(The video that was promoted for it was clips of the Who's That Girl Tour). The song was her second new track on her 1990 greatest hits compilation The Immaculate Collection. The song shows more power in Madonna's vocals than ever before. Rescue Me made chart history in the US by it's highest ever debut in the Hot 100 at #15 by any act. Madonna took the record from Michael Jackson's Thriller that debuted at #20. The song became Madonna's 22nd top ten hit in america peaking at #9 and got a gold cert. In the UK it peaked at #3 becoming Madonna's 19th top 3 single, 26th top 10 single, her fifth straight top three single. It's gone on to sell over 135,000 copies. Some of the remixes for "Rescue Me" include vocal samples from other Madonna songs. The Houseboat Vocal includes the "Hey" said by Madonna, followed by "What!" said by the back-up singers, from the single True Blue, in the beginning of the remix. The S.O.S. Mix includes the "Watch out" from the beginning of the single Open Your Heart, but it is transposed down and distorted. The Titanic Vocal and Demanding Dub include the "So Now What?" sample taken from the single "Justify My Love. The Demanding Dub also includes a sample of "Ladies" from the single Vogue. August 22, 201113 yr Author I do love the lines "love is understanding, it's hard to believe life can be so demanding I'm sending out an sos stop me from drowning baby, I'll do the rest". It's probably not her greatest work but I do like it. It shouldn't have been the only song left the IMC to go on to the Celebration album.
August 22, 201113 yr My favourite bit is towards the end where she GRUNTS RESCUE ME and of course the R-E-S-C-U-E ME bit. I prefer it to Justify My Love and a good few of the big single off The Immaculate Collection. It was a different route for her to take and along with JML a nice window into what we would be getting with Erotica. The Titanic Vocal Mix is amazing.
