^ True about that in a way. I listen to Mama Do, I think "Am I sure this is actually 2009"? What makes it more weird was that it got to #1 like between Boom Boom Pow and Bonkers or something. It's so out of place.

It would have been much more suited to 2008 when the soul pop boom was happening, it really stands out as an odd #1 in 2009, as does Boys & Girls, as much as I love it  2009's #1's in general though were much more eclectic a list than this year's I suppose. Still, the song was around in 2008 as I remember that it was on her MySpace at the same time as Boys & Girls was, it just took her record company an incredibly long time to push her. I've always found her success quite surprising in that firstly, the big hype and Sound Of polls completely ignored her existence and secondly her MySpace was very very basic when I first stumbled across it and looked just like another low-key independent pop artist - she'd only had a couple of thousand profile hits as well. To say I was shocked when she was suddenly being touted as the next big pop star and scoring #1 hits would be an understatement.

Why is California King Bed climbing so fast? I love Rihanna, but I really don't think it's a particularly good song. I'm happy for her success though, I suppose.

I think music videos for Man Down and Fly are being released soon, so she should have lots of songs in the top 40 again, and things will be back to normal. :)

Yeah, I can't believe such a brilliant song missed the top 10. If that couldn't get another top 10 hit for Pixie, I don't know what can. :(

Oh yes :(, although I was much more annoyed with Broken Arrow.

And if you want a travesty, Ellie Goulding was denied number 1 by a misleading charity single for 2 weeks, then by The Time and Whip My Hair the next :puke:. Ellie would have been Christmas number 1 without the X Factor, too.

Also, Busy is almost top 40.

Judas #10 (combined)

Born This Way #17 (combined)

Edge of Glory #20 (combined)

Judas  #11 (combined)

Born This Way  #16 (combined)

Edge of Glory  #19 (combined)

Interesting to see Born This Way climbing again...

I think I discussed this with you before actually! :o At least I remember someone on here linked me up to a really old version of Boys and Girls, which had different production on it and everything.

Wouldn't have What's My Name? been Christmas #1. I was thinking actually, What's My Name? and Bad Romance would've both been 4-weekers if there wasn't the X Factor winners single. Although both got performed on X Factor in the first place, so...

Glad I'm Into You and CKB are finally climbing, both are very deserving of good chart positions!

Yeah, that was the original demo version that I uploaded to Youtube in 2008, the single version was spruced up a lot and sounded a lot more Mark Ronson-esque.

Turn It Up was also around in 2008, in much the same version that was released as a single TWO years later! Proof (check my upload date on youtube);

It was called The Fall at the time, was retitled for the album.

I think both songs were better in their final forms. And Turn It Up is a better title too imo. The Fall gives the image of quite a depressing song, whilst Turn It Up makes it sound positive and uplifting, which is very much is.

I always thought Boys and Girls sounded quite like Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna too. I think there's some mash-ups of them. Boys and Girls was a fantastic number-one. I found it so catchy at the time. And it had that crazy climb to #1, I think it went 73-1 or something!

I hated Cry Me Out though. :(

I really can't wait for next Sunday. The single mix of 'Dirty Dancer' is getting released. :w00t: I'm shocked that radio isn't jumping on this.

And again... :P

I like both versions of Boys & Girls about the same amount, but for different reasons, although I disagree with you about Turn It Up, The Fall is a much more individual title imo. Turn It Up sounds like a generic club banger song title, even though the song wasn't at all!

Yeah, I don't know why it was released a day early, probably to give it some upward swing on iTunes ready for Sunday so that it didn't play catchup all week. She beat the #2 by a slim margin anyway in the end so maybe that strategy worked!

And again... :P

Is that the new Enrique song? I think i heard it on Capital yesterday.

Saturdays  #13 i think they'll chart at 10 this week

And RTW(Girls) seems to have stalled just as i'm getting into it lol

I might've liked Cry Me Out if it had more drums in it and rapping in the verses.

Not sure how well Dirty Dancer will do. It'll be funny if it goes top 10 though. Lil Wayne on 2 songs in the top 10. Never thought I'd see the day! *waits for someone to say it's already happened before*

Yeah, Dirty Dancer is an Enrique and Usher collab I think. It was originally on Enrique's album, then Usher put it on his album's re-release too. Then a few weeks ago in the US they released a single mix with a different instrumental and Lil Wayne on it. The song has actually been around for like a year already, but I only started listening to it a few weeks ago.

It is indeed. :D

Oh that's a good sign then. I'd expect Capital to play it since his last three singles have been top 10 hits. I really want 'Dirty Dancer' to go top 10 but the fact there's no video (a key factor in Enrique's success) and the album version is not making an impact shows bad signs. :(

'Dirty Dancer' is up there with his best singles ('Addicted', 'Hero', 'Tonight (I'm F**kin' You)', 'I Like It').

The thing about Turn It Up is when I'm trying to think of it in my head, I always here a song that I thought was a BJSC entry but I can't find it now, that goes "turn it up real loud, turn it upside down, till you hear the sound of my love". Or something. Anyone?

Boys And Girls is OK, actually I think I prefer the demo version. Hopefully we can all agree that Mama Do is awful though and never should have been #1?

Out of all the Pixie songs I've heard:

Boys and Girls>>Turn It Up>>Gravity>>>>>When Love Takes Over>>Coming Home>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Broken Arrow>>Mama Do>>>Cry Me Out>>>>Use Somebody

Edited by Eric_Blob

I'd say 'Broken Arrow'>>'Turn It Up'>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>all the others.

I'd never choose to listen to any of her songs out of choice but those first two were bearbale!

I do actually have Broken Arrow on my mp3 player. :kink: But it's the Ultrebeat remix, and I got it from a compilation album, so I can be let off here.

Oh my, Rihanna has climbed so much! <3

Love de song :D
