I had noticed this, when rejigging my first post to get rid of all the links that had been turned into embeds (I will rebuild them once I get a spare moment).

Bøtanikkä's thread is even older and doesn't have this issue, so it's probably just some formatting thing that's on the first page of mine. I'll see if I can fix it up, I'd rather keep the thread going in perpetuity if thread post limits aren't a thing because then I have my country's whole history easily accessible.

until then, avoid the first page if that bothers you (but it seems to fix itself if you click off to the forums)

IGORRR - ADHD

Two months ago we sent a shitpost (lovable) J-Pop song, last month we sent a shitpost (lovable) folk-metal song, and this month it's the turn of breakcore out of my genre catalogue to get our current brand of whimsy applied to it.

Igorrr were last sent by the esteemed Zechonia way back over 10 years ago, but the French genre-bending musician has done a lot since that entry, delving weird and wonderful soundscapes and videos. ADHD is a similarly weird song, using opera, metal, breakcore and baroque sensibilities to produce a unique and enjoyable listening experience.

(a note about the video, and this will be noticed if you use the Youtube playlist, it does use AI, which is something I would normally be against, but it's built from the same base that the animator (Meat-Dept) for the video of their 2020 song Very Noise made, and I'll just share what Igorrr's team and Meat-Dept said about that in the video description and let you make your own mind up on it)

From Meat-Dept : After "Very Noise", we explored the possibilities of AI for this new Igorrr music video: "ADHD". We embraced almost all existing tools, both proprietary and open source, diverting and mixing them with our 3D tools. This video is a symbolic journey into an experimental therapy for treating a patient with ADHD, brimming with nods to "Very Noise".

We know the use of AI in art might be polemic right now, plus we with Meat Dept actually started the clip in 3D, like we did for Very Noise, but at some point we were laughing so hard trying to do creepy things in AI that the clip ended as a mix of both technologies.

The music, however, is 100% homemade.

made-up quotes on how you might describe this entry

"an English Eurovision entry from an alternate timeline where the UK has split and the BBC have discovered their testicles"

"American Idiot, but the English version"

"a true expression of English culture"

bit of a banger innit

JO YURI - Farewell For Now!

Former member of Iz*One (yes I sorta entered them eventually), Jo Yuri, and known to international audiences as a member of the cast of Squid Game from season 2 (I haven't seen 3 yet!), has come out with a really good pop-rock song. I suppose it's technically K-Pop but it doesn't feel exactly like that. Very more towards the singer-songwriter vibe than most K-Pop tracks, and she sings really well.

Ecca Vandal - Cruising To Self Soothe

This one sponsored by my day at the rock day of Reading Festival. Wasn't set on sending something I'd seen there, had another J-Pop song that I might bring back at a later time but this was very addictive.

Actually, fun little anecdote, Ecca Vandal was in one of the smaller tents in the late afternoon, so I went over to see her as my last small act before camping at the main stage for the big rock acts, I hadn't heard her name for a long while but was interested to see what new stuff she had, it was pretty great rock and I was vibing, and when she got to her newest one, Cruising To Self Soothe, she turned to the backstage and brought on what looked like a random old guy, to sing it with her (and I missed her introducing him). Was pretty great and fun moment regardless with this punk-rock banger.

As I found out later when he went up to the main stage, that old guy was Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), now in his mid-50s with a white beard and all, wouldn't have immediately recognised him (+age) before last week. Pretty excellent night all round, in part because of Ecca and him.
