July 20, 201114 yr I was hoping Will young was going to be on there this week but maybe it's a little early? Single of the week on Radio 2, I doubt Radio 1 will playlist him.
July 20, 201114 yr It's not as if there's a massive amount of Rock/Indie anyway. Of those in blue only 12 (not counting upfront, the only one I've heard is Givers) you could class as that, and there's massive differences between many of them. Coldplay and All Time Low are only similar in the same sense that Cheryl Cole and Nicki Minaj are similar because they're female solo artists.
July 20, 201114 yr Single of the week on Radio 2, I doubt Radio 1 will playlist him. It seems as if radio 1 completely ignore some of the best tunes these days. Well, i know thats not really anything new but it's still annoying.

True, I was only really using indie/rock as an example but pretty much ALL of the females on the playlist are pop or R&B which almost suggests that females don't involve themselves with any other type of music  Males are represented on here with pop, dance, dubstep, indie, rock, R&B, rap, singer/songwriter etc...
July 20, 201114 yr All Time Low, Arctic Monkeys, Kids In Glass Houses, The Wombats and Two Door Cinema Club?! BuzzJack will not be happy! Who, Why, What-such a hopeless C-list I am sure Wiz/Tinnie and Calvin are the only ones that will go Top 40. Edited July 20, 201114 yr by marrb
July 20, 201114 yr Who, Why, What-such a hopeless C-list I am sure Wiz/Tinnie are the only ones that will go Top 40. ...and Calvin Harris? He's not going to follow up a big #2 hit with a non-top-40. It seems as if radio 1 completely ignore some of the best tunes these days. Well, i know thats not really anything new but it's still annoying. Surely you can say that about all radio stations unless you have a ridiculously narrow music taste... Edited July 20, 201114 yr by Bré
July 20, 201114 yr ...and Calvin Harris? He's not going to follow up a big #2 hit with a non-top-40. Hello - I should have added and expect R1 Buzzjack PR Bre in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1........ :P
July 20, 201114 yr Hello - I should have added and expect R1 Buzzjack PR Bre in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1........ :P I'm not criticising you this time though, as that's clearly hopeless. It's just slightly ridiculous to think Calvin will miss the top 40  I don't see how saying that makes me 'R1 PR', if I say JLS are going to go top 40, does that also make me 'R1 PR'? :P Edited July 20, 201114 yr by Bré
July 20, 201114 yr Looks like they've made an error with Two Door Cinema Club. Not only have they added the track before, but Two Door have already confirmed they're not releasing anything more from 'Tourist History'. 'Undercover Martin' did not make the Radio 1 playlist the first time it was released. It made the 6music B-List, but that was it. I also thought that TDCC wouldn't be releasing anything else, but I guess their label had other ideas. Must be trying to capitalize on the festival season, of which TDCC have been one of the surprisingly brilliant draws.

I'm certain I remember seeing Undercover Martyn on at least the INMWT List.

July 20, 201114 yr Are you sure about that? I'm certain I remember seeing Undercover Martyn on at least the INMWT List. It definately did not, and neither did the 3rd re-release of Something Good Can Work that followed it. It wasn't until the re-release of I Can Talk that they finally got playlisted on the station, and each subsequent single of theirs has made the list. I remember it clearly because at the time another Northern Irish band, General Fiasco, made the playlist, and I was quite annoyed that they were playlisted whilst the more superior TDCC did not. Then again, fast forward a year it's clear who has done better. After all, have many people on this board ever even heard of General Fiasco?

July 20, 201114 yr ...and Calvin Harris? He's not going to follow up a big #2 hit with a non-top-40. He followed up 2007's #3 hit The Girls with a non top 40 hit in the crap Merrymaking At My Place! Of course it wouldn't happen this time around as he's far more of a 'name', plus Feel So Close is unavailable on any album as yet - probably another top 3 hit on the way for him. I actually prefer it to Bounce personally but it's still not amazing. Acceptable In The 80s, I'm Not Alone, and Flashback were amazing  I saw him live a couple of years ago - some fellow called Example was the support act - both were rather good. Understandably, the atmosphere died a little when he performed Merrymaking At My Place

July 21, 201114 yr Why, oh why, is TEOG still on the playlist after two (ish) months? (It's a highlight of 2011 for me, but surely this is taking it a bit too far for Radio 1?)
July 21, 201114 yr Cher Lloyd B list? What has happened to the music industry? She will be UK number 1. I'm surprised she's not A-listed.
