August 12, 201113 yr I think the difference between Swansea and Blackpool is Blackpool scored goals but also leaked them whilst Swansea don't score as many and were tight at the back. I don't think the same defence will cope with the huge step up in quality of the strikers they face. I'd still like to know why people think Wolves will be relegated, no one has given a reason yet and of all the teams who finished in the bottom half last season, apart from maybe Bolton, I think they've easily improved their squad the most. O'Hara made such a difference to them last season and to have him for a full year will be such a step up and Roger Johnson is a terrific defender who really was what they missed last season.
August 12, 201113 yr Player for player though, I think Swansea are better than Blackpool (Charlie Adam aside). In Sinclair, Dyer, Graham they have a more than decent forward line for the bottom half of the Premiership, and if Trezeguet does join that would provide excellent experience for the squad. Wolves are now too good to go down, although I predicted them 15th, I think they'll be comfortable the entire season. Stoke seem to have been quietly building a very strong team too over the summer, and if they do get Nick Bendtner or Crouch (or both) then they could definitely surprise a few people, hopefully starting Sunday!
August 12, 201113 yr I do think that by the end of the transfer window Stoke will have strengthened a lot more, but so far they've only signed two centre-halves, one of which is amongst the top 5 crocked players in the country, and the Shawcross/Huth partnership is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, part of the team in the first place.
August 12, 201113 yr Author I'm unsure about Swansea. Sincalir was key to their promotion last year, but I'm unsure whether he will be make it in the Premier League. We'll see. Wolves will be fine. They were very unlucky last season, have not lost any of their best players and have got a good manager. They'll always be there or thereabouts this season, but the likes of Norwich, Newcastle, Blackburn etc. are much weaker on paper than Wolves.
August 12, 201113 yr I still want Stoke to be relegated/liquidated/burned alive but fair play to them they're putting together a strong team and it looks as though they might actually give playing football a go this season. They've still got awful, thuggish dickhead fans however, which is a shame.

May 16, 201213 yr Really funny reading some of this thread back. Norwich, Swansea and Newcastle the stand out surprises of the season
May 16, 201213 yr Really funny reading some of this thread back. Norwich, Swansea and Newcastle the stand out surprises of the season And Chelsea, just shows how much they underperformed. 6th is a disaster even with the FA Cup (it's of a surprise when they DON'T win that these days) so their season hinges on Munich. Ironic really that the only way they'll be in with another shot of winning the Champions League is by winning it
May 16, 201213 yr Won't happen. 1. Manchester United 2. Chelsea 3. Liverpool 4. Manchester City 5. Arsenal 6. Tottenham 7. Everton 8. Fulham 9. Aston Villa 10. Stoke 11. Sunderland 12. West Brom 13. Bolton 14. Newcastle 15. Wigan 16. QPR 17. Blackburn 18. Wolves 19. Norwich 20. Swansea Another close battle at the bottom. Honestly, all the teams from Wigan downwards are dreadful, any three could go down imo. Fail. Also can't believe I overestimated us. In 11th.
