I guess i'll start a topic on this as it looks like no-one at the moment is uploading the OFFICIAL worldwide album sales and most popular single sales according to paid downloads, physical sales and airplay.

I will update this topic every week.

Chart Information:

Red Triangle = 2 million sales/points

It must be really rare that a song debuts at #1 on this chart! :o I suppose it's mainly songs from Japan that manage it.
OFFICIAL

UNOFFICIAL

Maybe in some way interesting, but it's just fun.

Each of us can create these charts, based on available data and using one or another point system.

For the albums it's practically official but unofficial for the singles.

Plus it's not a chart made for fun, you practically can't find a better worldwide chart than Mediatraffic.

@Eric Bob, it's not surprised considering how much it sold in Japan in a week. It broke Gaga's week with most points of 688.000 so... :(

@Bray I will keep updating it every week if I can :D

Is that the band who in Japan have something like 26 no. 1's?

No it's not a band but a all-girl group consisting of more than 48 members.

Here are their recent totals for their past singles (ONLY PHYSICAL CD SINGLES):

01. Aitakatta: 39,862

02. Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru: 21,989

03. Keibetsu $h!teita Aijou: 22,671

04. Bingo!: 25,611

05. Boku no Taiyou: 25,946

06. Yuuhi wo Miteiru ka: 15,370

07. Romance, Irane: 23,209

08. Sakura no Hanabiratachi: 46,274

09. Baby! Baby! Baby!: NO SALE FIGURE

10. Oogoe Diamond: 92,529

11. 10nen Zakura: 119,890

12. Namida Surprise!: 163,501

13. Iiwake Maybe: 141,958

14. River: 255,012 (#1)

15. Sakura no Shiori: 401,403 (#1)

16. Ponytail to Chouchou: 717,564 (#1)

17. Heavy Rotation: 822,621 (#1)

18. Beginner: 1,017,428 (#1)

19. Chance no Junban: 691,345 (#1)

20. Sakura no Ki ni Narou: 1,072,392 (#1)

21. Everyday, Katyusha: 1,447,563 (Still charting) (#1)

As you can see, their sales just keep on increasing and increasing. They broke the record of the most number of sales for a single in 1 week ever.

As for the most #1 singles, I think the one with 26 #1s is B'z at the moment, they competed with AKB48 this week but AKB48 lost to B'z as it was their second week of chart (AKB48 dropped from 1.33mil to 111k)

Isn't there a boyband called Arashi who always get #1 in Japan? There was a song from them last year called Monster which I listened to a lot.

Yes but Arashi sucks :D

But they are no competition with AKB48, they never try to release their singles on the week. They tend to have a 500k-600k first week sales but have literally not much longevity.

Judging by Monster (I also listened to a song of theirs called Troublemaker, I think), Arashi are pretty awesome. :kink:

Arashi is part of the agency called the Johnny Entertainment, you will realize all the Arashi songs sound the same along with their bandmates NEWS, Kat-Tun, SMAP, Hey! Say! JUMP!, etc....

BORINGGGG :D

Only good if you listen to a few of the songs but following them will be a pain because of how repetitive the sound is..
