May 24, 201114 yr Author I'm with Phil on this, no matter how unfashionable an opinion it is. It adds some sparkle and colour to possibly the most overplayed song of all time. I can't now listen to the original without thinking of drunken chavs belting it out at some tacky night club, it doesn't help that every single club seems to play it every single night. This! The Scandification of the track just adds something to the track keeping it fresh and making it listenable again
May 24, 201114 yr Compared to Ashton you are  I guess almost everyone is. :kink: I can see how you get that impression since I generally do like indie music a bit more than pop/RnB but it's far from my favourite genre. Most indie songs are pretty good instrumentally but I can't stand the singing in 80% of them. And there are some exceptions where I give high points to pop songs, like Music Everywhere. If I actually sent the music I really loved I would probably come last every time. I had  already confirmed for the last contest but decided that I want a bit more than 0 points. ;)
May 24, 201114 yr Loving the continuation of this countdown! I don't have time to comment on everything but I'm liking about 95% of it - there are a few songs here I don't care for much though, such as Chica Bomb and I Think I Like It. Nice to see Pixie, Sanna and The Sound of Arrows feature, I wasn't sure whether the latter would as indeed you gave it 3 points and some of your 12 pointers have already been and gone!
May 24, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank #22 22 || Kristiina Brask - Kuivilla Susta - XXIV yaN7h07EXIM Number 3 of 4 DNQ's in a row. This majorly suffered from the 'wrong semi' effect which lead to Ashtonise enthusiasm for the scrapping of Semi finals. I am very glad I entered this though, it's a really nice midtempo.

Wow you really need to go to more gay clubs :P You're from BRIGHTON as well, you've got no excuse not to!

Yeah I like my chavdance a bit more than you do :heehee: I do regret only giving that 3points, it should have gotten far more.
May 24, 201114 yr This! The Scandification of the track just adds something to the track keeping it fresh and making it listenable again I've never been one to care what people think as you know and I'd quite readily admit to everyone in said club that a version of the song exists that I find more enjoyable! I'd be quite happy if I never heard the original again to be honest, that and Sex On Fire, I Gotta Feeling, Place Your Hands and the rest of them :drama: I guess almost everyone is. :kink: I can see how you get that impression since I generally do like indie music a bit more than pop/RnB but it's far from my favourite genre. That said, I still recall mild shock at the high points sent the way of Music Everywhere and The Last Time, as you don't generally seem to go for the pure pop usually. The true indie kids would never entertain such a thought of voting for Anna Abreu, god forbid! There are reputations on the line with each contest! I also tend to vote for a mixed bag of songs usually, even if people still pigeonhole me as a pop country. I've given my 12/10 to indie entries on quite a few occasions.
May 24, 201114 yr Points from Zechonia to a pop song is like a seal of approval  Wow, I will have to think twice about which song to give points to after reading this. I think your entries have been a mixed bunch for the most part, I certainly wouldn't pigeonhole you as 'indie' looking at the songs that you tend to vote for each month. May 24, 201114 yr Wow you really need to go to more gay clubs :P You're from BRIGHTON as well, you've got no excuse not to! I've been into gay clubs with some gay friends I have back at home, and admittedly the music is far more to my taste on the whole, but the clubs are all a bit flamboyant and OTT in Brighton from what I've seen and really not my scene. I always think it comes across as painfully obvious that I'm the token straight there with his gay friends. Yeah I like my chavdance a bit more than you do :heehee: I do regret only giving that 3points, it should have gotten far more. Not entirely true, I own all 17 volumes of the Clubland compilation series, complete with 'hot girls and rides' on the cover sleeve  I used to be a HUGE dance fan, but now it's a more subdued love and taken a backseat to pop. The odd dance anthem or two still gets me though - Alors On Danse (I know you hate it!), Stereo Love, We No Speak Americano, Om Sanningen Ska Fram (:kink:) and everything Cascada touch!
May 24, 201114 yr Author I want to get up to #21 done tonight so on with the top40 we go! #40-36 040 || The Love Willows - A Day In My Life [Triodopolis - VIII] hZqdHwFEllc I noticed Triodopolis were considering a return. PLEASE DO. 039 || Margaret Berger - Will You Remember Me Tomorrow [Kingdom Of Shadow - IX] issxl_LCULs If you could sum up BJSC in a single song, it would be this one. A truly contest defining entry, I just prefer 38 tracks to it *prepares to be lynched* 038 || Kate Ryan - Ella Elle L'a [Xanaga - VIII] cuJzoe1IoKI This song gives me many many many fond memories of second year [uni obv] at the amazing times I had with my flatmates here in the UK. This was the original Silas' flat anthem. 037 || Beverley Knight - Black Butta (Live) [Quotosibb - VI] HOHvlWGPIdk Depriving Ashton of victory way back in BJSC VI this utterly sensational live début from Quotosibb was a very worthy winner. I have to see this woman live because this is one hell of a performance. Oh and Aaron, more Black Butta less Love The Way You Lie plsthnx 036 || Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats [botanikka - IV] WaSy8yy-mr8  This is the kind of country that I just adore.

The odd dance anthem or two still gets me though - Alors On Danse (I know you hate it!), Stereo Love, We No Speak Americano, Om Sanningen Ska Fram (:kink:) and everything Cascada touch! May 24, 201114 yr #60-56 056 || Fake Blood - I Think I Like It [Greenfroze - XXVII] 3xKUiva2WSQ Another Greenfroze dance track and another track I'm probably alone in adoring. Nope, you're not  I think I gave it my 12 in XXVII :o Don't care for the video mind. #55-51 053 || Le Kid - Mr Brightside [Torchwood - XXXI] GYo823-O5QE I prefer this Scandipop overhaul of the Killers track to the original Killers version, by a country mile. Just don't tell Jonjo  052 || Antoine Clamaran & Soraya Arnelas - Stick Shift [Numayania - XXXI] mHDcHNt-1qI Sublime bit of dance music from a country that surrenders instantly and the only thing they've ever given the world decent is Renault and numerous automotive firsts. Like the two track before this has yet to leave my 'Recently Played' playlist on iTunes. 051 || Dan Bălan - Chica Bomb [Hendinia - XXVI] 16N8Zhhhins This was the theme tune to summer 2010 for me  Utterly sublime song and I'm not exactly complaining about the video that has more in common with a Blue movie than your typical music video. :kink: Especially for TomKay: Did you know that Dan was part of the group that gave your country it's name? I just found out on Wikipedia  I still prefer the Killers tbh, but this is rather good  As for 52, yay :cheer: But I thought you meant Numayania for a minute, not France :heehee: And yes of course I knew that, why do you think my capital city is called Balan? Though I must admit I prefer Arsenium's solo material  The Ashton entry rank #24 24 || Haffi Haff - Give Me Sexy - XV IwKI8DsLdnc Infamous for being Ashton's first male entry and for crashing to 23rd in the final from 3rd in the semi. POOR BRAVE HAFFI. This was entered right at the start of Ashton's underperforming streak and saw XVI entrant Alex Roots delayed by a further month. I still think this is an epic track. Another of my favourite's of yours, started my obsession with him  Onto the top50 we go! #50-46 047 || Serebro - Never Be Good [Numayania - XVI] D_qpE6YxM2Q While Tom would throw this in the pile of entries he forgot about, I throw it in the pile of AMAZING Numayanian entries. It's not the worst thing I've ever sent (HELLO Mimmi Sanden) but yeah I'm not especially proud of it, but I'm glad some people like it  #45-41 043 || Camille - Money Note [Kopecka - X] 6lsVVaQahr8 The saviour of BJSC X this quirky, strange, endearing and catchy track was a highly inspired entry from Kopecka netting 12's from Ashton, FSR Rontvia and Eledan as it flew into the top10 on their support following the first DNQ for Ashton and Rontvia. Oh hang on, that was from X? I take it back, AMAZING contest :kink: You do realise she's French? :P
May 24, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rate #21 and 20 21 || Untouched - Feed Me Too The Boys - XXII Disgustingly DNQ'd sparking the run of 4 that was really the cherry on the top of Ashton's middle era. Since removed from iTunes  20 || Delta Goodrem - Electric Storm - XVIII GTY3VW_jxpw Such a brilliant track struck down by the Delta Curse :( Rich is about to kill me for this coming so very low, but I've had more inspired moments

DUH. I'm glad someone like Haffi  I quite liked the Mimmi Sandén track, but I much prefer her older sister. I know she's french, it just happens to be the only good thing from the top10 of BJSCX

France  Seriously tell me you don't love Paris after you've been there in July. One of my Twitter/Facebook mates Niall is OBSESSED with him, I just like him a lot, even if he is essentially Lord GayGay :heehee: Agreed, Molly >>>>> Mimmi, it was a last minute change, I think I basically did it because I could  Fair enough, it looks that way tbh :(

Lowww for Margaret :o She's probably in my top 10-20 BJSC entries and it IS contest defining, but it's not my favourite either. Really like The Love Willows' song too but I hate when it comes on shuffle on my iPod as the alarm clock at the start is insanely irritating :drama: And I still hold a flame for out and out ChavDance in the form of Manian [although this new entry is dire], Basshunter and Dan Balan :kink: On Sanningen Ska Fram is incredible. Oh, I was always a big fan of Basshunter too   I was really pleased that you loved it when I showed it to you, I was almost definitely going to send it anyway but the Ashton seal of approval is always a good thing (even if Lykke didn't get it and I went ahead with it anyway as I had no other options :drama:) 20 || Delta Goodrem - Electric Storm - XVIII GTY3VW_jxpw Such a brilliant track struck down by the Delta Curse :( Rich is about to kill me for this coming so very low, but I've had more inspired moments Electric Storm still maintains a place in my top 100 favourite songs of all time. People have been exposed to the very best of Delta through BJSC and still nobody's at all interested so it's probably best leave her be now
May 24, 201114 yr Author #35-31 035 || Delta Goodrem - Together We Are One [Greenland - II] XNsrzw8T4U4 Now Rich really is going to kill me :heehee: If you don't like this ballad, then to the left with you because clearly you are deaf. 034 || Dragonette - I Get Around [Rivandia - II] wQwJOVOtZpY This song started my love affair with electropop, I've even seen them perform this live  033 || Natalie Bassingthwaighte - This Can't Be Love [JRK-Off - XIV] wQwJOVOtZpY The first of Nat Bass' four BJSC entries [including one by Ashton] slides in at 33 with this superb album track. She needs to get her ass away from her new sprog and back into a recording studio NOW. 032 || Emma Deigman - It Was You [People's Republic Of Jester - XVII] 9hnQV6VCEb4 Infamously beating out FSR Rontvia and Kopecka for the 12 in BJSC XVII this is a fantastic little track 031 || Kaci Battaglia - Crazy Possessive [Kopecka XVII] Tre0WtMB-dE Despite being beaten to the 12 by the song above this continued to grow after the contest. That may or may not have been helped by the STUNNING video...

I don't remember much but I do remember walking up to the middle level of the Eiffel Tower. People have been exposed to the very best of Delta through BJSC and still nobody's at all interested so it's probably best leave her be now :lol:Oh yes, Tyron is going to KILL me for that one. I can see how that would irritate. Basshunter has had some pretty epic dance tracks, he was accused of sexual assault in Kirkcaldy of all places. You don't touch girls there, their skin is literally crawling with STI's and various other skanky diseases. It's a properly brilliant track, much better than that Strawberry shake one. They really have, especially with Believe Again
May 24, 201114 yr Author The Ashton entry rank - #19 and 18 19 || Anniela - My Confession - XXXII All my entries keep disappearing from Youtube :manson: Not amused. I do love this track, and it deserved that top10 placing :arrr: 18 || Molly Sandén - Kärlek - Foreign Language spin off mRpQvd40jXM First time I went out of my way to discover a track not in english and I land firmly at the door of The Sandén. Now a national hero, Molly was a gateway drug for Ashton and it lead down the slippery slope from only participating in the spin off to keep Ashton's 100% record to sending a part English, part Italian track and barrelling onto being the contests first [and only] foreign language winner.
