With the return of Mutya Buena, former Queen of the Federal Republic, in III I tried to use a more unknown demo. This fit the bill nicely, but didn't do so well. I really love this song, and just about everything else she has put vocals too......

This is a really stunning ballad from the kooky Kate Miller-Heidke who I regret very much not going to see in Brisbane.

I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that this is actually my life. Well, this and #60 combined is me in song form. This song is just :wub:

Utterly criminal DNQ. Dragonette are one of my favourite bands, I even dedicated my username to this particular song at one point, and this is a fantastic track by a brilliant band.

Dragonette are an underperforming band in BJSC, criminally so. After the amazing I Get Around failed to make the top10 for Rivandia in the second contest, True Believer scraped inside in the fourth contest. This remains the bands only top10 placing to date despite many attempts to replicate the success of True Believer, which ended in DNQ :cry: Stunning electroballadry here that Nicole Flopsinger wishes she was as good as.

25 || Sugababes - Hole In The Head (Live) - V

 

 

Hunting for a way to enter a great Sugababes track that would provide me with a hit but not be cheap I decided to go down the live route. They are after all FLAWLESS live. So I settled on entering the Live version of Hole In The Head with the added verse only performed live and even then very rarely ^_^ This is the highest Sugababes track leaving the rest of the top25 to the more inspired entries.

Sublime bit of dance music from a country that surrenders instantly and the only thing they've ever given the world decent is Renault and numerous automotive firsts. Like the two track before this has yet to leave my 'Recently Played' playlist on iTunes.

 

 

051 || Dan Bălan - Chica Bomb [Hendinia - XXVI]

 

 

This was the theme tune to summer 2010 for me :wub: Utterly sublime song and I'm not exactly complaining about the video that has more in common with a Blue movie than your typical music video. :kink: Especially for TomKay: Did you know that Dan was part of the group that gave your country it's name? I just found out on Wikipedia :lol:

 

 

I have decided that Spinnin' Records shall join Roxy on the list of utterly mindblowinglyamazing record labels that need to start releasing here ASAP.

I hadn't heard her album, but I've just found it here and the clips sound alright, Hold On and Brand New Car in particular are very good. It's like a more country-fied version of Tone Damli, so you might love it!

24 || Haffi Haff - Give Me Sexy - XV

 

 

Infamous for being Ashton's first male entry and for crashing to 23rd in the final from 3rd in the semi. POOR BRAVE HAFFI. This was entered right at the start of Ashton's underperforming streak and saw XVI entrant Alex Roots delayed by a further month. I still think this is an epic track.

Just losing out to the 12 in XX to FSR Rontvia this BaNG track is the best of the 3.2m Wynter Gordon entries to BJSC.

This track is just so anthemic. I love to sing along to this very very very loudly [and rather badly I must admit] on my way to work.

 

 

048 || Aura Dione - I Will Love You Monday (365) [Zechonia - XXIV]

 

 

If Zechonia [Alongside Isconia as BJSC's most Indie country] can get points from Ashton [Part of the ScandiBloc and damned proud of it] there is hope for everyone to get Ashtonise points. It does help that this song is FUCKING EPIC mind you.

Brilliant track, just entered too late :( This track really suffered from the problem of delaying entry of songs that plagued Ashton between X and XIX. I STILL have entries delayed from that period and one or two from as far back as X :ph34r:

I'm with Phil on this, no matter how unfashionable an opinion it is. It adds some sparkle and colour to possibly the most overplayed song of all time.

 

I can't now listen to the original without thinking of drunken chavs belting it out at some tacky night club, it doesn't help that every single club seems to play it every single night.

Despite Tyron's insistence that Into The Clouds is better [it's not] M.A.G.I.C is the only Sound of Arrow entry on this countdown, and it's the superior one. Criminally I only gave this 3 points. Clearly I was on glue.

 

 

044 || Lily Allen - Guess Who Batman (Since retitled Fuck You) [Nonsuch - VIII]

 

 

The demo for Fuck You went one further than I Don't Know [Demo of The Fear] two contests later. This song often comes in handy out and about in real life from singing screaming it at retarded Fifers who should never have been given a drivers license to lipsyncing it while giving the middle finger to the utter cuntbag sitting in front of you on a 13hour flight at the back of a 747. This song is epic and useful.

 

 

043 || Camille - Money Note [Kopecka - X]

 

 

The saviour of BJSC X this quirky, strange, endearing and catchy track was a highly inspired entry from Kopecka netting 12's from Ashton, FSR Rontvia and Eledan as it flew into the top10 on their support following the first DNQ for Ashton and Rontvia.

 

042 || Sanna Nielsen - Nobody Without You [FSR Rontvia - IX]

 

 

On the subject of FSR Rontvia, in at #42 is the Schlager epic Nobody Without You. The way this track builds is incredible.

Turning this segment into a thoroughly old guard affair this sublime Janelle Monáe entry by Kopecka many moons [pun half intended] before she hit the big time just misses out on the top40
