'Best Thing I Never Had' was and is a hit in the US; in the UK, if she'd flopped as hard as she did with 'Run the World', then radio wouldn't touch her, but seeing as it's the US, they gave the song a chance as it's been top twenty for a month now.

I don't know how US radio works exactly, but the was most stations in the UK has its advantages. Whilst they stop playing artists if they start flopping (see Britney Spears), in the US songs can get to #1 on iTunes and get minimal airplay (e.g. Moves Like Jagger initiailly, Skyscraper, No Sleep, etc.), which we don't really see happen in the UK.

Yeah, when a song gets really high on UK iTunes radio seems to think "We must start playing this NOW" and in the US they don't really care. It's so random over there.

Anyway, You Make Me Feel... up to #13! :yahoo:

Not sure about radio, but it got to #16 on the Hot 100 (and also #8 on the RnB chart, #15 on the pop chart and #3 on the dance chart (there's some brilliant remixes of the song, which is probably why)).

In the US, a #16 peak is better than getting a #16 peak in the UK, because you get the same songs hogging up the top of the chart for ages, if that makes sense. Quite a lot of songs which miss the top 20 make the year-end top 100 in the US, for example. In the UK, it's quite rare for that to happen (I think only Dog Days Are Over managed to do it last year).

 19. Someone Like You - ADELE

Making very good progress, great that Adele isn't going to be a 'one hit wonder' (although she wasn't a one hit wonder anyway as 'Chasing Pavements' was already a hit, just nowhere near the scale of 'Rolling In The Deep'). Hopefully SLY can go at least top 5, I don't think another #1 is completely out of the question either :D

Someone Like You just needs some promotion over there that will make people feel the emotion of the song. That's how it got to #1 in the UK. And also in Australia and New Zealand, where it got to #1. Apparently the main thing that boosted the song to #1 there was its use in a TV program or soap opera or something.

So Adele should try and do a really good performance of it somewhere. Or we can hope it gets used in a TV program.

It will be interesting to see what the video will be like, if it will be the brits performance, another performance or an original video

I Australia and New Zealand (and possibly some other countries) they used the BRITs performance video, so they might do that in the US aswell.

Thanks Eric, yeah definitely the US chart is so so different from the UK chart.

I also hope SLY can get big over there, ofcourse not RITD scale as thats lead single and i'd say more American appeal, but SLY will help the album continue to sell very very well in US.

Pleasantly surprised at the longevity Coldplay are enjoying! I had a feeling Coldplay might just flop with this entire era but ETIAW is exceeding my expectations. :D

Also completely shocked at how well 'Nothing' is doing - how are The Script not flopping in the USA yet?!

Adele will probably perform Someone Like You at the VMA's -> Number one

She'll be stupid not singing it.

That would obviously be the best thing to do but I get the feeling she'll probably do Rolling In The Deep anyway. I hope I'm wrong.

When are the VMAs?

#13 Yoü and I

They are sending different versionf of Y&I to different states where "Nebraska" is replaced with that states name (ie "It's my daddy, and Florida and Jesus Christ") which im guessing will help the song a fair bit!!
