Looks like Charlie Adam will be the next Liverpool signing with Jonjo Shelvey off to Blackpool on loan.. with probably Stewart Downing following after

& Sunderland seem to have had an bid worth £13m accepted for Connor Wickham. He apparently is still holding out for a Liverpool move, but I'm not even sure the club want him that much

I can see him going to Sunderland for a season or two.. Doing well and then moving to one of the bigger clubs for £20m+

If Wickham goes to Sunderland he will eb there for two seasons before Man Utd buy him - FACT. I think he's a good player, but £13m is far too steep. I wouldn't expect any team to pay that much for him, probs £8m and then £5m in add-ons.

LOL I can actually see him being sold to United in 2 years

The Guardian are reporting: "Offer is understood to involve £5m paid up-front with the remainder becoming payable on a fulfilment of assorted clauses"

I think that's a pretty decent deal

Still hoping Kenny/Comolli will put in a bid for him.. even if it is to annoy Steve Bruce

Wickham Medical at Sunderland today. Slightly gutted as I think he'll be a future star and knowing Liverpool.. they'll try and buy him for around £30m+ in 2 years time

Sunderland close to completing the signing of Craig Gardner from Birmingham, they're making decent use of the Bent/Henderson money IMO.

David De Gea confirmed at Man Utd.

Sammy Lee has left Liverpool.

How dare you be so positive about our transfers, those sorts of appreciative comments are not welcome in this thread.

Anyway, Wickham deal confirmed and it's a four-year deal. The fee is £8m, which could rise to £12m. Craig Gardner's due here later this afternoon for talks, i'd be surprised if it didn't happen tbh.

Sad to see Wickham go, definitely got the potential to be a great player in the future (better than Darren Bent). Oh well, at least like Bent he did once play for Ipswich Town. :P

Wickham will be a good player, just not sure how good. I've been impressed whenever I've seen him mind.
Wickham could be a very good piece of business for Sunderland. If he fulfils his promise they will be able to sell him and make a healthy profit in 2-3 years' time.

Gardner and Ji Dong-Won confirmed. Apparently Ji won't be ready for first team duties for a few months, so we could well be still in the market for another striker. Desperately, desperately need a left back of some description.

Also, I heard Dalglish reckons we've paid over the top for Wickham? Hahahaha, the irony is stunning, we pay £8m (No more, no less) for Wickham, he pays over £50m for Carroll and Henderson. But i'm sure he's not just sore about the rumours Wickham turned down the mighty, massive Liverpool (© 1990) to come here.

Liverpool weren't prepared to pay what Sunderland were. I don't know why we didn't, I'd guess that Liverpool didn't want to overpay because they've some very good strikers coming through who are only a year/two behind Wickham in development.

PSG have made a £13.5m bid for QPR's Adel Taarabt, shocked!

But you can't pay £35m for Carroll and £18m or whatever for Henderson then claim someone else is paying too much money for their players, it's hypocritical and it smacks of sour grapes.

£13.5m for Taarabt? Now that really would be overpaying.

Yeah I know what you mean. The owners have a weird mentality with buying players. Like if we had of sold Torres for £40m, we'd have bid £25m for Carroll as they valued Andy Carroll as £15m less than Torres. Odd.

Taarabt is a good player, but highy highly unproven. £13.5m is vv. steep.

this makes sense arsenal r probaly goin to sell fabregas, nasri nd clichy nd in return we buy gervinho + that southhampton player

I'd be surprised if both Nasri and Fabregas left. My understanding is the only reason why Nasri wants to leave is because he wants to play in centre-mid full time, and not on the wing. If Fabregas goes, then that will happen. Either way imo Arsenal are really going to struggle this season if Fabreags/Nasri and Clichy go. There are a lot of areas they've got to strengthen.

He's weak defensively, but he's great at attacking. If a good coach can work on his positioning, then I think he'd be a very good full-back. He's stagnating at Arsenal though.
Clichy is absolutely terrible these days, awful defensively and offers very little going forward either, can't shoot, cross (not that Arsenal will have anyone in the box for a cross anyway). Can't even pass most of the time. Like RFC said, he's been getting worse every season for years now.

Gordon linked with Arsenal, wouldn't surprise me if it happened. He hasn't really been the same since he broke his arm.

We've signed Roarie Deacon from Arsenal's reserves, a risk-free deal. O'Shea looks like completing his move here in the near future.
