Lady GaGa has revealed that she will be guest-starring on The Simpsons.

The 'You and I' singer declared that she is thrilled by the opportunity to be involved on the animated series, saying that it presents a different sort of challenge from making music.

"I make music, but I don't do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humour," GaGa told Entertainment Weekly. "That's what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines."

The 25-year-old teased the appearance, revealing that she heads to Springfield in order to help boost Lisa Simpson's confidence.

"I play a little bit of a sl*t," GaGa said. "The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."

Finally, the singer described the experience of recording her lines as "one of the coolest things [she's]ever done", noting that someone close to her will be particularly excited by her appearance.

"My dad's probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out," GaGa said.

The singer will open this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which are slated to air on Sunday, August 28 at 9pm. GaGa has promised that the performance will not disappoint.

Meanwhile, GaGa's Simpsons episode, titled 'Lisa Goes GaGa' will air in spring 2012 as a part of the series's 23rd season.

In the studio

She looks so pretty there
This era for Gaga has been good in terms of beauty tbh. She looks best this period compared to her earlier 2 periods.

She appeared in an episode before:

Lady Gaga has already kissed plenty of ladies in her quest to be the world's most outrageous pop star.

And now she is set to lock lips with another woman - albeit in cartoon land.

She will share a smooch with Marge when she makes a guest appearance on hit cartoon The Simpsons next year.

The flamboyant star will doubtlessly approve of the wacky makeover she will receive from show creator Matt Groening's army of animators.

A-list couple? It remains to be seen whether Marge will be keen on kissing Gaga

But the Pokerface singer also said her character will be as close to life as can be in a cartoon.

She said: 'I play a little bit of a $l*t. The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree.'

Watch out Homer! Lady Gaga to kiss Marge in guest appearance on The Simpsons

Gaga, 25, will make her Simpson's debut next year in an episode entitled 'Lisa Goes Gaga'.

Her animated self visits Springfield after learning low self-esteem is rife in the town, and attempts to cheer up Lisa Simpson through the power of speech and song.

Despite headlining at arenas around the world, Gaga admitted she found her visit to Simpsons HQ yesterday 'a little nerve-wracking.'

She added: 'I make music, but I don't do voiceovers every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny.

'I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humour.

'That's what I was trying to focus on - not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.

'I would say this is one of the coolest thing's I've ever done. My dad's probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out.'

Gaga's Simpson's character will see the singer arrive on a Gaga Express train, powered by a giant flame-shooting bustier.

She will also have ample trademark wardrobe changes and share a kiss with Marge.

Yeardley Smith, who plays Lisa, said even Gaga struggles to cheer-up her swot character, who is depressed in the hilarious episode.

She said: 'This is extraordinary. I'm stunned that she has time in her schedule that she's coming to our studio to record,

Almost: Gaga was about to kiss Madonna on Saturday Night Live until host Kenan Thompson stuck his face between them

'She's playing herself, and [The Simpsons writers] describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world.

'She comes to Springfield to try to cheer up Lisa, but she can't.'

The Simpsons bosses said they were impressed with Gaga's voiceover skills and ad-libbing abilities.

Hands off: No doubt Homer will keep his a protective arm around Marge when Gaga kisses his wife

Matt Groening said: 'Since the very beginning I've always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time and she's it.

'It's very hard to top reality with her, but I'm sure we'll come up with something that is going to be as improbable as her usual wardrobe.'

Executive producer Al Jean added: 'For the first time in the history of The Simpsons, we are honoured to have on a showbusiness legend who is younger than our show.'

'Lisa Goes Gaga' is due to air in the US in spring 2012 as part of the show's 23rd season, which launches on September 25th.

I'm shocked that they are still making The Simpsons

Lezzing off with Marge will be fun to see.

Saw it this morning.

Such an anti climax of an episode, Lisa is sad for 34 then is suddenly happy again :/

The J-Lo line was good though  and Gaga was very funny.

Ooh something to watch later <3 Lisa is AMAZING[/unpopularopinion]

Watched it this morning and loved it (as you could probably tell from my new avatar :kink:). They got Gaga spot on with all the outfits and the train. Great to see some of her iconic outfits (the egg & the meat dress) in cartoon form.

Personal highlights were Homer trying to eat the meat dress and Gaga saying "I'm not that good" when Moe asked if she could help him too.

Watched it just now, enjoyed it. Some great moments in there.

Lisa is AMAZING[/unpopularopinion]

I agree with you! Lisa is one of my favourite characters. She has got the most emotional depth out of all the characters and an intellectual depth as well. She also always has great storylines.

The highlight clearly was the train.
