That's great! I think it was their most watched show on that channel (not a difficult task :P). This new series should follow their planning/recording/releasing of a new album like this one! Or maybe their first single for eleven years! (But I'm hoping for something form them before that!)

The new series will partly cover their Tour as well, so we will get some backstage insight!

Hopefully we do get a new Album/Single as well!

The tv show should help add a few sales to the ultimate collection as will the tour, i too hope they do a new album and single as i would love to see what direction they would go in, vocally i think they are better than they ever have been as they have done more live singing since they returned i think than the whole time they were originally together.
I watched their documentary last year and I was hooked - led to me dragging back out my copy of their 'Gold' album and realising just how many great pop songs they had. I wonder what a new album would sound like?

I may have already posted this in here, but this song gives me SERIOUS Steps flashbacks (the chorus at least):

I think if they did a new album, the material would sound like this too.

As reported on Digital Spy, the support act for the tour is Russian singer, Kamaliya

It's not bad, but it has got that Eurovision flop vibe about it

Heard this a few days ago. It's not bad actually. Bet you anything she enters the Russian Eurovision selection this year as "World Superstar" Kamaliya then has a strop when she comes second, like Valeriya in 2009
Something tells me that pretty much rules out the possibility of a new album. :(

How so?

I'm still hopeful that we'll get one :o Although at this point I'd just be happy with a new single.

I just don't know why they would bother with this Platinum Collection if there was something genuinely new in the pipeline, and really after the tour, the ship will have sailed. Surely they know that too.

I would say the same could have been said for Boyzone, but then it's impossible to gauge how well Brother/another tour would have done if not for Stephen's death :(

I think it's worth milking at least a decent final single out of though, Words Are Not Enough really didn't suffice.

I think this Platinum Collection is just being released to make a quick buck. I don't think it means there's absolutely no chance of any new music, it's just a record company making the most of an opportunity.
If they are planning on recording new material theyreally should let their fans and supporters know of such plans. The momentum built and firmly in place following the tv show which played a major role in them achieving number 1 with the Ultimate Collection. The tour has further sustained interest. They should decide on what they plan to do and let the fans know about it in time for the tour to keep fans appetite alive following the tour, otherwise the risk is higher that they will be forgotten about all over again.
The Platinum collections is probably out just to keep momentum going and to possibly entice new fans or to get older fans who maybe lost their original copies of the albums to re-buy them, i dont see this as being proof they wont record new material, my guess is they'll probably wait till the tour gets closer to announce something, maybe they'll debut something new during the show.

Are the platnum collections re mastered or anything does anyone know???

I wish they would decide if they will record new material or not, it would be nice to know whats in the pipeline beyond the tour.

Steps new album scrapped by Sony

Published Sunday, Feb 12 2012, 20:47 GMT | By Daniel Sperling |

Steps are reportedly no longer guaranteed to record an album of new material after Sony reneged on its initial deal.

The 'Tragedy' group - individually known as Claire Richards, Ian 'H' Watkins, Lisa Scott-Lee, Lee Latchford-Evans and Faye Tozer - reformed last year with the intention of embarking upon a UK arena tour and releasing a fourth studio LP.

However, Sony is believed to have told the five-piece that they do not want to fund another record, forcing them to shop around for a new label.

"They've instructed their management to widen their ideas and talk to other labels," a source told the Sunday Mirror. "Universal is top of their list.

"They want a new album off the ground. It's a case of finding the right label to take the risk."

An Ultimate Collection of Steps' greatest hits topped the UK album chart back in October.

The band are currently filming a second series of their Sky Living documentary.

Don't understand the logic behind this at all, with the right promotion and lead single I see no reason why it couldn't do better than a hundred and one flop albums that Sony push out year after year. There's a fanbase ready and waiting for this album. At least they're intending to do one, I hope they can find a label to support them, I want a proper final single at the very least, to wash away the memory of Words Are Not Enough!

That's a shame for them. I'm not sure they could recapture their former glories with the kind of music that's in the charts right now but I think they have enough of a solid fanbase to get at least a gold album out of it if the lead song was good enough. Depending on what a new label would expect, there's plenty of artists selling a similar amount so hopefully someone will give them a chance.
