She is a LOT better in the books I have to admit, see this is why you're missing out Jake!

 

And I still stand by the fact that Hedwig's death was THE most distressing moment in the whole series.

I'm probably hardly qualified to do this rate, but I can never resist one, as I have only read the first 6 books (can hardly remember anything from 4-6 beside the main plot points as well and a few characters), and only seen the first 3 films (at time of writing, I'm now marathoning through them at a leisurely pace) so I'll give a 5 to characters I don't recognise at all, (while I'm probably low-scoring some popular characters from later on, Bellatrix in particular, from reading this thread, I don't know them at all) so here it is:

Bellatrix and Luna only a 5 Eyes :(

Thing is, I can hardly remember them (assuming they aren't in the 7th book only, which I haven't read, but apparently, about half of these characters die, or something, can't really remember everyone who dies though) so any of whatever goodness they have I haven't seen yet. (Yes, I'm very behind). I might be watching Goblet of Fire tonight, so if any people I've rated a 5 show up and they make enough of an impression on me, I might slip a cheeky edit in, if that's allowed. That's all a MIGHT!

 

I remember Cho Chang, Diggory and Moody slightly, so they get a 6, because I think I liked them. Pretty much everyone else who doesn't appear in books 1-3 has gotten a 5 I'm afraid (unless I know they are being played by a certain Doctor Who actor :D)

00 Aragog - Pretty odd choice of character to be in the rate; not even his death was enough to make me pity him.

06 Sirius Black - Never really got the love for Sirius.

07 Lavender Brown - Won Won!

02 Cho Chang - Less personality than the Giant Squid

04 Colin Creevey - Likeable but would have liked to see more of him in the film.

02 Vincent Crabbe - Blah

02 Barty Crouch - Didn't like the character in the film...didn't really like him in the book either.

06 Barty Crouch Jr - Well rounded character and brilliantly written.

06 Fleur Delacour - I liked her in the book but thought she was majorly underused in the film.

08 Cedric Diggory - Poor Ced :( I met R-Patz once...think he was high.

09 Dobby - :(

05 Aberforth Dumbledore - Felt sorry for him in the book...plus he used the word 'bast*rd' and that's all kinds of cool.

07 Albus Dumbledore - Really hard to score Dumbledore. I love him in the books and thought Richard Harris played him brilliantly; unfortunately Michael Gambon played him poorly.

04 Dudley Dursley - Redeemed himself by the end of the series.

06 Petunia Dursley - See above but slightly more interesting.

02 Vernon Dursley - Vile.

08 Argus Filch - Cracks me up!

06 Seamus Finnigan - I don't mind him in the books but the guy that plays him in the film is irritating.

04 Mundungus Fletcher - Lovable rogue.

06 Filius Flitwick - I love Flitwick in the books...I don't like the way he looks in the films though.

03 Cornelius Fudge - Moron

10 Hermione Granger - I love myself a bit of Herm-own-ninny

-1 Grawp - I literally can't stand Grawp. Such a boring, under-used character.

00 Griphook - Horrible.

02 Gregory Goyle - Blah

01 Rubeus Hagrid - I know I'm heartless but Hagrid just bores me. The only chapter in OOTP that I have to skip is Hagrid's Tale, it's just dull.

02 Madame Hooch - Think JKR probably has backstory on Hooch (first name is Rolanda for those interested) but at the moment she's just under used.

08 Kreacher - Poor Kreacher, thought he really redeemed himself by the end of the series. Would have liked to have heard Kreacher's Tale in the final film.

03 Viktor Krum - He's ok but a bit flaky.

10 Bellatrix Lestrange - Everyone's favourite psychopath. The more I see her on film, the more I think she resembles Amy Winehouse (RIP)

07 Gilderoy Lockhart - I know I shouldn't like him but he's just too funny. Classic homo as well.

08 Neville Longbottom - The cheers that went up when he killed Nagini - WOO

09 Luna Lovegood - Brilliant character, just a shame she wasn't introduced earlier on in the series.

06 Remus Lupin - I really liked Lupin in the POA book, but he was just never portrayed right on film. Also, he got kinda boring as the books went on.

02 Draco Malfoy - BOO HISS BOO

08 Lucius Malfoy - Something oddly likable about Lucius...

05 Narcissa Malfoy - Another character who could have been used more, but loved her redeeming part in the end of the book.

11 Minerva McGonagall - Absolute LEGEND! "They're supposed to be out of bed you blithering idiot!"

03 Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moody - Hated Brendon Gleeson's portrayal of him, just too OTT.

07 Moaning Myrtle - Little light hearted ghosty comedy never hurt anyone.

05 Nearly Headless Nick - had some good scenes with Ron.

03 Mr Ollivander - Never really liked him...

01 Peter Pettigrew - Again BOOOOOO

05 Poppy Pomfrey - Reminds me of my mum: fuss fuss fuss

07 Nymphadora Tonks - Underused character in the film and got a bit mardy in the books.

10 Dolores Umbridge - WONDERFUL...in a bad way.

09 Lord Voldemort - Would have got a 10 but Ralph Fiennes camps him up and makes him laugh oddly.

08 Arthur Weasley - Glad he got a reprieve because he was meant to die.
