I think I may start doing the daily top 100 updates from the feed anyway as it's much more up-to-date. I just need to take a screenshot because the feed has a habit of changing itself while I type out an update :P

Anyway, I'll shut up about that as I'm sure no one cares where I get the positions from. :P

I don't think there is a clear third biggest force, it's just UK/US in the top 2 and 'every other country' after that.

Let's do a nationality breakdown of the current full top 100 (official, not iTunes) :P

44 USA
38 UK
4 Barbados
3 France
3 Netherlands
3 Sweden
2 Romania
1 Ireland
1 Spain
1 Trinidad & Tobago

Based on that it's Barbados that's the 'third force' - but this is obviously misleading as all 4 are by Rihanna who may as well be American (and the Trinidadian is Nicki Minaj who is also basically American, so you could say there are 49 US entries)

So we go to the three countries with 3. France suffers from the same thing in that all 3 of its entries are by the same artist - David Guetta. For Sweden, Swedish House Mafia make up 2 of the 3 entries (with Robyn being the third).

So logically the third force is bizarrely Netherlands at the moment, at least in terms of current top 100 entries - Vato Gonzalez, Laidback Luke and Caro Emerald are all Dutch.

But as I say, I'd say the three chart 'forces' nationality-wise are just US, UK and 'other' with a current 44/38/18 split.

In the 90s/early 00s there were a TON of Dutch acts having hits - off the top of my head Alice Deejay, Tiesto, Vengaboys, Rank 1, Ferry Corsten, Gouryella, System F, Southside Spinners, 2 Unlimited, DJ Jean, Do (of DJ Sammy and Yanou feat fame). They sort of disappeared as a chart force so I'm glad to see that they're a little more represented again now, they are our neighbours after all :P Esmee Denters got a couple of hits last year/2009 and Caro's having huge album's success!
