I'm quite surprised this hasn't been done before tbqh.

 

But as was discussed in The Deathly Hallows thread, to celebrate the end of the glorious Harry Potter series it is of course time for a rate.

 

Below are 66 characters (or ghosts/creatures) from the series (mostly who appeared in two films or more, but with the odd exception who made a big enough impact like Lockhart and Quirrell). All you must do is rate them between 0 and 10. You may give ONE 11 and ONE -1 but these are not obligatory.

 

This isn't the Lounge so there won't be any fascism on numbers of 10s etc. but please attempt to vary your rates a little as opposed to making it a massive ten fest.

Lavender Brown: 08 - v v funny, her fling with Ron was handled perfectly.

Cho Chang: -01 - Bland, bland, boring - her character is annoying enough but at least she has a bit of fire in the belly in the books.

Albus Dumbledore: 07 - Compared to the books, Michael Gambon just didn't get him right for me (where was the warm, flamboyantly fabulous aloof side to him) and he was overlooked in DH.

Argus Filch: 07 - Reduced to comic relief; the running in GOF for example, I felt was a bit too slapstick and I think his scene in DH2 didn't fit the tone well. Looked and sounded the part though.

Seamus Finnigan: 03

Mundungus Fletcher: 03

Firius Flitwick: 04 - First two movies got him SPOT ON, having the choir teacher in POA suddenly be the new Flitwick from there onwards was an awful decision.

Cornelius Fudge: 09

Hermione Granger: 10 - The only issue I have is the subtext Steve Kloves gave film Hermione that she has deeper feelings for Harry. Although, I love him for giving us the Harry/Hermione dance scene, the most tender, touching and reflective scene of all the films.

Grawp: 08 - He was sorely missed in DH.

Griphook: 09

Gregory Goyle: 00

Rubeus Hagrid: 10 - Coltrane IS Hagrid.

Kreacher: 06 - It would have been EPIC if he had led the Hogwarts' House Elves into battle; I guess that's the consequence of cutting a lot of subplot out of the later books - when it comes to the payoff in the finale, they got stuck trying to hit the same great beats that the the book did.

Viktor Krum: 07 - HAWT.

Bellatrix Lestrange: 11 - She lived that character, the best screen adaption by far.

Gilderoy Lockhart: 10

Neville Longbottom: 07 - His arc wasn't handle as well in the movies, they still couldn't help but make him the bumbling idiot in DH and his speech was a bit WET.

Luna Lovegood: 10 - Fanstastic.

Remus Lupin: 07 - Underused.

Draco Malfoy: 10 - When the hell did Tom Felton become so good looking? That's what popped into my head whenever he was on screen during DH.

Lucius Malfoy: 10 - Jasson Issacs was fantastic.

Narcissa Malfoy: 02 - Her two lines were quite well delievered in DH.

Minerva McGonagall: 10

Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moody: 09

Moaning Myrtle: 08

Nearly Headless Nick: 08

Mr Ollivander: 08 - This string of 8s makes me realise just how well adapted/cast the characters were in the first two films.

James Potter: 01 - He didn't have much of a role in the movies, and I still don't get why the actor hired for James and Lily were the same age as Lupin etc, even though they died young. Nitpick.

Lily Potter: 06 - Handled well in DH.

Quirinus Quirrell: 09 - Giggles @ the name.

Rufus Scrimgeour: 09

Nymphadora Tonks: 00 - They shredded her character. I don't blame anyone who hasn't read the books to be saying WHO?! right now.

Lord Voldemort: 09 - I think he was a bit too CAMP - hearing Fiennes say he wore stockings underneath his robe during shooting and flashed his thigh occassionaly doesn't help matters.

Arthur Weasley: 08

Fred Weasley: 09 - The twins weren't quite how I imagined them, which is why I knocked off a point, and I am bitterly disappointed with his death not being handled properly.

George Weasley: 09 - ^

Ginny Weasley: 05 - So much more fierce and well developed in the books; the 'chemistry' between her and Harry was dead in the movies, and her role was reduced to little more than damsel-in-distress, lover in waiting - and I was peeved with her lack of concern when it seemed like Neville plunged to his death in the last film.

Molly Weasley: 09 - Would have been 10 if it weren't for her poor delivery of her most infamous line.

Percy Weasley: 03 - Was played great when he was in it, a shame his storyline in the later books was cut.

Ron Weasley: 10 - Like Neville and Filch I think his character was played for laughs quite a lot of the time - plus, a lot of his great lines in the earlier books that actually showed he has a brain in his head was given instead to superhero Hermonie by Steve Kloves (her No.1 fan). Overall though, Ron was well adapted. As an aside though, when did Rupert Grint become so sexy! SWOON. I wouldn't be against marriage.

Oliver Wood: 07 - Embodied the character well.
