October 13, 201212 yr I don't think it was particularly bad by England, there's not much more you can do against teams like that. Everything was too crowded far too often, San Marino regularly had their most forward player well back into their third, and when they did have a chance to take the ball forward they showed no sign at all of wanting to, it did seem like players were trying too hard with daft trickery to get round them when often the simple ball was the better one, it was too hard to create space and too many players around to be able to have a run at them. I think our best player was Jonjo Shelvey, when he came on he seemed to play better passes and help others create more space which lead to goals. 86% possession, 32 attempts at goal. It didn't really matter what we did last night, whatever happens you learn absolutely nothing from it because you'll never play against another team that play quite like San Marino. The only important thing from last night was Ukraine drawing 0-0 in Moldova.
October 14, 201212 yr Lampard and Bertrand won't be involved vs. Poland Think it'll be: Hart Johnson Jagielka Lescott Cole Milner Cleverley Gerrard Oxlaide-Chamberlain Rooney Defoe Possibly Carrick in for Cleverley
October 16, 201212 yr Team news: Hart Johnson Jagielka Lescott Cole Milner Carrick Gerrard Cleverley Defoe Rooney Cleverley out wide?
October 16, 201212 yr The England band have not been allowed into the stadium tonight, that's at least one thing I'm glad I won't be hearing tonight however I imagine Tyldesly and Townsend will have been allowed in.
October 16, 201212 yr Disgusting scenes in Serbia after England U21s win 1-0 to qualify for Euro 2013 on aggregate. Connor Wickham's injury time winner sparked missiles to be thrown from the crowd which ended in a huge brawl between players, coaching staff and delegates, with huge amounts of racist abuse being chanted to the England players, Danny Rose reacted and kicked the ball into the crowd and received a red card, before mimicking a monkey on his way off the pitch. England coach Steve Wigley was held back by Serbian coaches and prevented from entering the tunnel, and kicks were being thrown. Absolutely horrible. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/conno...1-v-serbia-u21/
October 16, 201212 yr Big possibilty that the Poland v England game could be postponed due to the rain and looking at the pitch it is waterlogged. Kick-off delayed. Edited October 16, 201212 yr by kenukcsfant2012
October 16, 201212 yr Did anyone see Gabriel Clarke interviewing the Polish press officer? You'd think she was the cause of the rain with the way he was questioning her Chill. It's not the end of the world
October 16, 201212 yr Some of the answers were utterly ridiculous though, the whole thing has been. It was clear she had absolutely no idea about anything that was happening at all!

Now we have the absolute farce in Warsaw. I'm intrigued by this heating the Polish spokesperson was on about. How long would it take after it has evaporated all the water for the pitch to cool down enough to be playabe? Ah well, at least I'm now watching Bake-Off only about 15 minutes behind broadcast time

I believe Serbia were fined in 2007 at the Under-21s European Championship over racist abuse over England's Nedum Onouha weren't they? Any other unsavoury moments between Serbian and English clubs in the past? Would be the England game be on ITV tomorrow night for definite? Edited October 16, 201212 yr by kenukcsfant2012
October 17, 201212 yr Good to see former Ipswich Town player Connor Wickham get the winner though. :D
October 17, 201212 yr I hope to god it's not the same team. Is that supposed to be a 4-3-2-1? I'm guessing 4-4-1-1. I wouldn't expect Hodgson to change his system Do not understand the logic in playing Cleverley and Milner out wide. How about play an actual wide man and try to win the game? This match won't be pretty
October 17, 201212 yr This is a joke what the Serbian FA said: And while most of the English team players celebrated the score, their player number three, Danny Rose, behaved in inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner towards the supporters on the stands at the stadium in Krusevac, and for that he was shown a red card."
October 17, 201212 yr Yep 4-4-1-1 when we're defending and 4-4-2 when we're attacking. I wonder if he's gone for a diamond formation in central midfield. Probably a little too high thinking for Roy, but could work. Why he insists on playing Cleverly I do not know. Even Fergie doesn't trust him in in the big games.
