May 20, 201213 yr not really surprised tbh. was only a matter of time. shame starlight flopped it was a great tune.
May 20, 201213 yr If Matt's been dropped, then Marcus Collins will definitely be dropped next. Matt Cardle should sign to an independent record lable and release his second album that way. I really couldn't care less what Marcus does in all fairness. :D
May 20, 201213 yr If its true i hope matt can go on to better things, i like Matt and enjoyed his debut album and has hoped it would have sold more.
May 20, 201213 yr 1,765,997 :D no you are mistaken i wanted sales not how many times you have listened to it. :D
May 20, 201213 yr If you add in Run For Your Life you can bring that up to over 300k and he has sold near a million of When We Collide. He didn't do too bad but im sure he'll be back i.e joe mcelderry
May 20, 201213 yr Syco really dont give people a chance at all to find their feet. Maybe im wrong but someone like Matt if given time to truly find his feet could do well but it just doesnt seem to be allowed. Hopefully as i said he will bounce back bigger than ever.
May 20, 201213 yr Matt's announced that it was his decision to leave as he didin't like the way his musical direction was going.
May 21, 201213 yr Hmmm, Matt was probably dropped. They usually dress these things up. Such a shame as the album was solid. At least we know no one put any effort into him whatsoever.
May 21, 201213 yr Matt's announced that it was his decision to leave as he didin't like the way his musical direction was going. L O L An absolute c**t to the last then, in a way I'm glad. It would have been less funny had his ego been dampened.
May 21, 201213 yr I liked Matt, cant imagine he was dropped to be honest, he must have left as he said he did. Columbia wouldnt drop an artist with a top 10 lead single and a number 2 platinum album from their label..they have plenty other artists who cant manage that so it wouldnt make sense if that was the reason. More likely that they wanted Matt to work with people he doesnt want to, use songs he doesnt want and set deadlines which reduce quality in what he produces/writes. He'll be fine though

He'll be fine though I was really happy when he signed with Columbia but after they made him release RFYL I started to have my doubts about them. He said in an interview that Letters was overproduced and he wanted more control over the next album. I hope he can find a label who believe in him more :) Edited May 22, 201213 yr by ambersweet
May 23, 201213 yr I have no sympathy for Matt, I liked him on X-factor then he seemed to turn into a tool thinking he had more talent than he had. He should have released one of his own songs for his first single. Run for your Life was dire and killed his career before it started. Hopefully another girl wins this year.

No one heard anything from him until his first play of RFYL so how did he turn into a tool? I actually remember seeing him on XF and listening to him promoting RFYL on radio 1 so strange how your opinion changed on the rare promotion/interviews he did RFYL wasn't dire, tbh it was on level with the rest of his album i.e average with the occasional spark (starlight) but even that didnt chart well. RYFL still gave him his only proper solo top 40 charting if you dont count the spoon fed WWC so it did the job of promoting his album. It still sold well with 70k in the first week and a number 2 peak so to say it killed his career is way off the mark, if anything Starlight/Amazing killed his career. Truth is he didnt do much promotion and didnt have any radio play at all after RYFL
May 24, 201213 yr Matt's been working with a lot of writers signed to Universal Music. It's possible he's already got another deal. He's also going to the BAFTA's next week! :)
