EVERYTHING about the release is ropey and lazy - from the AMATEUR artwork, to the lack of them taking any advantage of a potential X Factor slot, and the frankly TERRIBLE throwaway song itself (easily the worst of Kelly's career - RedOne should be feeling ashamed of himself).

It really does feel like they've decided they DON'T HAVE TO BOTHER, assuming that Kelly's new status as an X Factor judge will be enough to guarantee them decent sales. Sadly, it seems they may be right.

It really is quite absurd that she's spent over two years on this album and THIS is the best they can manage for the lead single. Knowing that she had this huge opportunity with X Factor they really should have gone all out making sure this was the single and album campaign to make her an A-lister but the material is so distinctly C-list alas.

Really it's absurd that this was all they could manage for the whole ALBUM. I agree with what you said - so distinctly C-List... And they've ignored Lay It On Me (the obvious smash) just because Down For Whatever is generic enough to fit in with the trends of club bangers.

Kudos to her not playing it safe and having an XF slot though.

Exactly. I get the feeling we've ALREADY had the good stuff chucked out as buzz or non-album singles, and now we're left with dregs. The sad fact is that Kelly is NEVER going to get a better opportunity to go A-list, and she's squandering it.

Honestly, I don't really see this as a GOOD thing. Again, she's NEVER going to have a better opportunity to properly launch herself. She's NOT in the league of Beyonce or Gaga or Rihanna who could get by without. If she IS playing the martyr and actually turning down the opportunity (although is that actually what's happened?), then she's a very silly girl.

I know it's a stupid decision for her to turn it down, I think she's quite brave by doing so and risking a flop.
She clearly wouldn't turn it down. Most likely it was never on the table or it was and they pulled it because the song is shoddy.

The song is fine , x factor producers would love her to perform they would think it could improve ratings.

The song has climbed to 12 on i-tunes but has fallen in the radio airplay chart to number 50 (from 18)!

^ Kelly maybe is being smarter then we think performing during huge xmas sales weeks to push her album!

(a bit off topic) I expect Olly will get to perform at some stage seeing how he is linked to the show too.

He's performing his single "Dance with Me Tonight" next week.

DFW - is now number 6 on i-tunes.
HA! I love that this is doing so well, and also that she'll be on The X Factor - after all you naysayers up there saying she was stupid to not go on the show! I can see her having another top 10 album now as well, and I can't wait to see the performance :D
Peaked at number 4 on i-tunes so far!
Number 3 in the midweeks i reckon will still be in the top 5 come sunday!
So this débuts at #6 this week, equalling 'What a Feeling''s début and peak. Not as high as I thought it'd be initially, but I can see it out-peaking that once she's performed it on The X Factor.
do we have first week sales figures?
Confirmed to be performing next week on the X Factor :D
As average as this song is, I'm pleased it's gone Top 10 and I hope it sticks around. I am PUMPED for her X Factor performance.
