Who's been following the world's greatest sport thus far this year then?

Roland Garros just ended yesterday with a pretty fantastic match between Nadal and Federer which Nadal won in four sets and from today the BBC are showing coverage of Queen's. Also this week is the AEGON classic at Edgbaston in Birmingham. I'm going to be there watching the fourth round on Thursday which will be my first time watching pro tennis - pretty exciting. :D

COME ON tennis fans, let's rescue this forum from all of the horrible wrestling and football-fuelled testosterone!

I managed to miss the lion's share of the French Open and was shocked to see that Na Li won the women's :o Not to mention the surprise that Schiavone made it to the final again, I thought last year was a fluke!

Looking forward to Wimbledon!

Nadal really is something else on clay. He battered Murray on Friday, and yesterday was such a tremendous game. I really thought when Federer won that third set from nearly being out he was going to produce a comeback. Shame it wasn't to be, but the Federer-Nadal rivarly is the most gracious in sport. It's thrilling to match.

I think Djokovic will win Wimbledon.

Id hardly say that.

The highlight of Rolland Garros for me was definitely the Djokovic/Federer semi, both men played incredible, some of the best tennis i have seen.

Just yesterday I was thinking it was a disgrace there was no tennis thread! I only managed to watch the two finals for the french open (and both my faves won :D) but I've seen highlights from Djokovic vs Nadal and am really gutted to have missed it.

Going to be missing the first half of Wimbledon as well as I'm on holiday

Id hardly say that.

He did though. Murray never looked like winning the match. Murray screwed up on too many important points. Nadal had his game plan correct though, like with Federer the heat conditions played to his advantage, so he kept playing long rallies. Have a feeling he'll hopefully win his first Grand Slam at the US Open mind, as he's having a great Grand Slam season so far.

When is Wimbledon on this year? I love watching it, even if I don't know who the players are, and it always makes me want to play tennis!

Queens have two Brits in the semi-finals

Andy Murray and James Ward

Ward has beaten Warwinka, Querrey and Mannarino to reach the semi-finals. He will beat Tsonga in the semi-finals tomorrow as Tsonga beat Nadal.

Murray will play Roddick in the other semi-final.

It is the first time that Britain has two semi-finalists at Queens since the Open era began in 1968

He had a small chance but it was never a certainty, it's a shame he lost though as he fought hard.

Also can you write in full sentences as it's quite annoying to read.

Murray was in pretty commanding form against Roddick today (although let's face it, Roddick's past it - still the hottest player around, though), hopefully his injury holds off for a good Wimbledon. Not that I expect him to win (I want him to surprise me, it's the only way he'll ever win).

The women's game is in a terrible state, though. I fully expect the Williams' sisters to fail at Eastbourne, have everyone write them off for lack of practice and lingering injuries - and then still have one of them win Wimbledon. Who's there to challenge them?

Hoping to go to a few evening sessions on the cheap as I work in Wimbledon, so I can just walk up there. I've only been once!

Didn't realise so many of the big players were competing at Eastbourne this year :o Annoyed that I'm not down that way until the following week or I almost certainly would have tried to go!

I'd hardly say Roddick is past it, he's probably been in the form of his life the past few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Williams/Williams final at Eastbourne (an amazing field for the women this year, shame about the men) but i'm hoping that neither of them will win Wimbledon as it would be such an embarrassment and the womens game really doesn't need that atm. I'm hoping for a Wozniacki/Sharapova/Clijsters win (if Clijsters is fit). Or even a Li Na win as I can see the crowds of Wimbledon really liking her and i think she could be a star of the game despite her age. Women's tennis needs a new star.

I'd love for Clijsters to win Wimbledon but it's never going to happen is it? Every time it looks like she's in great shape coming into Wimbledon she ends up stumbling before the semis.

This said I have big love for the Williams sisters (Serena particularly) so I wouldn't mind at least one of them making the final. I think Sharapova has a real shot this year though so I'm going to make an early prediction of a Sharapova/Serena final.

In my wildest dreams Hantuchová would make it as far as the semis and she is on great form at the minute (hopefully she'll win the Birmingham title today) but still. I'd also like to see Ivanovic do well (quarters or further).

Yeah I agree that something will end up happening to her lol.

I love the Williams sisters too but i love the game more so i don't want them to win, i'm hoping that they'll start playing in more tournaments (than they used to ) now they've been out a while as they both said they miss the game. I'd defintely be up for a final with those two, for Sharapova to win though. And I also really like both Hantuchova and Ivanovic, i really want Ivanovic to get back to her best, i miss her at the top.

Hantuchová just went down 3-6 2-6 against Lisicki in the Birmingham final! Bad times.
I really want Anne Keothavong to do well this year! She always suffers terribly from the draws and deserves to at least make the 3rd round. Another Pironkova style shock from last year would be great as well, it's always good to have an underdog do well against the greats

Tsonga vs Murray has gone to a third set now that Murray just took the tie-break in the second. 6-3 6-7.
I hope Murray loses. I detest this whole attitude of when he wins he's British but whenever he loses he's Scottish.

Whose attitude is that exactly?

I'm supporting Tsonga but only on the grounds that Murray is highly unlikeable.
