I'm sure it will flop/fail to qualify due to being foreign language/not Scandinavian. But it's excellent if I say so myself (Guy Sigsworth did good) and much better than the 2NE1 song although I've never thought much of them.

 

Odd choice of Medina song from Mikey there. It's hardly a highlight of the album. Also a bit mystified by Aaron's choice of a six year old minor UK chart hit (it didn't make top 40 off the top of my head but it was a decent radio and TV airplay hit, I remember it always being on the music channels). Great song but it seems a bit uninspired. I was looking at Bad Dog myself but I wanted to use the original version rather than any remix... and then the original premiered and I decided it was a bit of a non-event.

It's about half and half. Tbh we almost banned it since it was in UP. I know you don't enter that Jark, but I've seen you in the Indie forum a few times now...

Have you LOL? I feel like I'm on trial for something here. I think I've probably posted in Indie about three times in my life. I found the song on another website altogether. And I do think it would've been a bit bloody questionable to veto it since (A-) you vetoed my earlier choice which seemed perfectly fine given that it was a song which wasn't likely to end up on an album/being released, and (B-) you let that Pendulum song through.

Less than a third of the total BJSC crowd then. :D Even if it doesn't qualify it looks like it's about to find a new audience so I'm happy with that.

I'll take the fact that there's a lot of dance as a good thing, for my entry. Along with the fact that someone has mentioned they see the other semi as the stronger one :D Of course I hope Pia makes it through, she's already had enough of being eliminated too early, with AI.

 

And I knew 'Disco Romancing' was a bit old - but it was around in May 2010 :o :o :o and topped someones chart :o

 

I think they've changed it a bit since then though, and I'm afraid to say I don't like the newer version as much as the version I have. Still, can't count you out of getting points yet until I've heard the competition.

As for your second choice, it was by an artist that is hugely popular on Buzzjack and it was a fresh leak. I must admit I was under the impression it was the new single, it might not have been. But it wasn't exactly inspired. Plus Pendulum really aren't that BJSC friendly. Certainly nowhere near, say, Kelly Clarkson :angel:

I don't mind doing it - these were the three:

 

Kelly Clarkson - I Forgive You (as confirmed by JRK-Off)

Shakira feat Pitbull - Rabiosa (as confirmed by Quintessa)

No it wasn't inspired I suppose but then neither are a great many songs in that list and they weren't vetoed. But I'm not bothered in the slightest because in retrospect it worked out well for me - I carried on looking and found a song more suited to BJSC. It's all good.

Kelly C would have pretty much walked it I guess. No point in entering her in my opinion.

I can see why all of those songs were vetoed. All three artists have a massive fanbase on here (all have multiple multichart #1's I think?) and even if the songs are unknown, they'd have been at a definite advantage over everything else entered before the contest had already begun.

 

That said, I'm glad it's not me that has to do the vetting because it's certainly a grey area - I doubt more than 3 or 4 people actually know those Kelly/Ke$ha songs whereas I expect most participants have at least heard something like Watercolour.

I don't think the fact that she's Kelly Clarkson should mean that she can't be entered. Looking at it objectively she's no bigger a singles act/no more popular on Buzzjack at this moment in time than an artist like Inna. It was a song which probably won't be released and even it did appear on an album it certainly wouldn't be for many months yet. Her thread in pop is reasonably popular but not so much so that everybody in BJSC would know that song. Like I said I'm actually glad I went with my second choice now but I do think the grounds for the veto were a bit shaky and the criteria need to be a bit more clearly defined because there's a little bit of double standards going on here.

How on earth did Pendulum get accepted? Witchcraft is a fantastic song. Watercolour being my favourite. Pedulum are bigger and way cheaper than my Alexandra Stan song!

Whilst the Pendulum entry is uninspired it's not that bad and I don't see why it would be banned.

 

1) They aren't BJ(SC) friendly - the song failed to reach the top 40 of the multichart despite being a single and (assumed) Radio 1 A-listing

2) In the Record of the Decade game I'm running in the chart forum it wasn't deemed good enough to even be nominated but their other two singles were, which finished 48th and 50th. Out of 50.

3) It's over a year old so not likely something that anyone is listening to regularly at the moment.

 

To say it's cheaper than the BJ friendly current hit artist of the moment Alexandra Stan is utterly laughable.

I agree, while Pendulum is cheap, it's hardly going to get much further than bottom of the table in the final anyway - it's certainly not cheap like Alexandra Stan. Nor is Ciara really, she is loved on BJ but let's face it, hardly anyone actually liked/even knew about Basic Instinct :(
