July 20, 201114 yr Finish Line is my favourite out of these songs tbh. I can't see it winning though, somehow.
July 20, 201114 yr I've always find this award a bit fixed. Girls aloud nearly won every year. I am suprised they didn't nominate Nadine. I bet Nicole ends up winning I would prefer Rolling in the deep. It's the best song this year.
July 20, 201114 yr Jessie J, Sats and Nicola are my faves - ideally love 'Higher' to win but any of those three would be good.
July 20, 201114 yr Joe McElderry? Seriously? my favourite on that list would be The Flood, probably gonna be The Saturdays or Nicola Roberts who win it though
July 20, 201114 yr Finish Line or Higher would be great choices to win that. Stay, The Flood, Rolling In The Deep and Beat Of My Drum (and Ambitions http://forum.canterlot.net/images/emotes/mlp-tawkward.png) are good songs too, but I can't see Stay, Ambitions or The Flood winning. It'll be between Higher and Beat Of My Drum.
July 20, 201114 yr 'Ambitions' was only nominated because Popjustice loves the original - and as that's not by a British artist, he thought he'd put it it for the sake of it? I hope Nicola wins, but I can see Adele taking it maybe?
July 20, 201114 yr I would LOVE for Higher to win it, easily my favourite on the list. Sunday Girl is the only one that comes close to it for me.
July 21, 201114 yr Adele is really unlikely to win this. The sorts of people who'll be chosen as judges are the sorts of people who will most likely have turned against Adele after the constant wave after wave of hype for her.
September 6, 201113 yr And we have VICTORY for The Satz, with Nicola 2nd and HURTS 3rd. I'd have preferred that in reverse but it's definitely the right top three.
September 6, 201113 yr I am expectedly UBER PLEASED that Higher has won. If ever a song was truly worthy of 12451/10 it is that.
September 7, 201113 yr I'm happy with that win, it's my favourite song on the list and The Saturdays' second best song. I wasn't happy with last year's winner at all, as much as I liked 'Kickstarts'.
September 7, 201113 yr Higher is bloody overrated to the high hills and back. I don't understand it at all. It's fun I suppose but it doesn't really leave an IMPRESSION. I'm in a great minority but I really do much prefer Forever Is Over and Missing You. The former has more attitude and the latter is a real melancholy moment.

I suppose it made a change from Girls Aloud or somebody related winning all the time but I've never got the fuss around Kickstarts at all :( Higher is a far superior winner and I'm glad it didn't succumb to the 'got irritating quickly' Beat Of My Drum! Higher is bloody overrated to the high hills and back. I don't understand it at all. It's fun I suppose but it doesn't really leave an IMPRESSION. I'm in a great minority but I really do much prefer Forever Is Over and Missing You. The former has more attitude and the latter is a real melancholy moment. It's just a great, uplifting pop song which is packed full of hooks and sometimes there's nothing more joyful than that. Missing You actually isn't far away from it in my affections though it has to be said, albeit for completely different reasons, that glorious rave ballad was so underappreciated. Forever Is Over has as much attitude as Gary Barlow's new haircut, the true lowlight of their singles for me. The melody isn't bad per se but I don't think that it should have been produced as a pop/rock song, it came across as sounding like a Kelly Clarkson reject from 2005. I really think that One Shot (Sats not JLS) type production would have worked well on it.
September 7, 201113 yr Higher is decent in the album version, but god-awful in the single version that was presumably being judged featuring Miss Florencé Rida. I would have much preferred Nicola to win, Hurts would have been my ideal, even if the single picked should have been Illuminated (I presume Wonderful Life was ineligible).
September 7, 201113 yr So less than noted 12455/10 max track Side Chick? Only because I refuse to indulge in such ridiculous levels of hyperbole.
September 7, 201113 yr re. Higher and Jark's comments. As gooddelta says, Higher is packed with massive hooks, far more so than Missing You which is limp and has some truly awful lyrics. ''I Miss Missing You'' is quite clever but aside from that it just continued their trend of weakish lead singles. Also regarding Higher again it's just literally JOY in a song, for me anyway. The Flo Rida verson is far inferior though, WHY did they do it, it can't have garnered them many more sales and the removal of Una's wondrous middle 8 is crinimal. Even if she never could pull it off live and resorts to YE-YE-YE-AY-AY-YE-AY-AY-YE-AY-AY-ing her way through it instead.

It seemed to work as when it was officially released it shot into the top 10. I like 'Higher' because as GD has rightly pointed out, it's exactly what pop music is all about. There's no need for deep meaningful lyrics. It's just a song that's supposed to make you feel good. As for 'Forever Is Over' that ranks as their worst single to date. Far too shouty and as a lead single for that era nearly destroyed them. I blame that lad from Busted who wrote it. Hopeless songwriter who still thought it was 2004. -_-
