It’s with great pleasure that I bring you the newly reformed pop megastars… Steps!

I was the first journalist to get my mitts on the band recently when the fivesome – who had huge hits between 1997 and 2001 with 5,6,7,8, One For Sorrow, Tragedy and Deeper Shade Of Blue – met up for publicity photos to promote their new TV show.

And I’m pleased to report Claire Richards, Ian “H” Watkins, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee feel extremely positive about the band’s future.

After years of fall-outs they’re doing a new Sky Living show where we watch the kiss-and-make-up chats in a four-part series.

Lisa told me: “It’s actually not weird at all being in the same room. It’s funny. We spent five years together and we’re like family.

“Me, Lee and Faye remained friends because we felt betrayed by the other two when they left – you see that in the show. I didn’t speak to H and Claire for two years.”

Lee adds: “We want to celebrate 10 years since we split up. Doing the show has been weird and there have been a load of home truths – I didn’t speak to H for six years.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to knock him out or become best friends again when we met. And we’ve become really close now.”

Claire said she’s not sure where the future will take them but I hear there are definitely plans for a nationwide arena tour. “I’m scared about it all but it’s exciting,” she said.

“This could be the start of it all again.

“A few years ago it was an ‘over my dead body’ situation with Steps but now I’m happy. We’ve all grown up a lot.

“I’m slightly scared about the dance moves, though. H remembers everything but I’m clueless. And there will definitely not be any crop tops.” Sorry, peeps!

H told me: “I’d only just moved on from Steps and I never thought I’d be going back. I would only entertain Steps being back in my life if it went well. For now it is. I’m loving having the guys back in my life.”

But Faye seems wary, saying: “If people want us back then it could be something more. It’s been beautiful and wonderful to be in the same room but I’m not sure what the future will hold.”

STEPS Reunion starts on Sky Living HD on September 28 at 9pm. Their Ultimate Collection CD is out on October 10.

Well excited for this! The arena tour is a done deal it appears :)

Any idea of possible venues? :o

Apart from the Ultimate Greatest Hits, i don't think they're recording new material, it's just the documentary and then a one-off gig, any more depends on how that does. I can see a tour being successful, as they've still got a following, but their days of chart success aren't going to be like it used to be...maybe one more minor hit.

Nice interview, I hope things go well for them, its really exciting they are back together again and things are all good between them, as a fan it makes me happy to know they were able to work out their differences and realize there was still a lot of love for one another despite what happend :D im sure an arena tour would sell out as everyone will want to see them again and relive the memories, it'd be nice to hear new material from them, but i think they'd have to revamp their sound as i dont feel like they'd go over well with songs like Better Best Forgotten, Say You'll Be Mine or Stomp in this day and age, but i guess we'll have to wait and see what the future holds!
Sorry Double post

I watched the first episode of the documentary tonight and really enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing more. I have to say i really felt sorry for Lee, Lisa and Faye because Hand Claire really ended their careers out of the blue. I liked Claire in the documentary aswell, but i would have doubts about H, he seemed/seems very much a me person and not think of the consequences for others. I also enjoyed when they showed the clips of their last concert ever, where h and claire told the others they had quit an hr before going on stage, they looked so emotional on stage, h and claire really should have told them after the show i think but i guess we cant change that now.

I really hope someone uploads this to youtube as i really really want to see it, i found an interview that they did with holy moly, its a nice interview and its really nice to see them all back together and laughing again.

Just watched the first episode, dramatic stuff! I see that Claire is being painted as the villain of the narrative...

I reiterate that Faye still looks amazing, I guess there's no hiding the fact that she was a childhood crush  You can blame the Love's Got A Hold On My Heart video for that...

We watched this purely for Lisa Scott-Lee's need to breakdown every time she gets any public exposure these days. I feel 'Electric-gate' is still stinging :heehee:

It was quite pathetic really that they had tensions over who got to sing vocals amongst other things. I found it really immature, understandable, but immature. I didn't like how Claire was painted as a villain though, when H comes across as a spiteful, self-centered troll.

Was also gutted that it ended just before they all sat down to talk :heehee:

I wouldn't worry, there's three more to come  And I do agree that H comes off worse than Claire in this, Claire was just overworked and from what I understand had pretty bad self-worth issues. H was just entitled and a bit of a drama queen.

Also I have no idea what he saw in their manager, ewwww. And this is coming from a guy who's weird taste in men is internationally renowned.

I have to say, if there was any doubting my adoration for her before, LSL is literally one of a kind amazing. The absolute highlight for me was her SWIMMING with her SUNGLASSES on. Amazing, love love love that crazy woman.

'It was...such a shock '

I do actually now see what you were saying about her being a fame whore. I'd never really noticed before, but every shot in this it was quite clear she was determined to rinse every second dry for any opportunity at some self promotion.

Sky Living's Steps Reunion, in which H and, er ... the rest of the band reflected on their success, proved a hit for the digital channel with 472,000 viewers between 9pm and 10pm, a 2.1% share of the audience and 133% up on the slot average for the past three months.
As good as can be expected on such a channel I suppose, I really wish it had been on ITV1 or even ITV2 instead though...
