July 24, 201113 yr Ahhh, Lykke Li is far too low! Still, glad she climbed. Glad M.I.A. is top 40 (I'm assuming she will be as I doubt she'd be lower than the likes of Shontelle, Agnes etc.)!
July 24, 201113 yr I used to love Natasha back in the day, I haven't listened to 'Unwritten' in a good while but I love all the songs that came from it and 'N.B' had a handful of good songs. Beverley has released some good tracks but I'll never be a huge fan ... I do love 'Shoulda Coulda Woulda', 'Come As You Are' and 'Keep This Fire Burning' majorly though.
July 24, 201113 yr Really would have put Anastacia, Beverley Knight, Alanis Morrisette, Shania Twain and Whitney Houston in the top 40 if I had it my way. Anastacia really needs to have another album like 'Anastacia' that album was perfection imo, still one of my favourite albums of all time.
July 24, 201113 yr 42= 21 Natasha Bedingfield 182 42= 37 Whitney Houston 182 42= 52 Delta Goodrem 182 Just no, only one of these singers is a vocal legend who rates up there with the best singers of all time-why is Delta so low. Just kidding Whitney belongs Top 10 on any list of female singers period.
July 24, 201113 yr I thought Delta would be a bit higher actually. Shocked at NatBed too, I agree with Jark that Unwritten (the album) hasn't dated very well, except the singles.
July 24, 201113 yr I personally feel Natasha's debut is exceptionally dated and aside from the four singles and Frogs & Princes it really has nothing interesting to offer. It's definitely the weak link in her back cat for me. The 2.5 albums which followed were much better and all varying shades of great. Shame she couldn't make the top 30 of this countdown. I agree. 'Touch' and 'Pocketful Of Sunshine' put her earlier singles such as 'I Wanna Have Your Babies' and 'Single' to shame. 'Touch' and POS both deserved worldwide recognition.
July 25, 201113 yr Author Glad M.I.A. is top 40 (I'm assuming she will be as I doubt she'd be lower than the likes of Shontelle, Agnes etc.)! http://www.topnews.in/light/files/celine-dion_1.jpg 37= 30 Pixie Lott 204 37= 54 Celine Dion 204 39 27 Janet Jackson 193 40 44 Ellie Goulding 192 41 43 M.I.A 186 I've been reading 'The Uncanny' today for my dissertation. I find that Cremey's quote and our #41 kind of fit what the hell the man's been going on about for 100 pages :( Pixie Lott tying with Celine Dion is a rather odd occurrence also, the latter has actually climbed this year and I'm not going to deny she is a true talent, but her music grates on me. The obvious hits are 'Think Twice' and 'My Heart Will Go On', both of which achieved the rare feat of selling a million copies. I personally love Celine's version of 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' and 'That's The Way It Is' which ended an amazing 1990s for the singer on a surprisingly upbeat note. Pixie on the otherhand, has a huge test ahead of her as she prepares to release her second album this fall. Her debut 'Turn It Up' never reached the top 5 but has sold over 900,000 copies and spawned 6 top 20 singles. I find her music to be good to listen to but it lacks any sort of 'spark'. Janet Jackson is another one of the 'greats'. Overshadowed by her late brother Michael and the rest of the clan, Janet had a fairly astounding run of hits through the 80s and 90s peaking in 1997 with the mammoth 'Together Again'. Success came again in 2001 with a top 3 single and an album that was denied #1 by Ash, but since then Janet has struggled to regain her former crown - with subsequent albums bombing dreadfully. Below is her song 'Again' from 1993. If you recognise the melody that's because Iyaz raped it last year *cringe* 96hmKX3Hd7c
July 25, 201113 yr I'm not usually one to make these pointless comparisons but Pixie Lott above Janet Jackson? You couldn't make this shit up! Even if you were just basing on their output from the last 3 years Janet wipes the floor with her. Pixie can COME BACK when she has a Feedback of her OWN.
July 25, 201113 yr Author Imagine me adding the damn things up and shaking my head in morbid disbelief at some of the votes and you'll find we be very much on the same page
July 25, 201113 yr Celine Dion #37 and joint with Pixie? what a joke, she should be at LEAST top 20 imo. Still at least she climbed from last year!

It's definitely the weak link in her back cat for me. The 2.5 albums which followed were much better and all varying shades of great. Shame she couldn't make the top 30 of this countdown. Delta hasn't done too badly to say she's not released anything in two years but again I disagree (although I'm in the minority here) - her third album is my favourite by far. I found the first one bland and typical of the uber-dull 'singer songwriter' craze of the early 00s and the second just a bit joyless. I go back to If You're Gonna, Silent Movie, Wild Horses and the hidden track Sojourn quite regularly (oh, and the US version track/a former BJSC entry of mine - Stumble), absolutely love Unwritten and don't think it sounds a lot different production wise to much of Jessie J's Who You Are album. It's a bit of a 'reminds me of the good times' album for me though, so it'll never get old due to the connection I have to most of the songs. N.B. is definitely by far the weak link for me, thankfully she took the strong tracks from that and added some more to make the great Pocketful of Sunshine and Strip Me is a decent album too, if not quite up to the levels of those two for me. Pleased Delta finished so high (higher than last year!). Delta excels in the four singles, Possessionless and Brave Face. Don't care at all for the other half of the album. The other two are near flawless for me (Running Away/Miscommunication tainting each respectively) and I'm not over exaggerating when I say that they're the soundtrack to my life.
July 25, 201113 yr I do kinda feel bad for giving Amy Winehouse my bitchslap now  although I've never been a fan of her music personally I'm glad Ellie Goulding made the top 40 and climbed, yes I know this is meant to be of all time but I really like her music :P can't believe Diana Vickers is still to come :o
July 25, 201113 yr Author http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_a6IMPIC9HT4/SlN7rrrP9wI/AAAAAAAACCY/5vLZvmEWaS8/s400/Sophie+EllisBextor+Live+The+London+Look.jpg 32 36 Sophie Ellis-Bextor 223 33 39 Fergie 220 34 48 Amy Lee 217 35 40 Natalie Imbruglia 209 36 29 Diana Vickers 208 I can't bring myself to even comment. VICKERS? Once her second album sees the light of the day she will be nothing more than a mere memory, left for dead on the bottom shelf of the pop hierarchy, accepting mouldy cupcakes from the Cheeky Girls. I don't need to be Sybil Trelawney to figure that out -_- The other four are fairly decent. SEB caught a one way train to Flopville many years ago, yet her loyal fans still hold her in high regard. Aside from the fact that her latest album has still to gel with me, I give her her dues for her constant refusal to give up. Oh and the divine 'Trip The Light Fantastic.' Fergie has been part of the Black Eyed Peas since their 2003 breakthrough single 'Where Is The Love?'. . Fergie's own solo career was short lived and she returned to the band in time for the unstoppable 'E.N.D' era which spawned 'I Gotta Feeling', which still refuses to budge from the public conscience. Once at the top of their game, the Peas decided the best direction to take was to molester an 80's movie classic. Tsk tsk. I am psyched for the return of Evanescence, even if the concept of an electro-album does leave me quite terrified, I am just estatic about hearing Amy Lee's passionate and haunting vocals on CD again. She's done surprisingly well considering the band haven't released an album in half a decade. I can only assume that people are rediscovering her music in time for album three which is penciled in for October. VegiZKsbqNk
July 25, 201113 yr I loved Fergie's solo output, it was so much better than shite like 'The Time (Dirty Bit)' and 'Don't Stop The Party'.
July 25, 201113 yr Author I'm now going to reveal the remaining 31 females one by one. WOOOOOO!! http://www.alwaysontherun.net/katetop3.jpg 31 17 Kate Bush 226 Highest Position: 2 Number of Votes: 13 Biggest Hits: Wuthering Heights, Running Up That Hill, Babooshka Kate Bush is one of the most inventive and bizarre female singers around. Blasting to critical and commericial acclaim in the late 1970s with her chart topper 'Wuthering Heights' based on the book of the same name, Bush has been a musical force for over 30 years. Despite the fact that she just seems to churn out a new album whenever she feels like it, Kate scores extremely well for the second consecutive year with the BuzzJack voters, dropping just 14 places. Her most famous hit these days is probably 'Running Up That Hill' which was covered by Placebo a few years ago. I personally prefer their version and think Kate has far better in her back catalogue. wp43OdtAAkM
July 25, 201113 yr Amy Lee   seriously brilliant singer, glad she climbed! and Kate Bush too! :D Edited July 25, 201113 yr by Chart Wizard
July 25, 201113 yr That's a pretty fantastic group of popstars actually! Hopefully Fergie will strike out solo again within the next year or so because I really believe she could be one of the biggest if not the biggest of the global superstars. She just needs another album that builds on the finer moments of the first (All That I Got, Big Girls, Glamorous) and she'll cement her status. Sophie (lovely choice of photo by the way) is probably past her prime I feel. The last album was most definitely not worth the wait. It sounded like a collection of demos and b-sides a label would throw together after the popstar got dropped/died. A bit embarrassing. Amy Lee is an amazing frontwoman, hopefully the new Evanescence record will come with another three or four bonafide classics. I seem to be one of the few who liked The Open Door and its singles as much as Fallen although my favourite single of their's is still Going Under. The Vickers is okay. I used to hate her and I still can't stand to watch her perform but she seems sweet enough and My Hip is a barnstormer of an uptempo. Shame it was never released. Natalie Imbruglia is in similar territory to Sophie really - most likely past-it but still with the legacy of a strong back catalogue for her fans to enjoy. Shiver remains supreme.

I actually prefer The Open Door to Fallen, Call Me When You're Sober is about tied with My Immortal as my favourite single of theirs. I haven't listened to Fallen in full for years, nor have any burning desire to do so but The Open Door is still almost hauntingly brilliant in places.
