I really dont know why Dev is even in JLS' new song. Just so unnecessary, i think many people think they just need to add someone, anyone to rap a little on their songs.

I'm glad you said that... :)

I think Dev probably came with the beat, if that makes sense.

whatever a #1 sounds like.

It's just a phrase that gets tossed around, and I guess to an extent it's due to personal taste. To me, 'Happy' sounded like a sure-fire #1, then it wasn't. But then it comes down to my personal opinion, I think Happy is A LOT better than Collide, so in my head I'm thinking 'if Happy couldn't get to #1, then how will Collide manage it?'.

From last year, Bad Romance, Fireflies, Dynamite, Just The Way You Are, Written In The Stars & Only Girl always sounded like #1s to me. Then we have This Ain't A Love Song, Please Don't Let Me Go & Start Without You, none of which I'd have expected to get to #1 [especially for more than one week, in the case of TAALS & SWY].

 But i like some rap, and sometimes its necessary for a song to have a rap artist featured, fair enough, but sometimes its just so random, kind of like Tinie Tempah in Eyes Wide Shut, he had like a few lines which was just unnecessary..

But the thing is some songs that dont reach #1, if released at another time, or if other songs (which stop that song from going to #1) were released at a different time, who knows maybe the songs that just missed out on #1 would have made it. Its just luck of who you're up against, and when you release, along with support and promo. You obviously need the backing of big sales (Like Happy had for example) but a lot of it is to do with luck i'd say, in the sense, what other songs are out at that time and what time the label choose to release. :)

(sorry for double post!)

Where Them Girls At  #14 :) Looks like it'll have a similar chart run to Who's That Chick.

SFTTR any closer to top 10? I think it was 7% behind few hours ago! Where is the remix? May close the gap a little :P Love the remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_DXrlDL8F4

I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks of number ones. The Wanted x2 then JLS :puke: :puke: I love Dev but her part in SMMW is one of the worst "raps" ever - some of the lyrics (both Dev and JLS) are cringeworthy - it's a shame JLS are turning into Westlife and going to number one with any $h!t they release :( :(
^ I don't think Dev's is that bad. I think the worst from this year is probably the rap verse in Friday. I don't think there was a single rhyme in it.

I think JLS will be number 1, but I'm not sure about these huge opening week sales - I'd say more around 80-90k, The Club Is Alive opened on 84k, so I think this will probably do similar to what that did, so another 'non number 1' could beckon :( admittedly though, I thought this about the Wanted at first

The rap does ruin 'Friday' a bit - I like 'Friday' in a novelty way :kink: but the rap is unnessesary

R-B, Rebecca Black

So chillin' in the front seat (In the front seat)

In the back seat (In the back seat)

I'm drivin', cruisin' (Yeah, yeah)

Fast lanes, switchin' lanes

Wit' a car up on my side (Woo!)

(C'mon) Passin' by is a school bus in front of me

Makes tick tock, tick tock, wanna scream

Check my time, it's Friday, it's a weekend

We gonna have fun, c'mon, c'mon, y'all

Yeah, so only 'seat' and 'seat' (which isn't actually 'proper' rhyming) and 'me' and 'scream' (which only just passes as a rhyme). He didn't credit himself for a reason I guess :P

I love Friday  I only listen to the single version though, the rap is so unneeded.

Yeah. He rhymes "seat" with "seat", but then again, Pitbull rhymes "Kodak" with "Kodak".

I guess you could say he rhymes "lanes" with "lanes" aswell, and "drivin'" with "cruisin'".

Also, the beginning of the verse ("R-B, Rebecca Black") is like the beginning of Nicki's verse in Where Them Girls At ("P.B., P.B., Who's Peebe Bryson?").

I think, if the song was really inteded to be making a mockery of modern pop music, then they probably made the rap verse so terrible and pointless on purpose. No real rapper would write that.

I've just heard robyn - 'call your girlfriend'. good thing it's playlisted and I hope it'll do well, it's brilliant. probably my favourite song by her.

it's in the top 100 right now so that's a good sign. ^_^

I think JLS will go to number 1

their fanbase is huge

I think the wanted will be number 1 until JLS are released, then JLS will be number 1 for a few weeks

a few weeks? JLS will obviously debut at no.1 but Cher Lloyd is released the week after and she's a definite number one. Remember the 1-7 drop JLS did last year with TCIA  I don't think SMMW will drop that fast - but it won't hold up that well and The Wanted will be the bigger hit overall

hope JLS won't be number 1 more than 1 week, they really are realizing crap leading singles each y     ear

as much as I like JLS the club is alive is one of the worst number ones ever. I really don't think it should of got to number 1.

SMMW is quite good I think. But better than TCIA. JLS always seem to release their best third lol

no way will they be number 1 for more than a week, even with good opening sales, Cher will easily knock them off the next week

I like Cher but swagger Jagger is a terrible song imo.

Wow so a lot of people think Cher could actually get to #1 with 'Swagger Jagger', i've been telling people i know that it might but they keep saying she's too hated, but i think she does have fans too. I'm curious how it'll do thats for sure, maybe similar to Whip My Hair?

I ain't sure if she will. I know she has fans but I dont think her fanbase is that big. She didn't seem to have that much support on x factor.

The Wanted, JLS then Cher Lloyd for #1? :D

It's like we've gone back to 2004 where you could predict the next few #1 hits just from looking at the release schedule.
