it will be an extremely front loaded number one with no longevity.

Are they releasing ANOTHER album already? What happened to releasing an album and promoting that for two years and getting biggest sales possible, rather than just go for loads of albums for the sake of more number one singles? Its beyond me.

They've slowly evolved into an "urban" Westlife. Shame really because apart from the loyal fanbase, nobody else (heck, even the loyal fans give it 3 months) won't remember this song. It'd be an absolute shame to see this excuse of a "song" get to #1 :(

I'd rather see DJ Fresh spend the next 10 weeks at #1 than see JLS there for 1 miserable week only to drop out of the top 40 within 6 weeks.

Basically what I'd expect will happen. :P

I don't like this song as much as the incredible Eyes Wide Shut, but it's a step up from the absolute POS that was The Club Is Alive. However, being an American, I probably don't have the same JLS experience. I can imagine this being painfully overplayed across the pond, similar what they've done to poor Rolling in the Deep over here. I do genuinely enjoy them sometimes, though.

I said #1 will happen, I'd place it around 2-5.

#1 in both.

Actually really like this. In fact, of JLS's singles, there are only 2 that I do not like/love - TCIA and EWS, which are both horrendous.

I'm not sure if the track will go to #1 actually, it probably get released early with the On Air/On Sale thingy by charting lower, but I don't think it be strong enough to knock DJ Fresh off the top spot, DJ Fresh seems to be flying at the moment, I think the next #1 will come from Cher Lloyd after DJ Fresh, at least for the next few weeks the #1 spot will be on British soil.

It can't be on-air/on-sale though as its been on the radio for weeks now.

I can't see anything other than a #1 for this, with close to 100k sales opening week.

It's not on air/on sale. It premiered about 6 weeks ago now and STILL isn't released - it's been on a number of radio station playlists for a while already and is onto Radio 1 this week I believe.

Plus the video is being released at the end of this week - definately not OAOS

I didn't realise its been out for a while, I'm so out of touch with the new releases lately.

"Note to self... must do research first before posting" :(

Well put it this way. My next door neighbour is having work done on his house (changing the roof tiles) and whilst I was in the garage earlier this morning, the young lads doing the work had their radio tuned into Key 103. They played this and 'Glad You Came' by The Wanted within the space of 15 minutes.

So both songs are definitely not getting the OA/OS treatment. Ie; the record company must've released that these type of boybands do not benefit from such things and they need their new singles to have as much exposure as possible before release. Then they can sit back and smile as the song gets its one week at #1 before dropping down never to recover.

I think that's why I admire 'Price Tag' by Jessie J so much. Given OA/OS treatment and defied all the odds and went #1 in its opening week of release.

Even Price Tag had radio play well before its release date, so can't be classed as proper "on-air/on-sale".

I would classify on-air/on-sale as the likes of Lady GaGa - BTW and Beyonce - RTW(G).

I've always reckoned that two years is an appropriate interval between albums.

The first year or so can then be used for promoting/touring, with the rest of the time used for writing & recording material for the next album.

I agree.

I do understand that fans want more material which is why I dont have a HUGE problem with Rereleases if they come in EP form.

I bought 'Bright Lights' because I borrowed 'Lights' off a friend, but with Ellie her fans, including me, are desperatley wanting a new album, but we're happy to wait, because we'd rather have to wait for a great album than some rubbish, rushed one.

JLS fans buy their songs and albums because of their appearance. Shame really.

JLS aren't the only pop act to release without a big interval - Rihanna seems to release something every year for instance - its just the way it works these days.

Acts that wait for 2 years inbetween usually rip off their fans with Special Deluxe edition of their albums - surely if they waited a couple more months they could release a brand new album and they'd be no need for a deluxe edition in the first place.

Although in general they are pop acts as opposed to alternative/ rock acts

I posted this before :P but the only weeks Rihanna was absent from the top 100 / 75 (until mid-2007) singles since her début were:

1 week after Pon De Replay initially dropped out (it returned the next week then If It's Lovin' That You Want came out the week after)

11 weeks between the end of If It's Lovin' That You Want's run and the start of SOS' run

25 weeks between the end of We Ride's run and the start of Umbrella's run

20 weeks between the end of Live Your Life's run and the start of Run This Town's run

A total of just 57 weeks out of 306 since her début.
