Thing is with Mata, whilst he's a good player I don't think he'd want to go to Liverpool. We can't offer European football. We need an out and out winger in the squad as it balances it out. Even with Mata Liverpool would have little width, with Downing we'd be able to utilise Carroll as well. Whilst they're not glamarous names - Downing and Carroll would be bloody effective together.

I still think it would be worth putting in a bid for Mata. A few journalists based in Spain seem to think we are still interested and believe he will end up at a PL club

I do agree with you though. Carroll and Downing would be a great partnership and at the moment it's not really about making big glamorous signings. It's more about attempting to stabilize the club again and trying to get back into the Top 4

I'd be happy with this as a starting 11 for next season:

Reina Johnson Carragher Agger Enrique Lucas Gerrard Adam Suarez Carroll Downing

Mata will end up Arsenal. Especially if Nasri goes. Wenger needs some big signings as Arsenal fans rapidly seem to be losing patience with him (and rightly so).

We need a balanced squad. I'm not sure whether we'll play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 next season. Hope we get rid of some of the deadwood before we start making too many more signings though. Going to be hard though as they're all on mega dollars.

Sunderland have made some good signings. Very sceptical about the 3 duff Man Utd players they've signed though. Probably good value, but I don't think it was the wisest move buying Brown. Pretty sure Man Utd will miss O'Shea, although he's not getting any younger which is why I guess Fergie's got rid.

Yep I can see him ending up at Arsenal, but it was nice to see John W Henry tweeting about him last night. Maybe he knows something we don't ? :D

The Deadwood needs to leave asap ! Konchesky, Poulsen, Jovanovic, NGog, Cole etc..

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the likes of Meireles and Aquilani too. Way too many CM's at the moment, so I can see a few of them leaving

Gervinho confirmed at Arsenal.

Stoke have signed Jonathan Woodgate on a Pay-as-you-Play deal.

I'm worried about Forest at the moment, we currently have a squad of just 19 senior players, however that includes three goalkeepers and Blackstock and I've no idea when he'll be back. Everyone we're linked to is signing for someone else. It's gotten so bad that the manager is missing our pre-season training camp and Moussi is likely to move to Derby

Can't see Gervinho doing well at Arsenal tbh. I have a feeling this season will see the end of Wenger at some point.

Few biggies have happened of late:

Downing to Liverpool

Given to Aston Villa

Tevez to Corinthias (sp?) - although this isn't official yet, but expect it will be.

Once the Tevez transfer goes through I'd expect a lot of big name moves from Man City, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

As the days go on I'm becoming more and more convinced we're not going to sign anyone to replace Scholes. Quite worrying really.

Dunno, could happen yet. Modric won't be at Spurs come the start of the season although I fully expect him to be at Chelsea and not Man Utd. Only problem is Arsenal will be in for another central midfielder if that happens.

Man City have also signed a deal to become the OFFICIAL team of Fifa 2012. Bit dodgy really as EA are paying Man City...

Official team of Fifa 2012? Surely City are paying for that considering that EA would get more from it if they used a team that is actually popular..

Nah is all Man City funded. Like you say if it was Liverpool, Man Utd, Barcelona or Real Madrid it would make bucket loads. Load of dodgy dealings Man City are doing at the moment so that they can meet the Financial Fair Play rules.

Redknapp doing his daily drive through stops for Sky Sports News was bad enough & now we have Mancini revealing all of their transfer plans "Tevez is off to Corinthians" "We're going to bid for Aguero" etc

& Are United not trying to sign Sneijder anymore ?

No surprise really. The deal was incredibly was dodgy to begin with. I've no idea how they could afford £40m, and plus Tevez's wages will be so high that there's no way they could afford to pay them. Man City without Tevez is going to be dodgy despite what all their fans think. I'd rather have Tevez than Aguero in my team any day of the week.

So Sky announce Forest have signed George Boateng, George Boateng appears on Talksport talking about his move to Forest but the club post this:

Nottingham Forest today re-emphasised their policy on the output of news on the club's website www.nottinghamforest.co.uk

It comes at a time when certain elements of the media have been reporting on club matters - with some of the stories becoming fact in the fullness of time and some proving to be untrue.

The club website has always adopted a stance - and will continue to do so - that it will continue to reveal news on transfers and other club matters when they are actually signed and sealed and not before.

A spokesman said: "We totally understand that supporters want news at the earliest available opportunity but until the club is in a position to confirm events they will not subscribe to speculation.

"We will not deal with conjecture, which at the end of the day can often prove to be false.

"We will endeavour, as always, to bring you news the instant it happens as well as the supporting interviews that accompany the breaking news."

Arsenal have bid for Jakielka, although it's been rejected. Would be a very good signing for them if it comes off - will be very expensive though...

Chelsea have bid for Lukaku. The guy's an absolute beast.

I hope nobody wants Tevez and he's forced to return to City, whereby all the fans and club turn on him. Would make me lol.

Doubt it tbh. Us football fans all have very fickle minds. Arsenal fans seem to forgive Fabregas every year (will do the same with Nasri no doubt), Spurs fans will forgive Modric and Liverpool and Man Utd fans have forgiven Gerrard and Rooney respecitvely when they've announced publicly that they want to leave.

Don't see the logic behind Arsenal bidding £10m for Jagielka when they bid around the same amount last year.. and had that rejected too

Everton will probably want around £15 - £20m and I can't see Wenger paying that amount

I hope not

Wouldn't want a Tevez and Aguero partnership to form
