Oh, I wouldn't necessarily say so. Riverside's over a year old now, isn't it?

It did correspond nicely with her album re-release/her getting more press and attention in general. I hadn't heard of her until a couple of months ago to be honest, and I'm a follower of most of the main music sites/blogs.

The Ashton entry rank - #35

I'm also ranking all my entries from I to XXXIII including the two spin-offs.

35 || Sidney Samson & Wizard Sleeve - Riverside Motherfucker (Let's Go) (Dirty Extended Mix) - XXVI - DNQ

Firmly in the category of regrets and entries I wish I hadn't entered is the second in the string of 4 DNQ's and was #4 in total. While I ADORE this for going out, it was a bit of a mistake to enter a 5min dance track that was highly repetitive. Perhaps some other release schedule entry would have been better to protest with. Although in the long run I kinda won as there is no way on GOD'S EARTH Love The Way You Lie et al would get entered now ^_^

Love The Way You Lie was entered AFTER Riverside!

God, I go through phases where I just forget Satellites exists for years on end, but it's always SUCH A JOY to remember. It's not actually dated at all considering it's six years old by now!

Yay eternal Scandipop *.*

Caro  I've noticed it popping up in some personal charts recently (of BJSC'ers!), jumping on the bandwagon over a year late :smoke:

It's almost as bad as Maneater and the like but you were forgiven slightly because everybody knows you as the biggest Sugaloon, and going with anybody else for your first entry just wouldn't have felt quite right.

True. In a way it's a shame that you have to send a new leak to stand a fighting chance of doing well these days. That said, my way of picking my entries these days is to send the highest eligible song in my personal chart (i.e. non cheap/UK release/Eurovision etc...) so I'm never in a position to want to send anything old as I wouldn't be charting it in the first place.

A Bar In Amsterdam was my favourite entry that month by a mile (well Stay The Night was musically but I'd been obsessing over the track for 6 months by that point) and I'd have loved to have seen it at least reach the top five. But everyone was going far too crazy for Silly Boy to notice anything else.

Well it has only just got it's UK release and some people on here would die before they put a non-chart track in their Personal Chart.

Just like you with Delta, I did manage to avoid About You Now which was #1 at the time...

I couldn't care less how old a track is as long as I am currently obsessing over it.

Bev really does embody HEROIN CHIC on that 100% album cover, doesn't she?

She really does.

Will there be any appearance by the Kluminican Republic? :teresa:

I don't actually think I've given you any points.

Which should answer your question.

Great start, love 4 of those and Stay The Night is alright...

Didn't know you were that into Make Believe actually :o I had it in my head at work yesterday oddly enough, which is ironic seeing as it hasn't entered my consciousness for the best part of 3 years before then!

I love Make Believe  Got back into it recently when I acquired Sibel's albums.

I think/hope I might appear once here. :kink:

Quite possibly.

I'm still claiming the victory

Well, let's not forget that only Eric Saade can really claim the victory over Love The Way You Lie :kink:

Quite possibly.

Yeah, my aura is irresistible.

True, although it also had a UK release (and the same level/lack of airplay and hype) a few months ago, not that anyone cared enough at that point to chart it either. But now she's a bonafide success and not a flopstar, the tables have turned

Indeed, there was no way I wasn't entering Believe Again, I just wish I'd known that picture videos were allowed, as I'd not have sent that live version and it would probably have done a lot better. I don't think the butchering of the radio edit/video edit had surfaced at that point yet, but there's no way I'd have sent that! I'm massively surprised we didn't see the likes of Bleeding Love and Umbrella early on actually :o

I think I only own The Diving Belle but it's a very strong album, and she always seems to do well whenever she's sent to BJSC :o She's Macedonian-Swedish iirc and Macedonia need to pull their finger out, get her on board and send her to ESC next year if they want any chance of ever qualifying again.

Well, let's not forget that only Eric Saade can really claim the victory over Love The Way You Lie :kink:

I was already halfway out the door at that point, but if Love The Way You Lie had gone on to win, I really think I'd have left. I came very close to doing so after XXX, but didn't because of the mod shake up which I thought could be very interesting, and then I went onto win the next two contests  The mod veto has been invaluable though, and the main reason why leaving isn't even a thought in my mind right now.

#95 - 91

095 || Cherri V & Wiley - Skool Daze [Quotosibb - XXIV]

I so very nearly entered this but decided against it trumping for Kristiina Brask instead. This song is still all kinds of brilliant.

094 || Example - Watch The Sun Come Up (Neon Cloud Edit) [FSR Rontvia - XVIII]

NOW MISSING FROM YOUTUBE

I was one of 2 people to like this and I was accused of only voting for it because it was Rich. I love it so f*** you.

093 || Le Kid - Mercy Mercy [Numayania - XVIII]

Girls Aloud's Can't Speak French with new lyrics! This started a torrent of entries by Le Kid. I think BJSC will have sent the entire album before it's even out.

092 || Elin Lanto - Discothéque [Hendinia - XIII]

Hendinia arrived with a bang with a string of high quality and good songs, this is just one such example

091 || Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum [FSR Rontvia - XV]

This quirky, wacky and obscure track really highlights Rontvia's entry strategy at the time. Some amazing and unusual tracks and some very large risks. It also happens to be amazing.

Bunch of bandwagoners. BJSC is where it's at!

It's a shame the proper version of Believe Again wasn't sent as I probably would have scored it higher as the live version really is stunning.

I can't remember which one's i tracked down, but Driving Belle was one of them.

If only she;d stop trying for Sweden :drama:

I must say I am LOVING the power to Veto.

The Ashton entry rank - #34

34 || Lily Allen - Back To The Start - XIV

I do love this song, but I only confirmed it [in a mad rush a Singapore Airport] because I was in the process of moving to the other side of the world and couldn't be arsed with the hassle of uploading a song to youtube from myspace in Alex Roots. Had I done it before I left, there is a chance that victory in XIV would have been mine *evil laugh*

Another great section  Example was definitely my biggest (non-DNQ) flop, nobody seemed to like it at all apart from you and RabbitFurCoat iirc. Naturally this all changed upon its UK release a few months down the line, and into the personal charts it flooded.

Jungle Drum :D As I discussed with you the other day, XI-XX was definitely a great era for Rontvia, every track I sent was completely different and from a different genre and most went onto surprisingly huge success! I'm trying to get back to that in a way, and I do think that Sheelah (Scandipop), Lykke Li (indie), Brittany McDonald (bubblegum pop) and Eric Amarillo (dance) highlight that I'm trying to switch things up a bit again.

Love Mercy Mercy (should have won!), Discotheque and Skool Daze too!

If only she'd stop trying for Sweden :drama:

Definitely, Macedonia NEED her and she needs them frankly, I think she could do quite nicely out of it and they certainly could!

I must say I am LOVING the power to Veto.

I'd LOVE to see a list of what you've vetoed - I think it should be made public after confirmation closes so we can all point and laugh :D

Don't Stop Looking woudn't have won, would it? I was shocked when it finished fifth, I genuinely thought it was your most annoying entry ever at the time  Then again, everything just about lined up to get the best result from XIV that I dread to think what would've happened with any variations. I still shudder to think how a 12 to Untouched from me (it was my favourite song of 2009 at that point, but I boycotted for obvious reasons) would've given The Veronicas the win...
Love Mercy Mercy (should have won!)

Dolla/TiK ToK was definitely the right winner at the time I think. I mean, we had no idea she was going to be huge  Let's just be thankful Loba didn't make it - a stunning misfire from Eledan in retrospect!

Your favourite song of 2009? It was also one of my favourite songs...of 2007.

It was a great winner, and indeed nobody knew how big it would be, BUT Mercy Mercy was my 12 pointer and I still like it more than Tik Tok so I have to remain faithful to that! Loba was pointless but I guess Pavel was after some success that month

Well, provisionally in terms of personal chart performance :P I don't remember how long I'd known it for though...if we're on about my favourite song of the year by the time that contest rolled around it would've been either Love etc., In For The Kill or Poker Face.

#90-86

090 || La Roux - Quicksand [Kopecka - XII]

I prefer the version entered to the version that made the actual album. This was a brilliantly inspired entry and well deserved first win for our alliance partners Kopecka.

089 || Agnes Carlson - On and On [Angelicland - XI]

Agnes  Some sublime Scandipop here, the entered later Release Me remains her career and BJSC highlight though.

088 || Vincent - Miss Blue [FSR Rontvia - XII]

I'm gutted I never got to vote for the second of the two FSR Rontvian DNQ's as I was in the other heat. This track has such an incredible beat to it.

087 || La Roux - Bulletproof [Torchwood - XVI]

My favourite from the La Roux debut album [When is the next one due Tyron?] Such a good song to dance too

086 || Blänk feat. Young Ivy - I'm Going For Your Brother [FSR Rontvia - XVI]

Another FSR Rontvia entry now, you were warned this was full of them, and this time is the sensational I'm Going For Your Brother.

It was I Don't Know/TBO all over again!

It really was such a good era. Both of us are switching it up month to month and coming out with some genuinely amazing entries in the process [Lykke Li aside]

Might put up a lost of everything we've ever vetoed soon.

It would have been in with a shot in the cheapest contest of all time. XIV was utterly dire

XIV onwards was a pretty $h!tty period for the contest as a whole tbh

The version of Quicksand entered (i.e. the video version) is the exact same as the album version! It still remains one of my favourite videos of the decade...

There's no timetable for the next album, but I'm beginning to think there may be a creative crisis afoot for reasons that will become clear when it actually comes out for reasons to do with my entry this month! You'll probably enjoy it - the songwriting half of La Roux, Ben Langmaid (he doesn't appear in any of the videos or anything) set up a female duo, War of Words, and gave them Panic, my entry this month. It was on Myspace for a couple of months, but just a couple of weeks ago War of Words' Myspace and Facebook pages were deleted and pretty much any traces of their existence disappeared, so I have a feeling they've realised they don't have as much stuff for the next album as they originally thought, and therefore probably don't want to give something as killer as Panic away to a duo that are unlikely to get any mainstream success  So basically it was now or never for entering it before it gets found - if my theory's true, the follow-up's probably due within the next twelve months.
