Posted July 14, 201114 yr I've just remembered, it's a year since Aphrodite topped the chart! So how did you feel when you heard about Kylie's new album? When Aphrodite debuted at number one? About the era as a whole? I can remember pre-ordering as soon as it was available, and sticking it on the stereo as soon as I got it! THE album of the Summer!! Here are the singles that were released from Aphrodite! frv6FOt1BNI BHGaW8lBlSk vypAgJWiifA K2Rr_2CS1kQ
July 14, 201114 yr Oh, i remember been so excited when i saw the first midweek flash where Kylie was number 1, i was so happy on the sunday when she debuted at number 1 and i was impressed with its opening sales of 79,152. I had loved all the lovers from the very first listen and i still do and i had great expectations for this era. While i do love the album, i think the singles choices and order with the excxeption of all the lovers killed the album in some way and prevented it from selling far more than it did. Get outta my way in my opinion should never have been the 2nd single, closer or cupid boy would have been better. Again the promotion for the singles was out of synce with the release dates which also hindered their success. That aside, i really like aphrodite as an album, its better as a collective where as X had better single choices but as a collective was hit and miss.
July 14, 201114 yr Author I love Get Outta My Way, and I'm glad it was released as single no. 2! I can remember ever one thinking that it was certain for number one or atleast Top 5, and then it only reached #12 :( And to make things worse, it dropped to #31 the following week :( I can remember when I heard that Better Than Today would be the 3rd single, and I was slightly disappointed because I didn't really notice it much on the album, and I really wanted Aphrodite (single) or Cupid Boy to be released. And then on the week of its physical release, it was #18 on the Tuesday's midweek, then #22 on the Wednesday, then somewhere #26-#30 and then finally #32 on Sunday! Ouch! :o I could tell that this would be the end of the era at this point, which was really disappointing considering it started brilliantly! I was hoping Cupid Boy or Aphrodite could be released to finish off the album, but then Higher was released which I knew would delay the possible release of a 4th single. But I loved Higher, probably as much as I did Get Outta My Way. But I was really annoyed that there was a Travie version too, and I hate the fact that the radio would play the Travie version, that the Travie version was released in the US (I thought that Higher could of made America aware of Kylie again if her version was released there, and that it could of been a big hit for her, since Taio had had a lot of success in America. And then the Travie version appeared on Now 78!!) But I was glad that Higher became another Top 8 for Kylie, even though there was a million other versions that helped it get Top 10! Then there was the rumours of a re-release, which I was really looking forward to, because it would mean that Aphrodite would shoot up the charts again and it would mean more songs (and singles!). But after Kylie comfirmed no more singles would be released (which wasn't exactly true), I was gutted :( Then with the release of Put Your Hands Up, I was pleased because PYHU was to be released in the FANTASTIC PETE HAMMOND REMIX FORM!!!! And the b-side Silence was a stunning track! Despite some poor chartings here and there, I loved this era! Aphrodite and All the Lovers were my album and song of the Summer, and every track on the album I now love to bits! I just can't wait for Kylie's new studio album! (which will probably be in another 3 years time!)
July 14, 201114 yr I think i had heard so much hype about get out of my way before i heard it that it ended up been disapointing for me, i always felt it was a poor version of the brilliant love at first sight. With get outta my way ben 2nd single i had hoped it would have gone top 10 but the signs before its release suggested it wouldnt happen and it didnt. I was gutted with better than todays chart performance, the only saving grace was its sales were decent enough for a number 32 hit, and i woud say as it stands it hasnt sold an awful lot less than get outta my way. Higher while i like it, is nothing special and would be my least favourite offical kylie duet, i would have been much happier if another song of aphrodite has mustered up the same success as it did. Put your hands up has really grown on me especially since i heard it performed live, it came alive, silence the b side was also a great song, put your hand sup charted higher than i though it would in the uk and strangely enough it ended up been the 2nd most successful single of the album in australia. Im glad i got my hands on a copy of the phyisical release although i would have been even happier if silence was on the cd single.
