he's changed his management, and is apparently working on new material for a new album. many music journalists have said that he needs to try somethig new and he could comeback bigger than ever. However, do you think the catastrophe that is his personal life will have affected him so much that people don't want to buy his music?

personally I think no matter how good his music will be, sales will be poor. After over a decade of negative publicity, I really don't think he can push through it.

I agree with this. I personally loved the 'Rock My World' song but the album it came from flopped hideously, despite it being actually pretty good material IMO. That was after his first bout of negative publicity, I don't think he can manage it at all now.

I think the opposite! It has been proven in recent years that no matter how bad the material is he always sells because he's Michael Jackson and despite everything that's happened he'll still sell reasonably whatever he brings out.

Remember some of his fans are pretty mad

I was going to find damning evidence to prove you wrong Knickerless, but instead I found out that his last album 'Invincible' sold 11 million copies worldwide (:o) so I decided to shut up. -_-

the way people go on about it, I thought it was a major flop, how is 11 million a flop?! :o

I think it'll sell reasonably well, I may get it if the first single is strong... But alot of people will buy it just because of all his negative press, and many will make fun. I agree with everyone in saying that he won't sell as much as he used to (not anywhere near) but I think he may get a moderatly successful album if he tries!

I know :o Hence my post up there ^ to Nicky where I said I was going to get some sales to prove to him that his new stuff won't sell, and then I find this out

of course mj can come bak, at the end of the day if he does a world tour every1 will want to see him perform, in todays market mj will never have the sucsess of the 80s but im sure he will still do amazing
i hav o agree. his personal; will over shadow any thing he does but lets just wait and see

its hard to know,i really thought the recent re release of dual disc singles would have don efar better than they did,not 1 of them managed to get to the top 10 which i didnt expect,

if or when he releases new material,he really needs to pull out all the stops he cant afford anything to go wrong, huge promotion, work with the best team he can, excellent video the works and he may manage a decent comeback

Yeah the re-releases didnt do well at all but i think they were released to close to the scandal. they should have wait till it died down,

and the other side is he didnt do that great pre all the scandal his last comeback single you rock my world was held of number 1 in the uk by a certain kylie minogue with cant get you out of my head, she was number 1 for 4 weeks the week you rock my world entered at number 2

also invincible album didnt do near aswell as previous albums,so it cant all be blamed on the scandal,he just needs strongre material

but 11 million shouldn't be considered a flop either, its really successful, even if it isnt as high as thriller sales
