The Kooks are back with new single Is It Me from their third studio album "Junk of the heart". Single out on 4th September and the album the following week.

Sounds very like Naive so would give maybe a hint they are going back to their 2005/6 direction.

I hope it bombs and they disappear completely, they were the worst and most generic of the whole 'landfill indie' thing five years ago.

I'm actually very very surprised.

 

I thought I'd grown out of my whole 'indie pop' phase, but the stuff I've heard off the new Kooks record is fantastic. I prefer Junk of the Heart massively to Is It Me, but the instrumental on Is It Me gives me shivers every time I hear it. It's a great little number. I don't think they'll do particularly well now as the era of indie is dead, but I'll always have a soft spot for them.
