Just heard the new LMFAO song, don't like it...

'Shelter' is a cover of the xx track of the same name that appears on their debut album. Clearly it's angered people that she's released another cover, but Fearne Cotton was speaking yesterday of how she's releasing covers until she fully perfects her debut album; nothing wrong with that.

 

Ah, I see. 'Shelter' isn't that great IMO, probably the worst of the songs I've heard from The xx's album.

 

Pleasing to see SFTTR top 40 already, hopefully she hasn't left the release too late to get another top 5 hit.

I hope Nelly releases it as a single now. This is already doing almost as well as his actual singles have done. His song with Kelly Rowland didn't get much higher than this. Sending it to radio and giving it a music video asap would do it good I think.

Personally, I think the beat is fantastic. I think I'd like it if it was done by a male vocalist. I like the bits when Tinie and The Cataracs are providing vocals too. :D

I personally find the production cheap, the lyrics tacky and the song in general very much like 'Like A G6' which gives it zero originality and instead makes it look like Dev and co. are trying to recreate the "magic" of LAG6 (even though the novelty wore off pretty quickly for me with that song).

Bass Down Low is awfully trashy, but it is rather catchy :( and that bassline is incredibly infectious
