I hated Warpath when I heard it on S1, but listening to it just now for the final, I changed my mind :P

 

It's definitely a grower. When Silas first showed me it a couple of months back I think my exact comments were 'it's alright, 7.5/10 at best'.

 

But as with almost all 'trashy' Ashton entries it has a way of getting stuck in my head when I least expect it - it happened with Underwear and it's happened with Warpath. You'll have to wait and see if it grew on me enough to include in my votes, seeing as the lowest rated song I gave points to was an 8.5/10 :o

 

It's always dangerous to rate a song based on one listen, Satellite taught me that if nothing else :lol: It's been getting a lot of love from various people so it looks like a top five shoe-in at the moment.

Warpath was so instant for me. It was the only song I liked instantly from SF1 actually, the rest I liked/gave points to were growers!

There ought to be some sort of repurcussion, I understand that DNQ's aren't great - been there, done that - but by confirming a song in the competition you're signing yourself up to vote in both the semis and the final imo. I know people have time constraints or whatever but 10 non-voters is insane (although I expect it will be more like 6/7 by the time of the deadline - still ridiculous though, we usually have 1 or 2).

I actually just sent my votes in, wasn't sure if I would have enough time today, was barely online.

Not really, unfortunately. There's nothing anywhere near as good as Warpath.

Last time when I was in same situation (didn't made the final) some people has told me that I don't need to vote if don't wanna, so i thought that the rules are the same.

That has never been the case, and I have no idea who told you that, but it can't have been anybody with much experience.

 

Besides, it doesn't matter what the rules may or may not have been in previous contests...it is made quite clear on the first page of this thread that everyone was meant to vote.

I totally agree even the DNQs should vote. This might sound a bit harsh, but if a DNQ country doesn't vote, I think they should be banned from the next contest or something to give an incentive for voting. I think the poinr reduction is good for qualifying countries, but the DNQs need something too. It's the same in Eurovision, the country doesn't just not vote because they didn't qualify!

That used to be the way it worked and as a result we barely ever had any non-voters, 1 or 2 at most and they were swiftly removed from contention in the next contest. The problem with so many non-voters that it throws up a skewed result which isn't what anybody wants (if say all of the non-voters are indie fans then Pavel's going to suffer :lol:). One of these months, the country that would have won will fail to vote and we'll end up with a default winner.

 

I like voting anyway, regardless of whether I qualify or not, it's as much about discovering and rewarding new music as it is about competing with my own entry.
