the power to warn in this forum and are in the Mod group is because I fought André to get you the full privileges of being a moderator.

News to me :kink: Did a sample leak btw? Much excite (though not as much as the GA comeback or BTW)

No, a really LQ Live performance from their Moroccan gig.

And Tom clearly know's which side his bread is buttered on :smoke: [Your cheque is in the mail]

There is no way on god's earth we'd have grounds to veto...bla bla bla...loondom loondom loondom...as an Ashton entry.

Oh and I actually would have you removed. Yack yack yack...power trip power trip... being a moderator.

Don't worry I'd not actually try it :P As if I'd ACTUALLY get away with it anyways! :lol:

I entered Robots In Love over at NSC too. It qualified from it's semi. Although it came 22nd in the Final (and turned out it came 9th in it's semi)

Although if I remember correctly there was one or two people who were really happy with the discovery so I guess it was worth it then. :)

The taste police are on their way out now to investigate this tragedy.

I don't even want to KNOW what latest megastar singles managed to come in front of it :drama:

NSC strikes me as the most pointless contest ever. Hasn't every Lady Gaga single been entered and finished top five over there or something DIRE like that?
Variation of Birds for numbah one.

NSC does have that problem and those songs usually win but on the other hand, the variety of songs entered is much bigger than here.

Which is a good thing if your favourite genre isn't Pop/RnB, I guess. :P

The Ashton entry rank - #31

31 || Sugababes - Too Lost In You - #10's spin off.

How inspired can you be when you've to enter a song that's hit #10 on the UK chart? This was of course going to be my entry, a stunning ballad by my favourite band. While I'd score this as an 11/10 moment it sits this low as I've sent far more inspired things to this dear contest.

NSC strikes me as the most pointless contest ever. Hasn't every Lady Gaga single been entered and finished top five over there or something DIRE like that?

Actually in the last contest Judas by Lady Gaga was entered and it failed to qualify from the semis.

I don't think it's necessarily a cheap contest, just extremley varied (and maybe a little random sometimes too) Taste wise it's so much more diverse than BJSC.

Also to be fair there's only one country that insists on sending absolutely every Lady Gaga track, I'm fully expecting them to send Edge of Glory next month.

Robots In Love was probably my greatest winner in a way, very original, charming and gorgeous :wub: Also managed to win Unknown Pleasures a month or two later on CHC so it definitely had widespread appeal. Not sure that Livvi Franc would have done very well on there! I guess By My Side is one of my more forgotten entries (even I forget about it sometimes) but I do love it when it comes on shuffle, it's quite powerful. I know there was some resentment at it going top five at the time though, as some people would rather see 'token cheap song' in there as opposed to 'token formulaic Scandipop song'.

Never thought that much of Right Hand Hi, Boys Will Be Boys shouldn't have won (although it was decent) and Michelle was great for about a week when I also thought that her album was the greatest thing sicne sliced bread, but it wore off me incredibly quickly.

Each to their own.

Remember your EOY chart last year, where truly STUNNING year defining tracks were trailing in behind Justin Beiber's Baby :(

There's no denying it's a subtly stunning little track, I just don't listen to it that much any more. I do however have a perfect recall for Scandi-by-numbers :heehee:

I prefer 8bit heart fractionally to her album. I didn't take to Right Hand Hi until much later, and Boys Will Be Boys was my discovery damnit! The thing had been up 15minutes when I posted it intending to enter it. That was when I vowed to destroy that reservation thing once and for all. :arrr: Easily the thing I'm most proud of doing as a BJSC mod tbh :lol:

Which were a direct reaction to the absolute joke that was XIV. And not forgetting the rule of letting ESC NF songs in, I don't know quite why it caused SUCH a stir.

It was, I just recall being mesmerised by her glorious voice and the combination of the perfect rap and beautiful backing track. There's something I find very entrancing about northern Sweden, the whole song/video just had a very sudden and instant impact on me. Their album on the whole was very good actually, I must dig it out again, Shirt Off was great too!

When I pm'd you about it, you said it was ok but would need a few more listens. Shame that turned to hate :drama: I don't regret my decision to send it though (obviously - it won!).

It would be good for transparency I think.

Indeed, Rontvia AND Ashton in the top five together happens incredibly rarely, about as often as Norway and Iceland hold down the top 2 in ESC!

Gaga and the like have made Smack Me's production sound prehistoric now :( I still love the melody/hook/lyrics but it's crying out for a 2011 makeover!

It speaks volumes that Sugababes have been entered more times than I can remember, but only ever by Ashton :lol: Let alone vetoed, surely outright banned if not sent by Ashton? :o As outrageous as somebody but Numayania sending Alcazar, or Rontvia sending Sheelah!

I was rather shocked at the massive backlash the removal of the NF rule provoked. Which then initiated the constant polls and arguments which very very nearly killed the contest. Killing the polls and the break saved this contest. Sure we suffered a big dip in participation but we really needed that break to regroup and iron out a few underlying problems.

I'll have to add that album to my list to acquire. It really was very instant.

I initially though Glorious was alright as well :lol: Like I said, it's good for Rontvia to get nil points every now and then.

We did it in BJSC XXXI too :cheer: With The Last Time [Which I am currently listening too] and Underwear.

I'm quite content with the almost demo feel to the track, it's a BJSC Classic.

They have been in 4 contests, a spin off and the Xmas Special all for Ashton ^_^ Protectionist policies [including a very near war with Torchwood] helped insure that Ashton are the only country to have sent them :lol: It'd just be weird for someone else to send them now with them being so dominant in Ashton establishing it's early sound.

Alcazar and Sheelah being sent by someone else would be criminal.

I love how humourless Phil's commitment to moderation is :kink:

My humourless commitment to the Sugababes you mean, no?

NSC always struck me as being in need of some Anti-cheap measures.

#80-76

080 || Jody - Wind It [Kathaldazia - XV]

This butchering is all that's available in the UK with Rich's original video being blocked in the UK -_- DISGRACEFUL. This copyright bollocks is really p***ing me off. I wish they weren't such c**ts about it. ANYWAYS, this should have won. CRIMINAL that it didn't. [iirc some Mdice song won] The bassline from Don't Stop The Music and just sheer amazingness of the rest of the melody combined with a catchy as hell hook. The instrumental at 2:30 on that video is stunning and is much longer in the original edit :wub:

079 || VV Brown - Shark In The Water [Mdice - XVI]

Talking of Mdice, I just adore this track. It's so summery and punchy. She supported P!nk when I went to the Summer Funhouse Carnival thing last year in Glasgow and she was brilliant. This track is fantastic live, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with how good she was live.

Unfortunately the poor cow is on Island Records and Managed by Crown so she's destined to be a complete and utter flop GabCilmi style forever. I finally found Crown's website the other day, and of all the records they have had a hand in selling the vast majority of them [well over 75%] are from the Sugababes. I wonder who the cash cow is there.....

078 || Manian - Welcome To The Club [Greenfroze - XVI]

I love clubland trash k. It's the only way I get new Mutya Buena music :lol: I rather enjoy living it up Chav style every now and then [i do live in Dundee after all] and this is perfect for my Chav needs. I actually happen to really really like this track too. I imagine I will be alone in this....

077 || SamSaya - Money [Hendinia - XVII]

There's just something about SamSaya that I love, don't quite know what it is. This is a pretty infectious piece of Pop with quite a dancy feel to it.

076 || Kerli - Tea Party [Numayania - XXV]

Who the fuck would think that a song about a sodding Tea Party and failing to RSVP to aforementioned Tea Party would be so mind blowingly brilliant?????? I fooking love this song.

Kerli :wub: I'll have to rank my own entries some day... this is another one I kind of forgot I sent :lol:

Actually now Italy is back in ESC, do you think we should work at getting Mdice back in BJSC :kink:

The Ashton entry rank - #30

30 || Amy MacDonald - Barrowland Ballroom - IX

Still under the influence of my first festival where I was dragged to Amy MacDonald because my friends were fans and I was keen to see the act either side. We ended up front row for Amy and my god she was good. I never saw the fuss until then. Very good live and very much a 'real guuuurl' [Copyright Mutya Buena 2007] in that she was insanely normal on stage [she admitted that she was actually camping with everyone else and had been seeing the acts from where we were standing] So under the influence of TITP I bought the album and fell in love with this track. It was entered for Ashton as it would have been a little too cheap to send the singles in the era when Ashton was doing quite well [This was entered in the middle of our last success streak] with album tracks from reasonable names. This was entered between Gab Cilmi and the Sugababes of all people!

NO.

I want to get top3 on the all time rankings. Not to mention how utterly DIRE half their entries were. Brandy [X] remains the single WORST winner in this contest. Such a bland non-entity of a track, it can be used to cure insomnia. Although death may occur from choking on vomit brought about by the utter horrificness of the song after it's bored you into a coma [At approx 5 seconds into the track]

Erm, OK then :lol:

You are right to say their entries were generally overrated, it was generally the ones that did badly, like Tiesto in XX (:wub:) that did badly :heehee: Looking at X, it looks HORRIFICALLY cheap. Lady Gaga second? :/

075 || Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love [Torchwood - XXV]

This managed to get my 12 points over Caro [!!!] for making me like a song by noted cuntface Diana 'The Claw' Vickers. She remains utterly hideous to look at, but I still rather enjoy this song, just not as much as Caro...

074 || Oh Land - Sun Of A Gun [isconia - XXXI]

Getting a single point off Ashton for an Indie entry under the expanded points system is quite some feat, but this beast. MY GOD. Isconia got a lot more than a single point out of Ashton for this utterly fantastic track. This is about as Indie as I go :lol: Well, this and She & Him.

073 || f(x) - Nu ABO [New Caprica - XXX]

When there remains utter GEMS like this New Caprica should not be moving away from it's K Pop strategy. SORT IT OUT DANIEL. One of two KPop tracks in the countdown, this is the only one actually sung in Korean. This song is actually f***ing amazing. It deserved at least a top10 placing.

072 || Florrie - Call Of The Wild [unoshake - XXXI]

XXXI was a brilliant contest, one of the strongest we've had for a while. Getting in on the action with a utterly stunning track was Unoshake. Not their best entry, that's still to come, but certainly their 2nd best.

071 || Little Boots - Meddle [Kopecka - VIII]

When I saw Little Boots live at TITP this was the only track I knew and what a track it is :wub: This is actually stunning live and if you haven't seen it, do so before you die.

I may need rephrase that post to emphasise the joke part of wanting to be #3 on the rankings :lol:

I may have gone slightly off on a tangent about Brandy, but it's just so $h!t it's hard not to :( X was by far one of my least favourite contests of all time. It just happens to coincide with Ashton's first DNQ.... :kink:

They did have some good entries, a lot of which are in this countdown.

#70-66

070 || Pixie Lott - Boys & Girls [FSR Rontvia - XI]

Stealing Lily Allen and Ashton's record of longest time between entry and hitting #1 on the UK chart, Rontvian entry Pixie Lott is up next! I still prefer the demo to the album version which has had that god awful ronsonesque make over.

069 || Santogold - Say Aha [baNG - XII]

BaNG's first appearance on the chart here with Say Aha proving that BaNG actually can send decent songs :o More such examples are still to come!

068 || Måns Zelmerlöw - Brother Oh Brother [Land Of Jack - V]

I may have been very late to the Mans appreciation party, but this song is rather brilliant.

067 || Caroline Af Ugglas - Snälla Snälla [Eledan - XVI]

DISGUSTINGLY this DNQ'd when Pavel entered in a moment of clarity and good taste so rarely seen [but most appreciated in this current contest]. This not only should have gone on to ESC over La Voix, but should have qualified for the final of XVI. Such a stunning track.

066 || Eric Saade - Sleepless [Herzebania - XXIII]

HE WILL BE POPULAR

This is by far one of the highlights from his patchy debut. If you haven't downloaded it yet, just get the uptempos. This, Upgrade, Why Do We Need Fashion, Manboy and It's Gonna Rain [the latter two may have accidentally had sex and gave birth to Popular] are the ones you need.

The Ashton entry rank #28

28 || Sugababes - Push The Button - I

You surely didn't expect Ashton to début with anyone other than national heroes Sugababes 2.0???? Utterly stunning track, amazing, I love it so much. As an entry however it is one of my weakest :( I think knowing what I know now I'd début with my favourite song of all time [Now You're Gone - Sugababes 3.0] as it's slightly less cheap than this, but then again it was the first contest and if you're going to send a UK#1 [of which I have sent 3, although 1 achieved this after the fact] there's no better time than in the first contest.
