Posted July 20, 201113 yr From http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...-That-tour.html Robbie: I’m going solo after Take That tour Gordon Smart Published: Today ROBBIE WILLIAMS is plotting a huge solo tour next summer after his triumphant return to TAKE THAT. It's a massive turnaround for Rob, who only 18 months ago suffered such bad stagefright that the thought of singing in front of an audience had him running to the toilet on his tiptoes. But the 1.8million who have paid to see him on Take That's Progress Live tour have convinced him to do it all on his own again - five years after his last solo shows. A source on tour said: "Rob's in a great place at the moment. "He had such a hellish time the last time he did a global tour that friends never expected him to hit the road again. He scrapped his Close Encounters Tour in 2006 and checked into rehab soon after. "But he's really come round to the idea again. He's been so humbled by the reaction coming back to Take That he's got his management on the case for shows next summer. It's unlikely to be near the scale of his other tours but the ball is now rolling." Anyone who has seen Progress Live will vouch that Rob has a spring back in his step. He has bags of charisma and charm and few singers have his ability to connect with a huge crowd. He won't struggle to sell tickets. Rejoining Take That pals GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE has revitalised his career. He has all the major labels fighting for him now his EMI contract has expired. Sony subsidiary RCA could be where he ends up. They recently hired CHRIS BRIGGS, who first paired Rob with hitmaker GUY CHAMBERS. It won't be long before Rob is again shouting "I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams" - as ink dries on another bumper record deal. :w00t:
July 20, 201113 yr Author You think the new album will be in the shops just before Xmas? Maybe that's too soon. That would clash with the TT dvd -_- Wonder when we get the new single? :w00t:
July 20, 201113 yr Author To be fair to the Sun, that Gordon Smart guy isn't usually too far off the mark when it comes to Robbie 'scoops'. I suspect he has a 'source' ;)
July 20, 201113 yr It fits... Robbie should normally have the first single out around the time the XF live is on (like Shame and Bodies) in early October possibly... There will definitely be a live album for Progress (rumor has it it was all filmed in Wembley and is titled 'at the edge of forever' ) and I quess they will release it in November like Circus live since it has done so well. But that all should be extra hype for Robbie's new singe and album because he was part of Progress both album and tour. There won't be any new TT songs so he won't be on the verge of being overplayed at the time. It sounds a healthy plan. If Robbie's intention is to do a big worldwide tour I can only expect the forthcoming album will be VERY successful. It is too soon to say that but has he ever released a bad album? No. Which leads me to the question, has he finished recording the new album? (I BET he hasn't  )
July 20, 201113 yr Well I bet you didn't think you'd hear me say this - but - if Rob's doing something in Manchester - I'm going to try for tickets. Believe me - I will still be viewing with an open mind - but I think I may enjoy it (mainly his banter - it would help if I liked some of his songs). Kath
July 20, 201113 yr http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/c058.gif Don't get me wrong - there are still a load of his songs that I find totally forgettable (and immensely overrated) and his singing voice sometimes bores the tits off me. However - I was absolutely enthralled with his banter! He was genuinely funny! I thik I can actually enjoy a bloke's concerts without liking the majority of his songs catalogue - although I have a sneaky admiration for She's Madonna, Advertising Space and Tripping ... and as previously stated - I find Rock DJ one of my guilty pleasures! I will NOT however - condone any of his swing stuff! I'm a huge fan of the real thing - especially Dean Martin so Robbie and all of the other impersonators - are just that - impersonators. Unless they can sing the song with a genuine, 100% scotch-on-the-rocks in one hand and a Camel in the other - then they're just p***ing about! Kath

Kath Are there people who actually go to a live concert to watch a singer because of his banter and humour? I had the feeling that an overdose of those is what may be annoying people about him... (despite the fact I love it) Camel and Scotch was a bit too light for Robbie don't you think? Seriously, do you feel smocking and drinking is his weak point ? So Rob's 20 min humour was enough to convert you? He must be a real charmer (or somekind of mentalist) Would you even sing Angels at the end? Edited July 21, 201113 yr by 7heDreamer

You've gotta look the part. No 'swing' singer today gets it completely right - not even Michael Buble - and he's way better at the genre than Robbie. So Rob's 20 min humour was enough to convert you? No 'swing' singer today gets it completely right - not even Michael Buble - and he's way better at the genre than Robbie. Kath I believe in 'evolution of music'. I love when I see swing music rising again through respectable (at least) remakes of Rob or Buble same way I loved how Taylor Swift made a 'renewed' version of country music popular to countries and generations it didn't appeal to. (let's face it SOME of the classics need an update so that younger peolpe can enjoy them too, they sound outdated and rusty) It is just boring to only listen to the pop-dance genre all the time nowadays, so I love any kind of quality music from different genres. And I honesly haven't seen anyone performing the classic swing songs better than Robbie in the past few years. He just has the groove, the intonation... the character required to. But yes, Buble has a WAY better jazz/swing voice. I love to listen to his versions on the radio but I somewhow feel he lacks the required character (both vocaly and on stage).
July 21, 201113 yr According to Robbies blog there will be no tour next year, but there will be one some time :yahoo: Edited July 21, 201113 yr by Sparkle

July 21, 201113 yr Good he needs a break to recharge his batteries I couldn't agree more... we all can wait one more year. Do we know if he has signed with any label though? Or will he release without a label? GOD THAT would be really sth special! :o (if the tour is included in the contract, which I doubt will happen, it will be a huge contract)

July 25, 201113 yr Author According to his blog, he wants to come back in some 'non-standard' way. Not the normal single, album, promote, tour malarkey. The mind boggles.

July 26, 201113 yr Author Why are you asking me? How the frig do I know what he's on about? Maybe he's going to give away a free copy of his new album with every tub of Flora margarine. I dunno!!!!
July 26, 201113 yr -_- perhaps he will Maybe he won't release an album at all to buy, just do a few freebie songs to download like George Michael does now.
