Can we keep this thread on the topic of the tennis being played and not whether Andy Murray is a Nazi blah blah? Thanks.

The womens' quarters were pretty interesting. Cibulkova came nowhere near her standard of play from the 4th round so I was guess she was pretty tired but it was good to see Maria on form. She's been inconsistent until now but maybe this is a turning point.

Bartoli v Lisicki was brilliant. Those final 20 minutes of the second set were bloody intense but Marion just didn't have the movement around the court to keep the momentum up. Again tired from the Serena win? I don't know.

I'd have liked Paszek to have put up more of a fight against Azarenka just because I like an underdog. The Kvitova v Pironkova game was dull. I'm going to stick my neck out and say the final will be Lisicki vs Azarenka. On form Lisicki is absolutely tremendous.

Tsonga made a fantastic comeback against Federer just now too.

Had £10 on Tsonga to win today, wish I'd have gone a bit higher
No he doesn't. He said it once as a joke that he supported whoever England play, 5 years ago. It's fine to hate him for being a prick because he is but he's said so many times that was a joke to a reporter who'd provoked him to say it.

Precisely. It's another of those sporting myths like Cliff always "entertaining" the crowds at Wimbledon when it rains. He did it once.

 good start for Lisicki!!! :cheer:

F*ck you Sharapova ^_^

Oh Sabine

Edit as don't want to be making three posts in a row....

That was a truly horrible match to watch, such dire tennis for two semi finalists.

Bah, expected that match to be far better - ridiculously scrappy from Sharapova but Lisicki just seemed to stop competing after the first 4 games or so...

Sharapova vs. Kvitova in the final, I don't mind who wins - it would be nice for Sharapova after 7 years but at the same time it would be great to see somebody win their first grand slam!

I'm glad this turned out to be the final from the semis. I'd much rather Sharapova win, women's Tennis has had too many first time gland slam winners recently.

Isn't it just?!?

Really rooting for Tsonga here, he's so much fun to watch. Definitely one of my favourite male players. Hoping for a similar turnaround as we witnessed in the quarters here.

Oh well.

Come on Nadal! Not just supporting him to be facetious, in truth I don't mind Murray but Nadal is (a) incredibly lovely, (B) incredibly sexy and © the better player so a Nadal - Djokovic final will most likely produce more entertaining tennis...

I'd much rather have a close match than one where anybody dominates to be honest. And Murray's still in it.
He's hanging by a thread, he'll need to win two sets and Nadal's in imperious form at the moment! I would like to see Murray get through to a Wimbledon final but I think he'll need somebody else to knock Nadal out for him before he ever does.
It's hard to see Murray ever winning a Grand Slam when the likes of Nadal and Djokovic are around. They're so good when they're at their best that even if Murray manages to be the third best and by a significant margin, he could still be streets behind the top two, Nadal has thrashed him today!
He might manage to win one if one of the others is ever injured? His best chance is definitely the US or Australian Open, not Wimbledon.

Well he's just come back from match point so he's had a short stay of execution at least.

That was rather inevitable sadly :( Murray came back well but Nadal is too good. The final should be excellent but I'm expecting Nadal to just about do it again.

I'm sure Murray will win a slam, but like I say, I'm pretty sure it will never be at Wimbledon - the pressure is too much, and there are at least two or three players around that are better on grass than him. I wouldn't put it past him winning the US Open...
