I think DJ Fresh's track is better than Charice but I do like this track too. It's actually grown on me quite a bit since BJSC XXXIV where this track ended up winning the contest. Interestingly, her debut single 'Pyramid' also peaked at #16 last year. That said, Charice might well climb but I don't see the track rocketing high up my chart.

I was surprised when I saw the video to 'Rabiosa' seeing Shakira as a brunette. It's a good song but it's nowhere near being one of my all time favourite Shakira tracks.

 

21 (--) The Wanted - Glad You Came (21) [1 wk] - This falls into 'good Wanted' category for me. They've been a bit hit and miss, but I like this now, and it's a good #1 (although I suspect you'd rather it wasn't :P)

 

Well it's their highest charting single for me but The Wanted lack that something to make their songs appealing enough to make my top 20. 'Glad You Came' has terrible lyrics and a lacklustre chorus imo but I do like other elements to this song. I really think this song had potential to be pop gold but it's more pop bronze.

 

23 (--) Miles Kane - Inhaler (23) [1 wk] - This has had good airplay, and I like it, and I didn't expect to.

 

That bass riff in the intro really sells the song. I only discovered Miles Kane via The Last Shadow Puppets as I really liked this project from 2008.

I found myself liking these two tracks more and more over the last couple of weeks so that explains the gradual climb up my chart rather than entering at its peak. Expect to see Ed Sheeran and Beyonce sticking around the higher tier of my chart for a good few weeks.

I was never going to leave Charice in my pre-release chart for 6 months before deciding to chart it - it had to enter sooner or later. :D Interesting to note that 'Louder' equals the peak of 'Pyramid' by Charice from last year. Also coincidentally, Christina Perri 'Arms' has equalled the peak of 'Jar Of Hearts'. It really is a pure coincidence but as I mentioned in the above post these tracks may climb but I don't see either hitting the dizzy heights of the top 5.

It's a nice enough pleasant song that actually does have some real meaning and emotion behind it. When the track first went to no. 1 in Norway, I was interested in the track so YouTube'd it to see what the fuss was. Then I realised that the song is about his girlfriend who iirc suffered brain damage after being involved in a severe car accident. My only slight issue with the song is it sounds like it should be in a lower key. I find strained singing really painful to listen to and this verges on that. That said, I do like the song but not enough for Chris Medina to be enjoying Scandinavian style success here.

18. I stopped watching AI a long time ago, even though having Jennifer Lopez on the panel interested me - clearly not enough to watch it though. Usually some dire male country/'rock' act wins and flops after not even scoring one hit single! It says it all that 30+ million people watch it and the winner's song never even goes to #1 on iTunes! :lol:

 

21. Heart Vacancy is a bit bland/dated as well, very 2002...strange choice of second single indeed.

 

38. Bubbly got to #4 for me but it was Realize and The Little Things from her album Coco which did best for me, peaking at #1 and #2 respectively. Thing is, I do remember commercial radio supporting Bubbly on both of its releases but it never took off for whatever reason, yet the similar I'm Yours by Jason Mraz has gone on to sell 500k here - even stranger is that their duet Lucky did absolutely nothing here!

18. I stopped watching AI a long time ago, even though having Jennifer Lopez on the panel interested me - clearly not enough to watch it though. Usually some dire male country/'rock' act wins and flops after not even scoring one hit single! It says it all that 30+ million people watch it and the winner's song never even goes to #1 on iTunes! :lol:

 

21. Heart Vacancy is a bit bland/dated as well, very 2002...strange choice of second single indeed.

 

38. Bubbly got to #4 for me but it was Realize and The Little Things from her album Coco which did best for me, peaking at #1 and #2 respectively. Thing is, I do remember commercial radio supporting Bubbly on both of its releases but it never took off for whatever reason, yet the similar I'm Yours by Jason Mraz has gone on to sell 500k here - even stranger is that their duet Lucky did absolutely nothing here!

 

18. To be honest I've never really watched American Idol as in watchd the entiew series without fail. I just catch 15 minutes of one weeks show whilst having something to eat. When I found out who had won AI 2011 I actually sighed. I just don't see him doing well outside of Texas America.

38. I noticed that it had been a top 5 hit in almost every world territory other than the UK. I just don't get why we're the only country to ignore her :( I discovered her on MySpace in about June 2007 and imported the abum straight away. The Little Things was actually the first song I heard of hers!
